  • You've got marvellous trains!

  • what scale is this? it looks like HO scale but im not sure.

  • Very nice video. Evidently 19 morons didn't think do, but they should be ignored.

  • I JUST FOUND THIS PLACE TO GET FREE XBOX LIVE CODES!

  • Is that Nick and Brian at 0:00? lol...

  • can't u buy this train set,and for how much.also why didn't it go faster.

  • Wow! Nice F40-PH Horn and bell! And also nice LAUPT Set too!

  • i love how the back bi-level is a cab car

  • track plan please!

  • well thats cool:)

  • 0:00 What is that?

  • This makes me miss my train set I used to have. My friend had a similar train and cars in the video. He built up the cars interior, put clear windows in and added interior lights. It was really cool to see. Good video and thanks for not running the cars too fast, this looks much more realistic.

  • SO AWESOME! I bought the same cabcar from Kato!

  • did yall know that a train cant move until each brake on each car is released?

  • hêhé_ì_sïgñèd_up_àt_fùll_tïlt_pökër

    _usìñg_rêfêrrál_códè:_YOU600_ãñd_gót_å_600_Ðòllar_bõnus

  • is this HO scale?

  • at 1:19 we pass the giant glue bottle factory ;)

  • I think that line is based off of the real line. correct me if I'm not mistaken.

  • gta san andreas

  • fajne ale i tak PKP żadzi!!! PKP do boju! PeeeeeKaaaaaaPeeeeeee żadzi !!

    [Ale urwał]

  • The La Mesa Model Railroad Club lets us put videos on youtube, why not this club? Great video.

  • good layout and yes Iheard on your video a kid getting told off, lol both my daughters are into rail-roads and they never touch layouts but enjoy the trains passing by. yep Im a single father who collects and runs Britsh Railways 00 gauge loco`c and all things railway.

  • I can never get my Metra cars to work in Push, only pull. They are all Walthers Cars, with a Kato Cab Car. But our clubs layout is modular based with less then ideal track work....so that may be part of it

  • @will107 Walthers cars have crappy diaphragms along with too close couplers. This leads to issues when trying to run an inbound train. The Kato Bievels would better solve your solution rather than trying to get the Walthers to work, I used to have a complete set of Amtrak bilevels from walthers and no matter how much Labelle 107 and coupler remounting and diaphragm removing I did Kato always worked 100 times better than Walthers.

Now I have walthers N scale it works great since switching from HO

  • @will107 : Hey Buddy, I have the same problem with mine, they lift off the rails at turnouts and generally make an operating session a waste of time. I feel your pain, I have no idea how to remedy this.

  • WoW! Amazing details on the SuperLiners...

  • That trackwork is really bad

  • Comment removed

  • What scale is this?

  • Well yes, that may be the case. But if the colors are going to work you will have to eliminate the sound and work on the seat. No shortcuts now! Better get started soon. Gook Luck!

  • Love the beacon on the cab car!

  • No offense but this is the problem with clubs you get these jerks in them if I were you I build my on layout he must be the club police he has no business telling you what you can and can't do he's a acting like it's his layout. This is why I will never join a club because of people like him I would like to know what came out of this situation and if he's still a member of your club good luck nice train consist Jeremy

  • slow slow slow!

  • I have been on that rout in real life!!!

  • MAN IL IKE YOUR LAYOUT AND TRAIN

  • nice

  • love this model train layout

  • Hey Grant, are these the regular $50 bi levels, or the fully lighted $70 bi levels?

    Alex

  • @trainmaster55 umm i believe they retail right now on Kato for $50

  • @ggspin12 Ok, well I was browsing around their online store and saw the "fully lighted version" for $70, I'm guessing that this means that the interior of the car would be lighted along with the outside.

  • lol did u see the huge elmer glue

  • what kind of stem engine was that at 3:26? its nice

  • very cool

  • greta vid, thks for sharing... is the cabcar motorized¡?

  • SWEET TRAIN SET. i have a lego one of my own but nothing this cool. that is somthing i have allways wanted to make but dont have the cash for. SWEET TRAIN SET

  • I've been looking high and low for a set like that. Trying to build a set up similar to the train I took back when I had my first train ride. Where do you get this?

  • The last cars seem to have a Milwaukee Road feel to them.

  • Is the last train car KATO ?

  • Yes it's a Kato.

  • awesome video

  • sweet I like the cab car!

  • what scale is that?

    is it a Lionel?

  • it is HO scale i have the same Amtrack

  • The only thing i dont like in model trains is that the engine is quite heavy and the coaches feel very lite.

