  • good vid

  • It's one of those things that only get distracting once someone points them out.

God I wish didn't look at the comments.

  • Marc Pachter is interesting and you can see that he's humble. I got a lot out of what he had to say. He's an inspiration

  • woah!!. i got it..

  • Funny how he mentions Frost v Nixon. As a 17 year old Brit, I only know Frost as the host of celebrity day time show "through the keyhole". Couldnt beleive it when I heard about the critical political waves he had caused!

    ---

    Great vid btw! Cheers.

  • Wow, I just can't take this guy seriously with those hair plugs. What is he thinking? He's bald! Who does he think he's fooling?

"I'm not bald at all, just look at all these perfectly planted rows of hair!"

  • And?

    Go back to watch MTV

  • ugh the audio tech needs to wake up, there is a ring, and the gain is too high...

    I mean COME ON

your not REPRESENTING us very well...

  • learned nothing from this guy, too full of himself for no reason. some nerf talking about never asking humble people on to the stage for an interview

  • If you have nothing to be proud of you can't really talk about it... Simple as that.

I'm sure you could be talking for hours and most of your listeners couldn't really care of what you are saying.

And it takes unbelievable skill to share experiences that one is cherishing.

    :p

  • Does anyone read the comments before they add their own comment? We know he has hair plugs, you don't need to make the comment along with 50 others. Save the shallow, pointless comments for your texting.

  • wd. Did you notice the hair plug`s?.

  • @jjmm112 enough with the hair plugs!

  • nchinn. LOL!!.

  • Wow... cool hair plugs. Anyone else noticed them? Anyone?

  • Do you think anyone cares? Really!

  • I care. Since nobody cares... Does that make me a no-one?

  • If you seriously care about how hair implants look like you wouldn't bother moan about how visually distractive it is. What you care about is your personal preference. It doesn't make you no-one -and obviously- you are someone. It's simply absolutely irrelevant to the topic.

  • @michetox heh.

  • Yup. It looks unnatural. xD

  • Here in Canada we have a great show called "The Hour" and it's host George Stroumboulopoulos (yes that is his real last name) is an incredibly empathetic and gentle interviewer. He sees the good in everyone! He does have clips of some interviews on YouTube too!

  • Stroumboulopoulos? that is a Greek name! is he of Greek descent?

  • yes, he had a greek father and ukranian mother..

    hehehe

  • This guy could be curing cancer and ill still be staring at his horrendous plugs

  • very interesting. talking to great figures is one of the joys of life

  • I loved this interview. Amazing! :)

  • sorry, I can't understand this ted talk. Maybe I belong to the group that can not enjoy the E part in T E D?

  • ok then....explain the plugs sir

  • The main point I got out of it was this: You can get through to someone's "private self" by figuring out what it is that no one has asked them but that they wish they could tell people about. Other things: Not everyone will come through for you in this kind of interview, epecially modest people who believe everything in their lives happened by chance; and an interview of this type is more successful when the subject is old enough to know how things are going to turn out in their lives.

  • interesting lecture once he got rolling. I really wouldn't mind hearing more from this guy.

  • Toupees and hair plugs are so distracting. We men are so bad at this covering up our advancing age. It is better to just go white and or bald.

  • @chairde lol, Touché!

  • lol i'm 16. but i got really disturbed by his hair :)

  • his horrible fake hair plugs look disturbingly unnatural. couldnt finish watching the video. once you notice it its all you can see.

  • @heatersens WHAT HAS BEEN SEEEEN.

  • Cheers for making me notice it, you helped me to stop enjoying the video.

  • well just think of him as a brush like he said. Then it's easy to think it's natural someone pumped in some hairs on the top.

  • EASY!!!!!!!!!!lol

  • this was interesting and worth watching. ted is obviously getting more popular cause the comments are starting to get just as stupid as the rest of the idiot comments on youtube

  • I got really annoyed with his pace.

That has GOT to be one of the downsides to age that he mentioned in the beginning.

  • Hairplugs...

