I just love this guitar so much. Had to turn it in, to adjust the neck and now i have to wait for two weeks to get it back. I miss it so much. Never had such feelings for an object before. I'm feeling weird...
Im looking for a dr500m and i have been researching for a while. I found two different ones. In the description ones says nickel satin and one says nickel gloss. can anyone tell me the difference? looks like they have different type fingerboards. And you can really play sounds great!!
This guitar sounds fantastic! I just purchased an epiphone masterbilt dr-500mce which is the acoustic electric version of this w/ cutaway. It's sounds great but the tone of yours is fuller or deeper. What kind of Strings are you using here/what strings do you recommend for it?
I just bought the AJ-500RE 1 min ago before I read your comment. I saw it on a video and loved it. Search "The Drummers of England - Russ Barenberg" and check it out. Cheers
I'm trying to decide between the AJ-500 or the DR-500, also mahagony or rosewood. what do you say ? It seems the AJ has more midrange and sound better for fingerpicking ?
Played a DR500MCE at guitar center the other day... Omg i loved playing it, sounded fantastic i couldn't believe the price and on top of that it had two types of pickups in it and was only 599.99
@ukeandgtr Would you mind if I linked this to the sale of my own DR 500 M? I love this guitar but plan on getting a EF 500 RA. Very nice video! -Your much smoother than I am and I can't get this good sound in my recording. ...What Mic is that?

@GeekG comon dude how can you find a full good quality solid wood guitar body under 600$???? even a taylor laminated sides with a solid stika pruce top cost like 900$ soo this is laminated
@GeekG it's very easy to know. For the top, look at the soundhole when you play. If the inner border has the same color, then it's solid. Besides, if it doesn't say SOLID, then it's not solid.
I just checked into this guitar and can't believe how affordable it is for this high quality "all solid wood" instrument. Kudos to epi and phenomenal playing to you sir!!! I think Martin and Taylor are gonna loose a substantial market if they don't start producing "all solid wood guitars" at this price point. IMHO
@scholzclub It depends of the sound you wanna get. Masterbilt dr500m has mahogany back and sides, while dr500r has rosewoods back and sides. Mahogany gives a more warm and sweet sound than rosewood. Rosewood sound is more brilliant. Sorry if my english is bad.
Ok, got mine just over a week ago, and the one I ordered sounded just as good as the one I demo'd. It blows me away...To find a guitar for 500 bucks that sounds as good as my vintage Taylor is astounding. This guitar is far superior to the low end ($1000) Taylor and Martins that are part plywood. The Epiphone is ALL solid wood!!! for $500!! Cant beat it. Anyone who says its not as good as Martin or Taylor has their head up their ass. Easily equal to the $2k all-solid wood Taylors and Martins.
I just bought one of these, so I could retire my Taylor 510 (20 years old). I have tried dozens of guitars over five years looking for a decently priced one, and was stunned when I played a 500m at my local guitar store. Tonal range is amazing. It will only get better with age. I ordered one from Americanmusicsupply online, and it arrived in great shape, with great action. Unbelievable guitar.
Just out of curiosity, between this model & your EF model, which do you prefer? I really like the sounds of these Epiphone Masterbilt models and am trying to decide which to invest in.
@ukeandgtr I got mine recently. The sound is amazing, but it had a high action and intonation problems. After a visit to a great luthier and for almost nothing, the action was fixed, the bad intonation fixed and the DR500M just delivers awesome sound, specially for the price.
is that dust my broom at the start?