I'm wondering if it's possible to make it realistic by weighting up the coaches...

lol i know it might sound stupid.

  • nice concept, but the reason their light, is so the engine can pull a lot of them easily :)

  • Cool Vid & Nice Train! I just got a Brass Amcal Train!

  • Gotta love Walt

  • At 1:15 the glue bottle is bigger than the train!! lol

  • This is oe o my favorite layouts

  • nice train but it goes slow

  • its ment to go slow to look real retard

  • Great diaprhagm work on the superliners.

  • I'm saving up for my own HO model railway. I should be able to start as soon as our basement is finished. One of the biggest things i want to do is have at least one replica of a long-distance amtrak train running superliners, like the Empire Builder or Cal. Zephyr. Veycool, very nice job ; )

  • The last 3 cars were not superliners, whatever they were....

  • Pullman-Standard Bilevel commuter coaches of 1950s design

  • I wish I had one of those...

  • a very good video

  • Great job in your smooth, and very realistic train handling like a prototype locomotive engineer!

  • Who says, "No we don't do that again, Oh I don't care how long ago we don't do it again, You u'stan'. You be baan from the Rayroad."?

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you for running your trains at a prototypical speed; I'm glad SOMEBODY realizes that trains don't go from zero to 80 in 1.2 seconds.

  • Though it'd be nice if it could.

  • ive seen that happen sooo many times with kids and models u do not even know, lol

  • @ggspin12 lol i am a kid but i always start from slow-slow/medium-medium-medium/fast speed

  • You have some nice models dude! Have you gotten anyhting new lately??

  • Is this HO? I have HO.

  • Is the cab car by kato? Is it the Kobo custom one with detailed and interior lighting?

  • grank do you have an layout

  • This is really cool, but why is there a full diner on a commuter train? Wouldn't a bi-level café car be more appropriate (and cheaper)?

  • oops.I mean your a nit picking GEEK not cnkillerclown. MY BAD

  • tell the asshole that was jumping on the little fella to stop being an ASSHOLE. when i was a kid we had a guy at a local club that did that to me and one of my friends. guess he didnt expect us to tell him to go %&#$ himself in front of everyone and you can also tell him to get better with his english it is a RAILROAD not a "RAI" ROAD. nuff said other than ya got a nice set-up..

  • nit + pic=GEEK!

  • yall are just a bunch of FOAMERS.. grow up..

  • How do the passengers get from the low level gallery type cars to the Superliner High Level doors??

  • im still working on pruchasing a step up car from intermountain

  • @utcada I'd presume that they'd be connected via a transition sleeper car, at least in real lie, where one end has passage support low level cars, one for high-lefel [superliner, surfliner, etc] passages.

  • so was that kid gettin yelled at cuz he put a video on youtube

  • HO Scale

  • yup

  • Who was that talking with Brian?

  • some person

  • That was Nick wasn't it?

  • no.

  • I've seen Kato's offerings in metra and C&NW. But not Amtrak. Nice layout btw. Is that a club layout or just a really sweet home layout?

  • to answer your questions, the bi-levels are kato, the cab car is also kato but i did the lighting, and that is the sant susana train club layout

  • And Especially that cab coach car, thats sweet.

  • see, now that makes feel even worse, cuz i'm from chicago. But now i GOTTA get me some of those Bi-level commuter cars in Amtrak paint. Who makes them? Mike.

  • sweet, i wasnt aware amtrak had ANY bi-level commuter cars in service anywhere......

  • yup they sure did and ran a few in sanfran and mostly in chicago

  • These are great!!

  • thanks

  • Nice!! So, where is the dino cam vid?

  • dino cam vid?

  • Wow what a dick to that kid in the background. He had no manners, but abnyway nice trains, layout, and video. My question is that how come there no problem with you putting a video on youtube?

  • idk, as long as it supports the club i really dont think anybody minds

  • So I guess that kid with the video of the club on youtube wasn't supporting the club?

  • ya, it was sending a bad message

  • XD yea loved that no offence

  • Around 2:30 What was that guy getting pissed about. Was it about the kid putting a video on Youtube. I hate the old guys that yell at the kids at clubs.

  • it was something different

  • what was it about?

  • oh nothing

  • hey grant now you can put that P40 of yours on there....and maybe if i ever get some Horizons i can Make a 799/798 with #47 and #505 (when i get 505 ahaha!)

  • i know, me too, (when i get 503 ahaha!)

  • hey nice cars is that G scale ???

