@VanceChristopher24 i have a 2006 but it drives like it is at lest 14 years old. It handles like a school bus, has drum brakes in the back, no esc, anti-lock braking, or traction control. Seriously i have kicked the back end out on that car so many times its not even funny. It was a good cheap car but i want something a little better.
I like these cars. I've been looking at used 2011 LTs. Drove a 2007 SS with the V8 yesterday. That one is scary, in a good way. ;) Sure wish they'd let it go for what I can pay. Such fun cars to drive, LT and SS.
That plastic wood trim stuff is such crap. Really cheapens things. I don't think the SS I drove had that, but all the LTs did. There is worse, drove a 06 Lincoln Zephyr and that thing was just silly on the inside. Worth TDing a used one just to get a laugh.
I just got one of these for my company car. Everything is the same except the interior is black and mine has 172K miles...but you would never know it...looks and runs excellent! I just got this car yesterday and havent had a chance to see what all the buttons do....glad you posted this, now I have a better idea!
I've got an 06 LS series, Looks just like that actually, granted different color. There's not a whole lot of difference between the LS and LT is there?
i just got this exact car, except white and with a wierd "automatic 3 on the tree" tranny. puts out 220 hp if its in good condition, and chevy isn't lying with that140 on the speedometer! its a great car! the only thing with it is the ECU (computer) can go bad, but thats no big deal.
Come see Kyle at John Thornton Chevrolet in Lithia Springs, GA for both new and used vehicle sales! We have a great selection and are the biggest Corvette dealer in Atlanta!
I totally dig Impalas, always have, very clean/traditional styling and great ride. And RE: Is3100sfi's comment, although I agree with most of it, making blanket statements about anyone, including both of those is kind of ignorant.
I got the SS the only version of the impala that im willing to drive.....The other impalas are okay but.....seems like everybody has em....the ss is rare
Another storage compartment is found under the rear passenger seats. there's a tab where the upper and lower connects that can be pulled and open comes more storage! also, when folding the rear seats down, they will lie flat even with items in the storage compartment. Not sure how many impala owners/sellers know this, my salesperson sure didn't but it is an awesome feature
If any one knows the 1996-1999 Oldsmobile 88 or LSS, It is similar to the Impala. The specs are quite the same, and I think if Oldsmobile was still in business The 88 would've been the brother or sister of the Impala. If you know what I mean.
And to think that the Impala was the best selling car in America. Ohh but how long ago that was. Chevy just needs a major update on this. It needs the Malibu's 6 speed, the Camaro's soon to be 323 hp 3.6l v6, a better looking exterior and interior like the Malibu will have. But It needs to retain its good interior space and dimensions. ect, ect.
my grandparents got one and i drove it a few times. its a great car but to me feels kinda sluggish because i like quick cars but its big and has great rear leg room
these 2006 on up impalas are pretty nice for a newer car. EZ car to live with on a daily basis if your a commuter. about 26 to 28mpg... good sound system too.
I love the exterior styling on this impala! I absolutely hate most modern styled cars because they look really goofy and queer like a woman or a fag designed them(no offense to anyone). I prefer this more basic "bland" car styling it looks more badass and traditional than other modern vehicles in my opinion.
Do yourself a favor. Stay far away from this car. Most are rental cars, they still use a dated 4 spd auto, they are huge on the outside but cramped on the inside, they are slow to accelerated bc the pushrod V6 makes only 221 hp and the 4 spd isn't helping either. Back seat is tight, handling is ungainly, and the fit and finish is awful. If you want a full size American sedan, look at the new Taurus otherwise a family sedan like the Honda Accord offers more room, power, & gas mileage
@xoquixxoqafxo I'm not trying to start anything but what I'm saying is the truth. I compared my Uncle's 2006 Lincoln Town Car to my 2008 Impala and the quality of the Impala was a whole lot better. Yes the Lincoln has a lot more features. But over all the Impala is much better. My Uncle has had to take the Lincoln back to the dealer 5 times in the last 6 months trying to find the electrical problem that causes the whole dash to go out while driving. The vehicle only has 13,000 miles on it.
the Town Car is an old POS, take a look at the new Fords, The new Taurus or Lincoln MKS, they are just soo much better cars and it represents where ford is going towards in the quality of their vehicles. The Town car is going out of production soon and it represents old Ford.
@xoquixxoqafxo how many miles have you put on an impala? Myself and 2 of my friends own former rental cars - wooptie-doo. Just means they are stirpped down more (ie - no ABS, OnStar or side impact air bags)
@xoquixxoqafxo well yeah there are things about them that are quite old, like Hydromatic 4T65E automatic transmission thats been around since the mid 1990s. Comming from a guy that drives 20 to 35 miles to get to work (depends) i value comfort and an ez-to-live-with interior over "style" and high tech crap like Ford SYNC. I like to relax in my Impala for my nearly 1 hour drive home each night...
