long live the the Kshatriya Khalsa Dharam of Akaal Purakh which was brought to this earth for one purpose..to destroy tyranny where ever it resides ..AKAAAAAAAAAL
yes many hindu brothers did protect sikh people, and we thank those great souls, however our fight has never been with the hindu people or hindu dharam but rather with tyrannical governments that existed through our short but very bloody history
thats not true u dumbass, read real history, by the time khalsa was formed to fight the mughals, hindu marathas had destroyed over 80% of the muslim army and not to mention that hindu rajputs regained their kingdoms back as well,
sikhs saved punjab and delhi, dont claim more than you have bitch
@rajownsyamom , history as documented by indian historians(read sycophants) bound to destroy SIKH culture, history !
Now go beyond what your history books have to say and look at the world has to say about that region ! .. Sikhs remained under the British rule for less than a century while the whole of India remained under British empire starting from the battle of Plassey (23 June 1757) till Aug 15th,1947
and the SIkhs would face, Ahmed Shah Abdali and Nadir Shah who , if it was not for the sikhs, would have looted the famous SOMNATH temple of gujarat , apart from taking numerous Hindu women as their mistresses.
The hindus came to limelight only when the rot had set in the mughal empire. Aurangzeb was quite an unpopular ruler , with his jazia taxes , et all ..
The Sikhs are famous for their wars with aurangzeb as well
To any Sikhs in the UK or Commonwealth come and join the british army and help fight islamic extremeism to other cultures around the world includeing muslim agression towards to the sikhs.
As Pakistani Constitution Don't Allow any Non-Muslim to occupy the 2 seats of President and Prime Minister n Pak Army don't select Non Muslims but when Harcharan Singh pleased to Serve Pakistan Army and Just said that PAKISTAN is my country,no1 can resist and stop me to serve my great homeland Pakistan. . . then we didn't care of Our constitution (as many christians served Pak Army before but on the same basis as Harcharan Singh selected ) and now he is the Man with honor in Pakistan Army !!
Don't get pissed off if you are a Sikh in America. We just aren't up to speed on other peoples of the world. Sikhs are a righteous people we just don't know it yet.
The US army policy is foolish in this stance. It is very simple to see that regardeless of negative change in the US throughout this kalyug, positive change is enivatable, its just a matter of time, although I also do feel the painful process of educating those without half a clue.
@showing the truth.. the Sikh were at the core of the British army in India, they were the british stick that kept the indians under british rule, without them india would not had been a part of the british empire for so long. They served the british in hope they would be granted their own independance, so they are not as loved by indians as believed.
hahaha man ppl here are very ignorant of history. Sikhs actually fought 2 wars with the brithsh called the anglo sikh wars. sikhs actually did something not just let the british walk all over them. punjab was the last indian kingdom to fall to the british mainly due to treachery by other non sikh so called allies. And who were the main figures in india's independence certainly not gandhi... Dont get me started on him he was nothing but a fraud. Read and get your facts straight.
2roo7ted is very ignorant of history. And does not see what large sacrifices sikhs have made for india. Sikh have no problem with any form of government being in power aslong as they are a just government.. Even the british made many good contributions to india. banning archaic hindu rituals. i could go on and on. Hindu majority and greed was the reason the British ruled india for so long
Of course you can wear a turbin in the us people need to be educated. They need to learn compassion and understanding. Not to be afraid of whats different. Sikhs continue to be proud.
Buddy the sikh were at the core of the british army in india, without them I doubt if the British could had held onto india in its empire for so long, they were the blade that keep indians down in hope they will gain own independents, so they are not loved by indians.
They were among some of the finest soldiers in the commonwealth army, they served in every british war, and their distinctions put many english regiments to shame.
Gandi was a racist fraud all his hunger strikes were fake. He accomplished nothing significant that wouldnt of happend with out him. Was killed by one of his own. India would be a better place if he would of just stayed in south africa.
@singh245 yes yess yess i totally agree u said the truth mann and u got 1 thumbs doen but don't worry now u haven't even got any thumbs down gandhi is was very very bad he planned indiasdestruction very very carefully
@singh245 I totally agree with you .. Gandhi was a fraud and he did not do anything in India's independence.. Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims gave sacrifices for the nation but all the credit went to Gandhi because of his fake hunger strikes and non violence crap..
@singh245 I'm half Punjabi so if you say something about ghandi i don t care but that hunger strike was real and that other stuff my last name is Singh SINGH IS KING!!!!!
@sumitbajaj2008 doesnt detract from the fact that he was a racist backstabbing perverted fraud who ignorant people love....if u actually read up about him, it will shock you, read the collected works of "mahatma" ghandi and you'll see that fraud was no saint. Apne Singha and open minded punjabi hindus/muslims were the only ones to really make a difference, kissing the noose as udham singh did.