  • haha his hair is so fake the top part atleast.

  • lol, and your nick is "higher planes".

  • The art of interview is the art of listening, not talking. He is likely to be an amazing interviewer, I just wish he gave more information about the actual thing he did so the world could share in the amazing things he learned from these people. Oh well, I guess that's an internet age conundrum...

  • not just listening, asking the right questions is just as important.

  • It takes a courageous person to be honest in public. To put a name to the foibles and fears and mistakes and embrace all of it as part of a life lived is the mark of a person who understands the value of a legacy.

  • Where can I view or listen to these interviews themselves?

  • I like that the exit sign is green, as if to say "yes there is a fire, don't worry, come this way"

  • I don't think that's why they are green :) I'm guessing it's green because Green is easy to see in the context of smoke and FUCKING FIRE!!

  • heres what u do old dude , you go on utube and jibber jabber on vids and walla genius old ppl and noone watches it because the world is gone mad with idiocy, isnt this wonderful

  • cretin...voila

  • Should The Government : A. provide education B. provide Health care C. provide community development programs, Information and / or services D. All of the above, & set straight any disinformation. Or E. None of the above. Close schools, slash healthcare & community programs, & support a disinformation policy. Next Question Do You : A. Trust the government & do nothing B. Distrust the government & do nothing C. Force choice D. on the government
  • he'd look a lot better without that brush on top of his head

  • I think he's having hair planted on his head, but he's only been to one session, so it's very noticeable, hehe.

  • I know I'm being a horrible person, but aside from how good the talk was, does he have implanted hair?

  • Either this video is being reposted or he has given this talk before...but it is interesting to hear it again.

  • Borring.

How did this guy get on TED, and why put this online? It should just have been deleted.

  • seriously?

  • because people find it interesting.

  • @LazyStory, how old are you? i guess you are a teenager if you find this boring....

  • Excuse me, but since when is it concidered witty to retort ignorance with more ignorance? I'm a teenager and I don't find this boring. I'm sure there are many teenagers much smarter and better focused than you.

  • we've all been teenagers. We already know what and how they think.

  • shut the fuck up u pussy im 19 and I like TED

  • Oh wow your only 19 and you like college level lectures on entertainment. Awesome! your so smart and unique and full of potential! My faith in humanity is restored. Kiddo

  • i'm 22

  • well your name is nick so your a pussy too

  • Honestly no one cares what faith you have in humanity "Justwosweet". We just want you to stop spamming us with your worthless opinion.

  • lol im nineteen too

  • dear IanEColeman, all elephants are gray, but not all gray animals are elephants...

  • tomamil: that doesn't work. If what you were trying to say was that all teenagers are stupid, but not just teenagers, then this would make sense. But the fact is that some teenagers are bored by this video, but not all teenagers and not because they're teenagers. To be quite honest this kind of unsupported offensive crap, just proves that you arn't a real intellectual. I don't care how old you are.

  • what a good point

  • Holy Hair Implants---

  • haha

  • watch?v=VneNn04uWKc

  • I'm a high school senior who's applying to college and I have to go through some interviews. They're not the same his life series. But, it's an interesting perspective and backdrop.

  • Just buy your way in if necessary. "Higher Education" is a business, an industry, money driven....

  • Yep, but until I win the lottery or a sponsored scholarship, I have to deal this whole goofy process.

  • so true its disgusting

  • I don't think its disgusting. Private industry should be free to make sell their product to maximize profits. If it were sponsered by the government I would say otherwise, but really this just seems to me, the normal way things will be.

  • I'm in a similar position, but in the UK not US.

I think I may have to go for an interview for a couple of Universities I've applied for, but my choice in subject rarely asks for interviews (Molecular Biology).

  • Thanks TED. I'm snowed in. You're a saviour.

  • I would shuffle a bit the hair implants...

  • Bizarre. He shouldn't have tampered with genetics.

  • I love everything that constitutes this video experience.

  • great story and personality .)

  • so good idea, and so much you could learn from all the people...
