No doubt...hard to beat yet if you change it up just a little, I have the complete Atlantic recordings of...."John Coltrane" wid Elvin Jones on drums...cd's 5 and 6 are of the coolest shit. This album and a few from John, put it to you this way....If you say you are into jazz and you ain't got this and some John Coltrane, we can't talk no-mo! : )
Wow not much beats this even to-day. Miles Davis is the most creative jazz musician ever - a really crazy "endiva" crazy for his music. Such think if he and Hendrix had really got together after Woodstock!!

IF you want to hear something very funky, and out...heavily influenced by this album, then check out Meatbeat at The Center. (It's the only album of theirs in my opinion that's great). Very funky, with more bottom...very nice on the ears....
At first I didn't know what I would think about this. I thought "Man, I hope this isn't one of those songs where they play the same thing for 20+ min.
Boy an i glad i heard this
THIS SHIT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes every other jam i've heard sound like the jonas brothers. Play on Miles!
Wow...10,000 folks listened to the first part of this, and only 2,000 listened to the second part. They must not know what they're missing.
I think this album is best felt by playing it straight through, beginning to end...and then doing that over roughly 1000 times. It took me that long to actually *hear* what this jam is all about. Killer jams. Drastically changed my perception of what music is.
This song and album inspired me to play Bass Clarinet.

Oh man, this is a great album. You can clearly see that this had a major influence in Radiohead, in songs such as " Subterranean Homesick Alien "

oh those great Teo Macero edits! 1.44 and 1.59 and many more. That dude was crucial to this sound.

I heard this when I was 18 in 1968..on the low end of the FM dial (where else?)
and that was it for me.
Have to thank that DJ for playing the whole damn album.
