Hey man, this is sick. I am thinking about gettin some and I was wondering. Is there any way to connect these to be able to plug into a wall outlet? Thanks.
Anyway you could give more details on your custom controller? It looks pretty slick. I would buy the deal extreme one but I'm more interested in being able to mix a full color spectrum. Let me know if you've ever written up info on that or can point me in the right direction. I imagine it is just some kind of variable resistor on each color.
@jammin0 It's just four ON/OFF switches. One for turning on/off whole box and three switches for color setting - switching on/off each colors (RGB) of strip. There is no other components, just switches. You could use just potentiometers, but you would need to use pretty big ones because smaller one will burn fairly quickly. But better way is to use circuit with transistors and potentiometers. just search for 12V fan speed control circuit, it should work for this one too
@mcfik one last question, i would need to find a resistor between the plug and the red'n'black wire right? otherwise the circuit would be under 5A? or the LED strip says it uses 30 W and the adaptor can produce 60W so i need a resistor ?
@zintiz No, there is no need for resistor. Circuit will take only so much current to operate correctly. My box is connected to PC power source and this source can provide up to 60A.
hey mcfik, im thinking about buying those LED strips as well... but how do i connect the LEDs to get their power from a normal wall outlet? please help
@zintiz all you need is 12V adaptor and basic soldering skills. Or you can buy controler with IR remote from dealextreme (controler has 2 outpust, so you can plug two strips). But again, you'll need 12V adaptor (2A output would be ideal)
@zintiz yes, that would do the trick. my friend done this and it worked. or you can try find female connector (in radio shack, store with audio cables) and solder it to controler

@mcfik wow thanks for the quick reply, - 12V 5A 60W AC Power Supply Unit with 5.5mm DC Plug for LCD Monitors Cord - EU Plug (110~240V) would it do it?
then cut this plug of dealextreme . com / photogallery. dx / sku.15995~seQ.3.
Then sold the red'n'black to the plug
red'n'black wire dealextreme . com / photogallery . dx/ sku.14852~seQ.4
would it work then
sry if im too more troubble, im very thankfull for ur help... ur gonna be subscribed :)