bro honestly think about it, how is a man who's just starving himself and walking around helping achieve independence?
The British made ghandi the figure of independence because they wanted everyone to believe that his method of achieving independence is the real way so everyone follows his method and it is much easier to control crowds like this than those who fight for independence by taking up arms.
As a Pakistani i'm now aware of the Sikh sacrifices...i wish more Poeoples will realise Sikhs played a huge part in Indian Independence.....I don't understand why Ghandi gets all the credit(we all know how Ghandi really was)
I want to thank Sikhs today for the sacrafice of their Forefathers.
yea gandhi didnt do jackkk man, he walked around doing nothing, and once the british left, he was given the credit. all gandhis in indian politics have screwed Indians.
sikhs did not also contribute for independence, but we also kick the mughal asses as well,if it was not for he sikhs, the whole of india would have converted to islam
For the record, I don't believe the US is uniquely discriminating against Sikhs. I know of Sikhs that have been allowed to maintain a beard and turban, but no precedent has been set...perhaps that will eventually change. I understand the military doctrine regarding uniforms, but there are plenty of Sikhs willing to die for their country that have been turned away because of their religion.
For those that are stuck on the belief that the US is full of hillbillies, please do educate yourselves.
The honest truth is that if the USMC were to ever allow Sikh accruitriments as part of their uniform then it would no longer be a uniform by definition. Furthermore, by letting the Sikh recruit be different he would get no respect by the D.I. or other recruits who all have to be part of the team. This would lead to bastardisation.
Notice this video does NOT show Sikhs who fought for the Wehrmacht(Tiger Legion) or the 50,000 Sikhs who fought on the side of the Japanese under Bose.
You make it sound like Sikhs were evil for taking sides in those conflicts. If you had a yoke of imperialism thrown about your neck for hundreds of years, you would surely abide by the imperialists' commands in times of struggle, wouldn't you?
Besides, pointing out that Sikhs fought for the enemy is like pointing out that Christians did as well--in short, you have no point.
the attack on germany world war 2,from monte carlo,my grand father Sepoy Gian singh Jat ,yes last name jatt spelled jat, 3-panjab regiment ,drew the 1st blood of germans on german territory,my father retired lt.col from Indian army,me nothing in that pathbut very fine otherwise, forget US army, choose ur nation which gives u respect fighting in vain is vainful as giving up,they the army in question is losing worthwile soldiers .Why do we care?
@ravirajsingh76 one thing id like to ask u, and dont get me wrong im not a racist: y r u proud of ur grandfather shedding blood, god i miss wen skhism was peaceful (just a histroy of violence after shri guru nanak ji)
my heart is for sikh people they have dedicted their life always for the army their military history is amazing i have been studying them if my message could bring some change and help it i will really be happy the americans don't know what they are losing the SIKH people are pure warriors amazing and you know what makes indian army the strongest because of sikh people
I support your effort.....just pointing out that it would have been nice to mention that some pictures were from Indian Army, Air Force NSG etc also.......after all the 'UN troops' in the video were from the Sikh Regiment and Sikh Light Infantry Regiment from India.........
turban is not a show off, it is an identity. one does not have to be baptised to wear a turban. if you are a sikh, you are supposed to wear it. baptism is option in sikhism and is followed only when one feel like. you should not be confuse sikhism and baptism. i dont know much about US army, but i know something about Indian army. You have to wear turban to join Sikh regiment but ones not supposed to wear a turban to any other regiment.
The Battle of Saragarhi is considered one of the greatest stories of collective bravery in human history.
The contingent of twenty-one soldiers from the 36th Sikhs was led by Havildar Ishar Singh, and held off an Afghan attack of 10,000 men for several hours.
All 21 Sikh soldiers chose to fight to the death instead of surrendering.
In recognition of their supreme sacrifice, the British Parliament rose to pay them respect, and each one of them was awarded the Indian Order of Merit (equivalent to the Victoria Cross).
The battle has been compared to the Battle of Thermopylae, where a small Greek force faced a large Persian army of Xerxes (480 BC).
Saragarhi Day, is a Sikh military commemoration day celebrated on 12 September every year annually to commemorate The Battle of Saragarhi. Sikh military personnel and Sikh non-military people commemorate the battle around the World every year on September 12.
Religion in general is being depleted in the US Army. There is no such thing as freedom of religion in the US army, I guess. I am writing to ask that the ones who serve in the army are baptized Sikhs? If not, why are they obligated to wear a turban. I know Sikhs who don't wear a turban and they are not baptized so when these non-baptized Sikhs serve, why do they have to show off a turban. Turban and the other 4 things are worn by baptized Sikhs. I am just asking. Clarify please.
i m a sikh with no turban but it does'nt mean that i m not a sikh but my father has turban and he is proud to have it and me too..sometimes according to circumstances some dont have it but they respect it more than their life