  • no, it is HO scale

  • thanks

  • wow, those thumbtacks holding down the tracks at mission tower, thats clever, but why not just put in the nail spikes?

  • we do, the track design wasnt decided yet

  • ok, gots it. As I design my layout on paper, Im sure I will have areas once I get going on building i will second guess myself

  • ya it happens

  • Hey actually, I have this same sound decoder in a Walther's F40 of mine. I am almost done installing it, but there is a guy that put a video of his on here, and I think that horn is pretty close (or at least a little closer than the one that comes programmed). He even tells you what value for the CV that the horn is.

    It's titled:

Kato F40 with the new digitrax decoder.

  • thanks, ill take a look at that, ya those decoders are pretty popular

  • Yeah, I really like them actually. I've heard a lot of people saying that they don't sound very realistic, but I think they sound pretty darn good. Besides that they are easy to install and don't cost all that much.

  • SAME WITH ME! if the other ones were this easy and affordable i would have more of a selection, but ya i like them

  • Yeah. Hey, any luck with those CV's that the guy had in his video? Does that horn sound a little closer?

  • ya it does, i will have to try that out next time i go to the club (because i dont have a layout at home) THX, Grant

  • No problem buddy!

  • Thanks, and i am currently working on a P40DC with fading stripes to go on the point of my one day southwest chief(waiting for companys to release products) but anyway thanks again, Grant

  • Cool, can't wait to see it!

  • i know, once i get all of the equiptment, i am looking forward to it too!

  • I figured, pull the board out, clip the lights off and keep em for later, attach either a light only or just a regular DH123 to the power source, and add the lights to the light function wires (yellow and white)

  • thats kinda what i did, but i replaced the lights with grain o wheat and you forgot that you have to hook up the power wires (red&black)

  • Huh, from that I could probably figure that out w/o the 4 months :P

  • i takes a lot of work!

  • Say, how did you go about installing the decoder in that cabcar? I just recently got a Metra version and need to know how to install a decoder in it.

  • it was very complicated, it took me 4 months to get it right, i replaced the white bulbs with grain-o-wheat bulbs, and the red ones with some kind of red bulb that could handle 14v w/o a resistor. then from my knowledge i installed the decoder.

  • How do you get the two trains to go in opposite directions on the same track?

  • DCC, its great

  • That sound decoder that Kato includes inside the locomotive sounds so unrealistic. If you install the Loksound ESU sound decoder in there, it would sound like the real thing with the K5LA.

  • yea i know, but i didnt have the time to.

  • What kind of trains are these? MTH HO walthers, marklin?

  • HO scale, the f40ph is Kato, The superliners are walthers and the bi-levels are kato. (the cab car was custom done by me)

  • Nice vid! I live near the Surfline and love going through LAUPT. Only gripe is you've mixed Superliners with the doors at the double-decker level and bi-levels with the doors and the low level to match standard cars. All in all, great vid!

  • i know, waiting for the transition from intermountian

  • Nice Decoder! Especially the sound affects!

  • thanks, its digitrax

  • How big is your entire setup? Where is it located?

  • Santa Susana, California and its pretty big

  • In a house? Mansion? LOl. How many rooms, square feet? Feet of track? Etc?

  • its in a historic depot, half is the museum and the other half is the layout. i will have to look up the detailed specs for you.

  • One thing I wishis if the Amtrak trains with sound decoders had the doppler effect

  • yea that would be awesome!

  • if broadway ltd came out with an amtrak it have doppler but i dont think they would come out with it

  • yea probably not

  • that whistling you hear in the background when you get to Salinas is me. ATSF 3751. And, Grant does have a point, and I find it very refreshing to hear my comments and business on line, much less being commented on in a video. And, had Grant told me he was going to push, i would've gone long before he recorded, only whistling because I was pissed that he wouldn't leave.

  • Mission tower was more like Burbank Junction tower, considering it was closer to Taylor's west end than LAUPT.

  • what was the brand of the locomotive, sound decoder, and superliners.

  • The f40ph=Kato

    decoder=Digitrax

    superliners=walthers

  • ok thanks

  • Instead of Digitrax decoders 4 Amtrak, I reccomend Soundtraxx and Phoenix Sound, and LokSound/ESU, as they sound more prototypical than this. LokSound's K5 rendition sounds especially close to the F40PH.

  • yea, but they're harder to install, considering they arent made for that specific locomotive, unlike digitrax

  • God, Walt, talking to me about what I did 7months ago...

  • oh, in the background?
