American Idiot was alright, and 21CB had a few kickers, but now they're really in the power pop area, and it's going to take some work to get out.

@churchofruss Nope. I agree that they are not what they used to be. But if you listen to their two first albums, you clearly hear the DK influence. They were awsome at that time & the energy of their live shows are legendary. I Just pretend they never made "the pretty fly for a white guy" stuff... after that they went downhill in my eyes. They still put out their trademark fast-songs tough.... but its not the same. "Ignition" is an album you deffo should try out.

I disagree. Punk was the Pistols. DK were good, but a total ripoff. I saw the both back in the day live. Jello's running bullshit commentary got on everyones last fucking nerve. We didnt want preached to. Songs were good, but they didnt pay the dues, the Pistols did.

Dead Kennedy's actually sound a lot like some other local punk bands that came out before them. Not to say that they aren't awesome... Just sayin.
Also, the sex pistols were surely punk. Who am I to say, but they were doing what they wanted to do regardless, and that fashion you're talking about was based off a style which for functional purpose, was already existing. And Malcom, the guy you're refering to only managed the band, didn't produce them you ignorant prick. Punk is a mindset.

The Pistols werent produced by the Fashion designer, (a her by the way), Vivienne Westwood, just encouraged and helped with clothes, a little cash, drugs. DK's were ok, I liked them back in the day, I just got sick of Jello's political rant bullshit. He is a PITA.

And Warning? They totally fucked it up. Warning was really fucking boring, and they started to become more of that mainstream pop act the radio wanted them to be. I say, thank God for American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, most of it may have been shitty, but they're starting to go back to what made them good.

@SaucisseMerguez Nope, you see, when they signed with Reprise, it was because Lookout! Records could no longer support album sales of Kerplunk!, and the band wanted more people to hear their music. Insomniac and Nimrod were both great, but Warning was when they took the poppier edge to sell more records, as album sales had started to dwindle. American Idiot was alright, and 21CB had a few kickers, but now they're really in the power pop area, and it's going to take some work to get out.
