  • this song is the jam!!! the thing I love about youtube, is that the old music that was made before you were born, is available at click of a mouse! You just need to look in the right places!

  • it's stuff like this that makes me want to open a muzic school and start my own network...just to make this possible again..

  • I AGREE WITH U DUDE THIS IS WHEN REAL MUSIC WAS MADE

  • Is the first second the little jingle for HULU???

  • Top three complaints you'll find on all the classic music uploaded to YouTube

    1. Hip Hop artists sampling the music

    2. The current state of the music industry (often expressed negatively)

    3. The number of dislikes to a song which is regarded as classic or great.

What you won't find in abundance are people just enjoying the music and commenting on how it affects them personally.

  • WOW!!!! This is something serious!!!

  • I can't believe I never heard this!

  • Whats wrong with a Pac fan searching for originals of the song samples he loves...?

  • @VoarickNL90 Nothing at all! That makes you not just a Pac fan, but a music fan.

  • I guess this an answer to "Summer Madness". Beautiful.

  • Pure Class!!! the other side of the coin to summer madness!!! Proper Music!!!!

  • @ eric i will respectfully say you are wrong and right. there is ALOT of great hip hop out there as i listen to it very often. but on the flipside, there is ALOT of whack stuff that i can barely stand coming out.

  • I'm glad to know that Hip Hop did come from a Beauty that turned into a Beast.

  • deep..

  • Ahaa I thought so. I just got this cd and thought it sounded a lot like 2PAC 'Picture Me Rollin'.

Now I can relax, knowing that it is infact..8^)

Also 'All About U' was ripped from Cameo- 'Candy' .

And De La Soul's song 'Change In Speak' sampled Cymande- 'Bra'.

And Eminem's song 'My Name Is', sampled Labi Siffre- 'I Got The'.

But De La Soul has most definately done the most sampling than any rap artists.

I swear, these rappers listened to the FINEST music.

  • @FunkyWhitePimp Nobody gives a fuck, they sampled the greats because they were too shit to write a great piece of music themselves.

  • @DHScherocha sure they did. SP1200. do your homework.

  • @DHScherocha and also man, people do care. just not you because its not your culture. ok thats fine. but understand there are mad people into hiphop culture and are interested where the samples came from.

  • @KeepItFresh02 Oh I love good rap. Key word being good, not this posturing faggotry like 50 cent or eminem.

  • @DHScherocha word up man. you know the deal.

  • @DHScherocha eminem is good rapper.

  • @MistaTamilan but he rap about the gayest shit.......sticking gerbils up his ass? for real tho Give Me Nas anyday I can relate to Nas

  • @AndreRedd1Empire Nas, DMX, and Eminem rap about real stuff nowadays Eminem and DMX got over that phase of rapping bout stupid shit and violence. thats what the industry wanted them to do and now there doing what they want.

  • @FunkyWhitePimp You forgot to add Trae and Slim thug - Nothing to a boss. lol

  • Wow, after all this time, this song still sounds wonderful. A true master piece.

  • i see death around corner !!!

    picture me rollin

  • Sit back, relax, and u've got your one way ticket out of this world for a marvelous 5 minutes when the whole universe goes still......simply beautiful.

  • I Hear........... Harmony.

    & It Is Beautiful.

  • When you don't see me, picture me rollin'

  • best era of music

  • 2pac - PIcture me ridin'

  • This song reminds me of raking the leaves before a big snow fall here in Mich. I agree with Sylv3t0r. It does convey the death knell to fall and onrush of winter.

  • It was alway's a joy to play this at the edge winter and Summer Madness at the beginning of Summer. You have life in its fruition and death waiting at the door.

  • @Highflyer804 I have to agree, and may I say that you stated that quite beautifully. There's the synchronicity between life and death, and how Kool & The Gang made that connection between the seasons in this coupling of songs (this and "Summer Madness") with such sonic eloquence absolutely speaks to the truth of what you pointed out. There's a tragicness in the wail of "Winter", but a cosmically serene sort of sensibility to it. It's just the way it goes.

  • Fuck Weezy, Fuck wiz, i wanna get high to kool and the gang from now on! lol

their music hits you right in the soul. i bet it sounds 20x better high

  • Real music...

  • Moar...

  • Nice posting. Never heard this track before as smooth as summer madness. Again, nice posting.

  • This is Jazz-Funk. That's not totally Jazz. Not totally Funk. In fact, it's pretty much the Kool&Gang style. ;)

  • What type of jazz is this? I think there are different types of jazz. Is this even considered jazz?

  • fire it up

  • @Dsquadddd why not do both though..?

  • 2:25, amazing beat, taken by trae and turned into an AMAZING song. Would have never guessed that it was actually a borrowed beat.

  • @Krysco51 what song couldnt find it bro

  • @phillybirds69 Trae - Nuthin to a Boss (its a rap song), so you probably wouldnt like it unless your into that kind of music.

  • @william52648 summer madness !

  • Truly wish everyone could have seen this group live. 70's concerts were fantastic and cheap. $10.00 - $15.00 for three separate groups and/or artists.

Thank you for some great times Kool & The Gang.

  • LSD

  • great name for the track. It's like an understated, muted, ambient flip-side version of Summer Madness. you can hear bits of Summer Madness in it, but on a different level, if you get what I'm trying to state.

  • I wish DT Thomas sang more songs like this back then.

  • who are the 5 A-holes who dislike this!?

  • Pete rock sampled this "midnight and you"

  • Trae-Nothin to a boss....he sampled this @ 2:29....

  • Spirit of the Boogie is a killerLP!!!

  • so sad that there's no live version of this song on youtube

  • honestly tupacs version is wack as F*&K! pete rocks version is ight but the org. is always the best, ya know?

  • @coolmon33 public relationship are complicated

  • @coolmon33 It's probably those '90's babies who don't know much about real music!

  • @coolmon33 who the hell is gucci mane?

  • @tsilll gucci mane 1017 brrr brrr brrr

  • this music puts me in such a great mood. i feel like spitting a couple of hip hop lines or maybe just gettin intimate with my girl. winter is here and id love more than to warm the souls of those who need passion in their lives.

  • man i am 23 and grew up on this old school $hit there is not any music that comes close.

  • Whats funny is as much as people want to say this music sucks compared to todays music and their favorite "artists" they fail to comprehend that those same artists grew up on this music AND/OR use this music in their samples to make their songs... Tupac - picture me rollin, Trae Tha Truth & Slim Thug- Nuthin to a Boss... just to name 2, these artists see the beauty in the music so those insulting it... well make a few million and then your opinion might make more sence/cents lol

  • real chillin smoking weed fuck lil gay wayne

  • @compton483 you want to fuck him?????

  • @MaCaRoNeL18 foool

  • great music!!

  • 1:34 to hear the sample :)

  • Please stop disrespecting someone else's craft & comparing two different eras of music & just enjoy this great music while we still have it.

  • @TheYoungHustlaTV All coolmon is saying is that modern music blows, Bands like Kool and the Gang are proof of this. All these artists of "craft" you speak of are lazy imitations of real musicians. Look at their hooks, their beats, stolen from Harold Melvin to Led Zeppelin. It seems like finding the poppy, tween sound to make money has trumped the whole learn your instrument and art well has gone out the window to feed the masses.

  • @surlygirlie i agree but i think its kinda cool that the stupid masses don't even know they are listening to this cool music, this old music is still there it hasn't gone anywhere we can still hear it, and the internet has made it easier for use to find more music we haven't heard. Classic situation --> the other day I was beat juggling funky drummer and some muppet was like "stop ruining lethal bizzle's record"!