Thats why the US is hated by all over the world....The US think that they are superior than others & refuse to recognise & respect those who are different to them. Oh well their loss...Sikhs are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to warriors...If the US dont want sikhs....then it'll be their loss.
The military isn't refusing to let them join, it doesn't want them to wear their turbans and keep their long hair because it violates the dress regulations. It's nothing personal against Sihks
sikh r the only ones who sacrifices their life to save ppl does nt matter its ani religion.. like our guru sahib ji sacrifice their lifes to save the humanity ...... god bless him gr8 pwr ......
Im in the US Army, and have been in combat twice. I dont care what a man wears on his head next to me when the bullets fly. If hes ready to shed his blood for me and my country then he is my brother until the end of the world!
There can be several reasons to not allowing turbans..For example sikhs in the US army caught by an enemy, then the enemy will do much to harass the sikh soldier and shave the head is most likely..
Forgive me,gone are the days when Armies were used for peaceful means.Today they are used as private armies of the super elite who use them to conquer countries and slaughter millions, all in the name of PEACE and FREEDOM.
I totally understand why one would join the Military, but I don't support and agree with it.
I personally don't care for any Army, let alone the US Army.
I guess there is a widespread educational twist to this,if they are recruited, accepted it gives a positive of Sikhi.
if they work in other countries then they gotta respect the foreign countries rules and customs. if they dont wanna take off their turban then they should return to India.
on 911 my fater went through avery rough time people would gurfede on our house protest wanted us to leave because they thought we were terrorists. very bad.
Honestly, think about it. I'm sure the Sikhs are very proud people. But they would get so much shit being in any military branch. Especially the Marine Corps. But, like I said, this is not hate. I just feel that they should conform to military standards if they're joining the military to begin with. It was their CHOICE to join the military. They're sacrificing their lives for the American people. Why shouldn't they be able to sacrifice(some of) their religious beliefs?
I dont understand why any of our Sikh brothers and sisters would want too even join the American army, their cause is one of much confusion and illusion.
Why wouldn't a Sikh want to be part of the Greatest Civilization of the World? The Vedic Dhrama, is the most advance civilization. Modern Sikhism is very weak. Because of the Sikhs india is free. Well one of the reason they were great fighters. I am not sure why Sikhs don't want to stick with their original dhrama. It is quite funny how they want to be different, to bad it won't work lol. What nonsense. If you are a real Sikh recognize your Real Dhrama, stop being a coward!
Time for the sons of punjab to return and enjoy the land they belong to... life in india is better than any place on earth now and people can really come back and live with full dignity..
This is only stupid of USA... cause sikhs are undoubtedly the bravest and most importantly the most patriot people in the world... even if they bear the nationality of USA they would love and defend the land... i am Hindu but i can vouch for that...
Understand this: we are a nation under GOD- this means ADONAI, NOT some false idol called "ALLAH"--a LIE used to create propaganda against our nation. YOU are being lied to and now you spit these same venomous lies. Why do you expect to fight in our armed services knowing full well you will be told to fight against other muslims? If I was told to fight against Christians I could nat do so: how can you? Simple:you will LIE and SAY you will but then deceive in the name of your god the devil!!!
i do hope u realize that sikhs are not muslims.. and as far as not fighting against christians, does that mean you wouldn't have fought in the revolutionary war? anyways i'm pretty sure Jesus was against discrimination, remember He said "there is no Jew, there is no Greek"
I am a Hindu and we owe a great debt to these Warrior Saints all through our history for their great sacrifices. If the U.S Rejects them in its Army, It does so at its own cost and loss.
The Sikhs ought to wear helmets in modern combat. I understand how the hair & turbin are signs of their religious commitments & oaths & all. Still, exposing your head in combat like that is dangerous.
Can't an abbreviated version of the turbin be worn in combat?
Also, I think that our military should make accomodation of religious garb. Jews should be able to wear their yalmukas & Sikhs their turbins.
It isn't that the Sikh Identity is rejected. It is that the military will permit no variation in the dress code b/c of religious identity of any kind. Many Ortho. Jews have also sought variation on the dress code re: their traditional yalmuka head dress. This has also been refused. I believe the military is axious about having the whole dress code break down from seekers of personal variations.
I think this manner of thinking is mistaken. Such variations should be allowed. Our Founders would.
Sikhs should be allowed to waer turbans in uniform. They are in the UK armed forces and police, I have seen Sikh police officers wearing black turbans, and two sikhs have recently stood guard at Buckingham Palace, I'm not a Sikh myself but when in a battle you dont care about if the guy who has your back is wearing a turban or what religion, colour or creed he is