Since you usually need to spend $20,000 on a 1-2 year old Impala, Id say for the same money, I'd rather have a Honda Accord or Ford Fusion, they are just as comfortable, get better gas mileage, handle better, looks better, has better resale value, reliability, and built quality. Sorry, but the Impala is just a pointless and stupid choice for the money for me.
@xoquixxoqafxo Well the new fussion is one of the nicest looking cars on the road today, i actually want a fusion hybrid but the fussion is a mid-sized car and the hybrid is expencive. As for 20k for a 1-2 year old impala.... well i paid like 60% of that for mine and it wasnt even 2 years old when i picked it up w/ 30,000 miles.... I was just bord yesterday :-)
yeah my bad, used Impalas, even 2010 models go for under 20 grand. Tells you something about their resale value... as in its very crappy. The Fusion may be midsize but its feels roomier in cabin space over the Impala. The Impala's back seat is pathetic for a full size car, only thing that makes it full size is the huge trunk. The new Taurus would be my choice if I had to buy a full size sedan.
@xoquixxoqafxo humm.. cant argue w/ the tarus, it is a new car as of like 2 years ago vs the impala was redone 5 years ago but it is still based on the same basic design as the W body cars of 12 years ago.
@mustang633NY oh hey... you did a review of the impala and you stated how your family had buicks... same basic idea. I do wish the impala's dash was a bit better, like the monte carlo of 06-07.
@Joseph9536 uhh NO! sure i like chevys and fords alot, but don't compare them to honda. The reliability and quality of hondas are FAR superior to fords and chevys. I have a 2010 civic, but i also got a 2009 mustang gt. The mustang is my favorite, but the honda just seems more pleasing to drive and you have a feeling that it will never stop or give up on you.
I agree with you 100% dude, I love the new Fords but every time I drive a Honda I always get that sense that will keep going for a very long time. I don't get that in American cars, even tho Ford has really improved the quality of their vehicles. Honestly, Im not a fan of GM still. If I had to choose American I'd buy Ford.
@goodson305 yes but in my eyes if you want leather and all the options you could buy a buick which is an all around nicer car for around the same price (used)
@goodson305 LS is base model (steel wheels) LT has a compas, dual zone AC/heater, aluminum wheels and LT options include a larger motor, dual exhaust tips and other things. The LTZ model is the top-of-the-line for any chevy car
i have one just lke this but its an 08 3.5 its very quick and not at all SLOW i timed my implala on a flat smooth road and got to 60 in 7.2-7.5 sec very strong!!!
Hey you mind doing a video of its much better looking brother the Grand prix? I own one and think it would be great if you could add a nice GP to your video collection
@Jakeman2164 that's beacuse when you floor it, you expect a lot because the engine is reving really fast when in fact, it has no more power to give because the 3.5 GM v6 gives 100% of its power at 3700rpms, so when you passed 3700 rpms, you were not getting nothing else.
that car had a 3.5 ( 3500cc) engine. That was the smallest of the 3 engines available, a 3.8 ( 3800cc) engine. The 5.3 ( 327 ci) engine is the only engine offered on the SS impala.
I drive a 2008 Chevy Impala LT with the 3.5 V6, and it is a great car!!!! I have no complaints about the car. It's very reliable, it gets great gas mileage, and it's very roomy both inside and in the trunk. Thanks so much for doing the review on this Impala. Your reviews are great!!!!
dude Kyle. I gotta give you major props, you do the best job of reviewing cars on YouTube. No one else does quite as good as you, they don't go as in depth with the cars as you. i would like to try to start doing this since my dad is the manager of a ford dealer i could get a lot of cars to do like some new 5.0 mustangs and some new gt500's.
If anything I think the next Impala should be targeted towards the latest Ford Taurus. A large family car with optional AWD and a sport SS model to compete with the SHO. And make it alot more stylish worthy of carrying the flagship status for Chevrolet.
@85ZingoGTR we recently had one for a rental, and i thought the same thing. the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable, but the dash is from a Tahoe and the steering wheel is from the 80's.
@85ZingoGTR Keep in mind that some people just want a nice, reliable, straight forward vehicle. This vehicle is targeted more at that market. Simple, straight forward no frills. Honestly I think it's a very nice car and a good example of less is more. If you want something with more of a sporty or update "Look" then try the Malibu.
It's so bad that the new impalas are almost only with V6 engines..Look at the old impala.LT1!What a power, what a sound!Of course there's the SS model...but I think that the V8 engines should be mounted even in basic models.Great video Kyle :)
Bass: -2 lol... Who was that idiot...? Anyway nice car, I always loved that center console. Can you do a tour of that white Focus, next to the Impala? Thanks!
I find the newer electronic power steering assist to be a bit weird. I had to drive my friend's impala out of the sand and it through me off a bit. It didn't have the smooth feel that the hydraulic systems have and it made some disconcerting groaning sounds under heavy load. Plus, my other friend has a Chevy Cobalt with the same type of system and the thing would shut off after 5 minutes and flash the message POWER STEERING on the display. Apparently it's common because there was a recall.
definitely getting an impala once i graduate in the summer, i fucking hate my chrysler sebring.

