I remember this from 20 years ago. It was shown, dubbed, in Denmark. "Skønne Bertha" and "Postmand Per". Thanks to the BBC for creating entertaining shows for the rest of the world's children to see.
For 3 days I have been whistling this tune with no idea what it was but familiar nontheless. I just twigged a few minutes ago that it was this and the memories came flooding back!
everybody here in Perú older than 24 and younger than 30 probably remembers bertha and many other shows from britain or europe since the state channel ran these shows for years and were very popular, really.
IF You guys feel sweet memories of this song and the past decades, you should listen and discover the magic of the canterbury scene music of rock progresivve, i believe this sing has much in common with that kind of music so i'd recommend bands GREAT bands as ; CAMEL - breathless, I can see your house from here albums, RICHARD SINCLAIR, CARAVAN,etc etc, good luck feeling the same magic that i feel ...!
I've not got the soundtrack album but I've got this extended version of the theme tune on a cassette called Themes From Children's BBC. I copied it over to my Ipod and I've listened to it many times on the journey home from work/college in the evening.
Is it me, or did preschool shows of the day have better theme songs than any other? I would probably say this is one of the top 3 for best and catchiest of this category.
Oh man, I haven't seen this show for ages. Used to really love it as a kid in the 80s. I believe this is the first time I've heard the theme song in English. I think it was dubbed in Finnish over here.
@darkdaniel100, i remember this music of Bertha so well, i was wanting to ask you if i could use it in a video please,? i can understand if you wouldnt want me too, but if i could, i would give you full credit for it?
@pakmanmanc I wouldn't want them to, the narrator and main voceover passed away during the late 80s, and you just know it wouldn't be the same, look at Thomas, Fireman Sam and Postman Pat and you'll see what I mean. It's sad but Bertha would be better rebroadcast rather than remade, they just wouldn't do it justice.
@capmodesty i know he died, he was in the origional willy wonka film (another faveorite) not to mention a million other things, he was a reali famous actor in his day.
I remember watching this as a kid, remember liking this type of animation as a kid, watching this, Postman Pat and Charlie Chalk, man since computers became mainstream and computer animation became easier to do, children's tv has gone downhill since the these good old days.
@Dinosaur9317 I'm quite curious to find out, why would watching a programme when you are ill make you scared of it? Surely if you're not feeling well, a programme you really love watching would cheer you up
@Meanmanmartin2007 I know right? I don't even know what happened there- it's just the crazy things that happens to me when I go through a flu, like being afraid (temporarily) of The Nightmare Before Christmas *shurgs* I dunno, but it's ok now, of course. :) I couldn't stay scared of Bertha for long- long to be fair, it is kinda creepy if you think about it, I mean, it's a machine with a face that comes to life at night... but it's still a brilliant classic! :D
OMG - I feel so young but old if that makes any sense...I loved this program and always cried when it finished!! Bring back Bertha PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
totally love this tune used to watch this when i was yonger and im 18 now so its a long time since i heard it i know i8 is young but i was out not sure when it was but i wenr the 80's lol
Oh FANTASTIC!! Such a fun theme! I found myself singing this this the other day at work, and thought I'd look for it on YouTube! Thank you for uploading!
Thanks for sharing. Great to hear the full version of this.
I knew of an extended version of the theme tune, but didn't realise there was a full soundtrack album. If by any chance you're able to upload any of the other songs from it, I'd love to hear them. :)
