BTW, i dont agree with some people here. The RA3 is based on real science, most of wich date back from around 1900. For those who i don't agree with, RA3 is a what-would-happen-if-game in an alternate universe. Tesla, airships, mind control, cloak and other technologies exist, altough they aren't developed enough to acutally work today.

Take the airship. During WWII Americans and the Nazi's experimented with them to build aircraft carriers and citybombers.

Generals was very poorly designed. It used to really stress me out getting completely wiped out just because the enemy used a scud storm once and my whole base was gone. Feeble supply-collecting with weakling supply collectors, and vulnerable base construction (a freshly placed structure can be killed with one shot and all invested credits are lost????!!!! WTF!!) A real-life construction team/building site could survive longer than that even in extreme combat.

despite these, generals is still my favourite rts game. i got used to these facts and developed strategies to avoid them. altough i rarely play with real people, mostly against computer only. when we plaay on LAN we discuss that we dont use superweapons, or no rush at the beginning so we have a good time playing with it. and dont compare it to real life, there are too many stupid things in that game to compare them to real life.

Your talking about the scud bug? I thought the game was pretty good. Chinese nukes could wipe out a GLA base but it would be rebuilt using the tunnel network. The USA bases could take a scud storm, it would just need repairs.

I've played missions where entire bases had to be sold immediately upon a scud launch and subsequently rebuilt, because the repair cost for a direct scud attack far outweighed the sell/rebuild cost anyway, so it would be more economical. Not to mention the number of dozers and ground forces taken out is so high it is best to completely evacuate to a safe spot. It causes such a realignment that by the time I would have finished, the next scud launches. The only way is taking it out prematurely

Otherwise a single scud launch will cause your mission to sequentially spiral down into defeat. Usually there is a cash bug where the scud only launches when your credits get to a certain level. This offers the chance to build an air strike force and waste it over all the GLA air defences to destroy the scud storm launch position. This is the only way I completed the campaigns on medium difficulty. And I am fine with all the hardest strat or tac games you could name but Generals is just shite

Red Alert is not based on science. It is based on SCIENCE!

And, as everyone should be aware of, SCIENCE! is the 50's scifi version of science and is not bound by normal scientific laws or principles.

It is meant for one purpose: To be campy, badly acted and overall fun.

Serious is for the main C&C series, not Red Alert.