Hey you mind doing a video of its much better looking brother the Grand prix? I own one and think it would be great if you could add a nice GP to your video collection

@TRAINS1975 yea, because it's bigger, that's obvious.
kendrickevans301 1 year ago
@Jakeman2164 that's beacuse when you floor it, you expect a lot because the engine is reving really fast when in fact, it has no more power to give because the 3.5 GM v6 gives 100% of its power at 3700rpms, so when you passed 3700 rpms, you were not getting nothing else.
kendrickevans301 1 year ago
that car had a 3.5 ( 3500cc) engine. That was the smallest of the 3 engines available, a 3.8 ( 3800cc) engine. The 5.3 ( 327 ci) engine is the only engine offered on the SS impala.
kendrickevans301 1 year ago
Yo u should do a test drive im thinking of getting an 09 Impala SS
TJacksonQB10 1 year ago
I drive a 2008 Chevy Impala LT with the 3.5 V6, and it is a great car!!!! I have no complaints about the car. It's very reliable, it gets great gas mileage, and it's very roomy both inside and in the trunk. Thanks so much for doing the review on this Impala. Your reviews are great!!!!
impaladave77 1 year ago
@impaladave77 i also have driven them the only thing i didnt like was the accelerater is slow to respond from 80KPH to just over 140
poskyflyer 1 year ago
@poskyflyer That's a strange problem. I've never experienced that with my Impala.
impaladave77 1 year ago
@impaladave77 its not really a problem its just a little delay

You can also get this car with a bench seat in the front with a column shift.

@saabkyle04 The trunk of that car makes it prefect for vacation and the disposal of dead bodies, (if you're in the mafia, that is).

97I30T 1 year ago

Meh, I like the previous generation of the Impala the best. Which is why I drive one.

@saabkyle04 yes but the newer one has diff interior and system lights w/e thats why!
shivam220 1 year ago
If anything I think the next Impala should be targeted towards the latest Ford Taurus. A large family car with optional AWD and a sport SS model to compete with the SHO. And make it alot more stylish worthy of carrying the flagship status for Chevrolet.
85ZingoGTR 1 year ago
GM is in desperate need of redesigning this car. It just doesn't get anymore bland and outdated than this car.
85ZingoGTR 1 year ago 6
@85ZingoGTR we recently had one for a rental, and i thought the same thing. the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable, but the dash is from a Tahoe and the steering wheel is from the 80's.
stopscrewingaround11 1 year ago
@85ZingoGTR Keep in mind that some people just want a nice, reliable, straight forward vehicle. This vehicle is targeted more at that market. Simple, straight forward no frills. Honestly I think it's a very nice car and a good example of less is more. If you want something with more of a sporty or update "Look" then try the Malibu.

meh, nothing to write home about. it seems to me that it almost has a sortof "long face"

It's so bad that the new impalas are almost only with V6 engines..Look at the old impala.LT1!What a power, what a sound!Of course there's the SS model...but I think that the V8 engines should be mounted even in basic models.Great video Kyle :)
Brambor97 1 year ago
@Brambor97 They stopped making the SS. 09 was the last year.

@datboiwes3
What?!Are they nuts!Jesus Christ!I'm sorry i didn't know that.I'm from Poland.Holy shit...that car is so sweet,why did they stopped making it?
Brambor97 1 year ago
@Brambor97 They did not stop making the Impala all together, just the SS trim, the performance version of this car with the V8.
datboiwes3 1 year ago
@Brambor97 The SS comes with a 5.3 ( 327ci) engine.

Awesome shape for nearly 84,000 miles, is it a fleet or rental car? Many Impalas, particularly 2006 and up were rental cars at one point.