Gj1118 1 year ago 3
@rajownsyamom
and the SIkhs would face, Ahmed Shah Abdali and Nadir Shah who , if it was not for the sikhs, would have looted the famous SOMNATH temple of gujarat , apart from taking numerous Hindu women as their mistresses.
The hindus came to limelight only when the rot had set in the mughal empire. Aurangzeb was quite an unpopular ruler , with his jazia taxes , et all ..
The Sikhs are famous for their wars with aurangzeb as well

The US army policy is foolish in this stance. It is very simple to see that regardeless of negative change in the US throughout this kalyug, positive change is enivatable, its just a matter of time, although I also do feel the painful process of educating those without half a clue.

@showing the truth.. the Sikh were at the core of the British army in India, they were the british stick that kept the indians under british rule, without them india would not had been a part of the british empire for so long. They served the british in hope they would be granted their own independance, so they are not as loved by indians as believed.
2Roo7ted 1 year ago
hahaha man ppl here are very ignorant of history. Read and get your facts straight.
singh245 1 year ago
2roo7ted is very ignorant of history. And does not see what large sacrifices sikhs have made for india. Sikh have no problem with any form of government being in power aslong as they are a just government.. Even the british made many good contributions to india. banning archaic hindu rituals. i could go on and on. Hindu majority and greed was the reason the British ruled india for so long

They were among some of the finest soldiers in the commonwealth army, they served in every british war, and their distinctions put many english regiments to shame.

SardarDholi 1 year ago
bro honestly think about it, how is a man who's just starving himself and walking around helping achieve independence?
The British made ghandi the figure of independence because they wanted everyone to believe that his method of achieving independence is the real way so everyone follows his method and it is much easier to control crowds like this than those who fight for independence by taking up arms.

325782 2 years ago 2
The honest truth is that if the USMC were to ever allow Sikh accruitriments as part of their uniform then it would no longer be a uniform by definition. Furthermore, by letting the Sikh recruit be different he would get no respect by the D.I. or other recruits who all have to be part of the team. This would lead to bastardisation.
Notice this video does NOT show Sikhs who fought for the Wehrmacht(Tiger Legion) or the 50,000 Sikhs who fought on the side of the Japanese under Bose.
arnbo88 2 years ago
You make it sound like Sikhs were evil for taking sides in those conflicts. If you had a yoke of imperialism thrown about your neck for hundreds of years, you would surely abide by the imperialists' commands in times of struggle, wouldn't you?
Besides, pointing out that Sikhs fought for the enemy is like pointing out that Christians did as well--in short, you have no point.

turban is not a show off, it is an identity. one does not have to be baptised to wear a turban. if you are a sikh, you are supposed to wear it. baptism is option in sikhism and is followed only when one feel like. you should not be confuse sikhism and baptism. i dont know much about US army, but i know something about Indian army.

1stmerc 2 years ago
In recognition of their supreme sacrifice, the British Parliament rose to pay them respect, and each one of them was awarded the Indian Order of Merit (equivalent to the Victoria Cross).
The battle has been compared to the Battle of Thermopylae, where a small Greek force faced a large Persian army of Xerxes (480 BC).

@thefalconz13, You don't know what the U.S. Army has lost by rejecting the Sikh identity.
Give equal weapons and other things that matter to both sides in a war. The side with Sikh soldiers in it will overcome.
Refer to the Sikh history down the ages.
Indian sub-continent is not muslim over-run today, as there are other religions and beliefs practiced there. Thanks to the Sikhs.

Why wouldn't a Sikh want to be part of the Greatest Civilization of the World? The Vedic Dhrama, is the most advance civilization. Modern Sikhism is very weak. Because of the Sikhs india is free. Well one of the reason they were great fighters. I am not sure why Sikhs don't want to stick with their original dhrama. It is quite funny how they want to be different, to bad it won't work lol.
VictorLepanto 2 years ago
It isn't that the Sikh Identity is rejected. It is that the military will permit no variation in the dress code b/c of religious identity of any kind. Many Ortho. Jews have also sought variation on the dress code re: their traditional yalmuka head dress. This has also been refused. I believe the military is axious about having the whole dress code break down from seekers of personal variations.
I think this manner of thinking is mistaken. Such variations should be allowed. Our Founders would.
