  • The Oz books by L. Frank Baum are the best kept secret in American literature! If you are not familiar with these wonderful books, you have NO idea what you've been missing.

  • I played Ozma

Emma Ridley .com check out goddess fitness dance . com also

The dress was beautiful so are the memories

Running around the beautiful sets with Faruza xxx

  • I haven't seen this in years. I remember being in love with Ozma as a child. xD

  • I love Jack's little revelation at the end! XD LOL Brian Henson did a GREAT job voicing him! :) I don't understand why this movie wasn't well received in theaters! The special effects are EXCELLENT for 1985 and the acting is also very well done especially from Nicol Williamson as the Nome King/the Doctor and the girl who plays Ozma! And the voicework with TikTok and Jack is perfect! :) I also think Toto is SO CUTE in this film!!! :) I really wish he went with Dorothy too!

  • One of my favorite scenes in the movie.

  • Go Emma Ridley!

She is such an amazing woman. You all should look her up on youtube with goddess fitness dance.

  • @BroadwayGirl24 She must be all of 40 now, bet she hasn't lost her good looks though.

  • she is well pretty (Ozma)

  • @PringleTrain She was, what was the name of the actress who played her.

  • @MeBenHalpin Oooh Idunn o>_> lol

  • @PringleTrain Lol its alright, just looked earlier, she's played by an actress called Emma Ridley.

  • anyone notice mombi is queen bavmorda from willow

  • @DrGreenfun Yeah and the maid from the series Upstairs Downstairs, if you remember that.

  • @MeBenHalpin Jean Marsh?

  • @SuperWolsey That was her Jean Marsh thanks, couldn't think of the name.

  • @MeBenHalpin she was also on Doctor Who plus was married to the 3rd Doctor himself Jon Pertwee

  • @SuperWolsey Really never knew that my old man was big Doctor Who fan as child in the 60's.

  • haha, jack is hilarious, now i know where tim burton got his idea of jack skellington from

  • In the book Mombi turned Ozma in to a boy so that no one would recognize her as Ozma...I like this version to though

  • this movie made no since whatsoever...

  • It was a pretty straightforward storyline. What didn't you get?

  • It's not that I dont get it, its just that its so stupid. The whole thing was just so random and stupid. It wasn't exactly great filmmaking. And so many holes in the story, like the way the chicken can talk and says "all animals can talk in the land of Oz" and yet Toto never did.

  • Maybe Walter Murch relied too much on people knowing the books, which explain why Toto never talked (he eventually did).

  • Comment removed

  • Well in the book, they said Toto never chose to talk.

  • i have seen this movie Billion times when i was a teen...when i was 14

  • Wow I don't remember this part.

  • YOU DON'T!! it's like a climax of the movie. rewatch it is all i can say

  • I just bought the movie (I had to order it) and now I remember it ....I had not seen it since I was like 5 haha

  • yeah the sound quality is bad

As for the look of Scarecrow and Iinman I think they used all the costume budget on Mombi and the wheelers

  • Thats the way they were ment to look. If you read the books and look at the illustrations thats pretty close to what they look like.

  • wtf?

  • is it just my computer or does this video not have any sound because i was watching other videos berfore this and there was sound it was just this video and there was no sound

  • It's a pretty quiet video - I can barely hear it with the sound right up.

  • umm i dot know whenever i type in emma ridley it always says shes a porn star and on yahoo image search all this porn of her comes up haha

  • wow...emma ridley..shes a porn star now.

  • jumthemhigh - How did that happen?

  • i was jk...she wasnt a porn star but rumours say she is. if you type in emma ridley on yahoo images a couple nude pics of her come up...she was known as the "wild child" and those nude pics of hr was when she was getting into bars underage and dancing ont ables at 14.

  • this isnt the actress playing dorothy you're talking about, is it?

  • no this is emma ridley who played ozma. (the blonde). fairuza balk idk what happpened to her....but she got mad ugly as an adult

  • jump - Fairuza Balk is absolutely stunning. How can you say that she's ugly?

  • she was way cuter as a kid and i dont think shes pretty at all now...emma ridley is gorgeous tho

  • Emma Ridley, emma ridley! Ah!!!!!!

  • Aww, Jack is so adorable. XD "MOM! My REAL Mom! O_O *faint*" Poor thing.

I really need to see this film in its entirety. D:

  • It's not loading.

  • i love this movie and it makes me happy that it is from the year I was born. some pretty cool movies came out in 1985 i think.

  • Oh someone please post this movie online:)

  • this clip doesn't seem to want to load for me?

who ever put this up should put up that clip of dorothy seeing tick tock for the first time and winding him up.

    that would be awsome.

    thanks!

  • such a good movie, even if they did mix up Ozma's and dorothy's hair color....

actually, Baum said ozma was a blonde at first, then later changed her to a dark haired girl.

i wish someone like tim burton would notice Oz and make a new movie(s) I want a whole series!

  • If Tim Burton re-did this film it would be incredible. - Someone ought to tell him.

  • I wish we could.

he's probably considered it, but maybe we should petition him....hehehe.

  • It's Tim Burton's #1 FAVORITE movie. Can't you just tell, ha ha!

He owns a print of it and screens it for friends.

  • No. I don't want Tim Burton anywhere near my beloved OZ.

  • do you mean the real Oz by baum or the corny, yet lovable movie?

He surely couldn't hurt it if he stuck close to the books the way he did with Charlie and the chocolate factory.

That is the only Burton film I enjoyed, i didn't like edward scissor hands or the nightmare before christmas.

  • Baum's OZ. I do love the movie for sentimental reasons. I just find that instantly, Tim Burton puts his stamp on things, and I really do not want that.

  • I do like Tim Burton films- in light dosages, of course, they all seem to have a common feel to them (in other words, curly hills, psychadelic patterns, and a terrible line of t-shirts at Hot Topic)- but I don't think he would do OZ correctly. His mood wouldn't be right for OZ. If any director were to remake OZ, I would like to see Del Toro take it on.

  • interesting....

i want to see Dorothy as a blonde though, whoever does it.

Or at least a lot closer to Neil's illustrations.

i really thought neill did much better than denslow.

which Oz books do you think should be remade? I think the first three, then probably the emerald city of oz blended somehow with Dorothy and the Wizard and the Road. If those did well, i'd welcome the patchwork girl for sure!

  • Yes, I'd definitely like to see the first three, with a blonde Dorothy. I would like to so them stick with the Silver Slippers as well. That way, the films (old and new) could be seen as seperate entities. (As much as I love the ruby slippers, it isn't canonically correct- but it showed up better on film.)

  • yeah, silver shoes are way better.

the ruby ones are cute, but i was disappointed that disney used them.

sorry to keep responding so much, it's just so rare to meet a fellow Oz enthusiast. (who actually has read the books) I did love the way disney's tinwoodsman looked though.they did most of the characters besides Dorothy and Ozma well i thought...and the Nome King and Languidere/mombi. ehh..i guess some changes were necessary at the time.

  • Yeah, it was 1985. I think there are a lot of people, who haven't read the books, who would have been confused by silver shoes. I guess being since they sort of pitched themselves as a sequel to the original, they stuck to staples of the original film.

  • I agree with you 100%. I'd love to see Del Toro take on Oz.

  • hmm, i suppose you are right.

  • Esta pelicula es preciosa, de las pocas que quedan, cuando a la compañia disney no le importaba tanto el dinero y se preocupaban mucho mas porla calidad de toda la pelicula

  • i love this movie...ohh sweet memories

  • YAAAAY!! I LOVE RETURN TO OZ!!!!
