That's an interesting question. I would not recommend reusing waste oil from restaurants because most of the time it's been sitting in a large waste bin for who knows how long. The Racor filters will certainly get the oil clean enough to burn in a diesel vehicle that's got a working SVO system in it. As for whether one could eat the resulting oil, we would not recommend doing so.
It will actually repel off of the filter element and because water is heavier than oil, it will settle in the clear bowl at the bottom of the filter. After enough water accumulates in the bottom, you can open the small valve at the bottom of the bowl to drain out the water. This makes it very easy to keep the oil drained from your Racor Filter.
We have a great Video you might be interested in, check out your video for Liquid Gold 2. You'll learn all kinds of information for filtering large quantities of oil. Our automated one shot filtration system can handle filtering as much oil as you might want to filter through it. Obviously the cleaner the oil is to begin with, the fewer filter elements you'll have to switch out. Bag filters are also a low tech option. Check out our website as well for more information. Thanks for watching!
Hey dug this link off the infopop forums in trying to determine whether or not I need to upgrade to a Centrifuge from my existing Racor 1000FH with a 2 micron element; exactly the one used here. I've also found the oil to pass the hot pan test and I have very high quality pure WVO. In fact the one thing that this confirms is Racor is a Golden Product! Great vid! The only thing better would be an element designed for WVO, even after a 5 micron bag I go through elements in about 40 gal.
Filtering oil comes down to surface area. The greater the surface area of your media, the more vegetable oil you'll be able to filter. The FH1000 has alot more surface area than most filters, and with it's aqua block capabilities, it's a very good choice for filtering waste vegetable oil. Thanks for watching!
hey man thanks alot for the videos man. I was wondering if i can converter my 1997 saturn gas engine into a oil/diesle engine. Im jus cant afford the gas or to buy another car.
Unfortunately an SVO system will only work with a diesel engine. Gas engines use spark ignition and diesels use compression ignition. The good news is, most people can afford to buy a diesel vehicle and justify it because they know their fuel bill will be dramatically reduced, helping to offset the cost.
We are one of the oldest established S.V.O. companies around.
With top of the line components, some developed exclusively at GFS, a toll free tech support line, items which ship in a timely manner, a national dealer network, detailed instruction manuals and DVDs and more converted diesels on the road than any other company in the world, we'd like to think with all of these added values our system comes out on top.
Do your research, and if you don't choose us, we wish you the best of luck!
The FH1000 for example, If you filter your oil well before you put it in your veg. tank you'll get many miles on an element. If you put bad oil in your veg. tank the filter is going to clog faster. Generally good oil will get 3K-5K miles. We've had customers get far more than that. Basically when a car begins to feel sluggish when running on veggie, it's probably time to change the filter. How long the filter lasts depends on how diligent you are when you filter your waste veggie.
After filtering the waist vegetable oil, can you cook with it again or does the water repelling filter taint the oil into a hazardous material?
