I've been banking for years with them..... we kinda know their routine. I deposited "CASH," went to the store and was charged service fee for insufficent funds. We were told it wasn't through because of "cut off time" (after 3pm). I guess bank of american is trying to get money off people with service charges WITHOUT notices.
This program was marketed to existing hispanic customers with established deposit account historys who had previously been unable to get credit. By allowing them to use their existing ITIN, they were making it easier for the people who were already established as legal TAX-PAYING permanent immigrants to get ahead. Bank of America merely marketed this product towards hispanics, which attracted this attention. These credit cards are SECURED CREDIT CARDS! They have to deposit a minimum of 300 dollars! Your deposit is your credit limit. If you don't pay it off GUESS WHAT! You made a deposit and it covers it! They're right, they do get a FORM of credit, but no official credit is given without socials. I've been banking for years with them..... we kinda know their routine. I deposited "CASH," went to the store and was charged service fee for insufficent funds. We were told it wasn't through because of "cut off time" (after 3pm). I guess bank of american is trying to get money off people with service charges WITHOUT notices.

This program was marketed to existing hispanic customers with established deposit account historys who had previously been unable to get credit. By allowing them to use their existing ITIN, they were making it easier for the people who were already established as legal TAX-PAYING permanent immigrants to get ahead. While I personally hate the bank, THIS was a case of the media being irresponsible with the tiny bit of information they did have, and presuming the rest.

Bank of America isn't the only company providing credit cards to people with illegal aliens. Any body with an ITIN can go into most banks and obtain a secure credit card. Bank of America merely marketed this product towards hispanics, which attracted this attention. People with poor credit or no credit, even born here can get the same card, or any body from anywhere, as long as they have the ITIN.

These credit cards are SECURED CREDIT CARDS! They have to deposit a minimum of 300 dollars! Your deposit is your credit limit. If you don't pay it off GUESS WHAT! You made a deposit and it covers it! They're right, they do get a FORM of credit, but no official credit is given without socials. They get a history showing their financially responsible, that's how they earn credit in some degree, quit bitching about people who PAY their taxes to this country, since they have a tax id number.

If you don't pay off your creditcards by way of either a charge off or a bankruptcy, the company writes it off as a bad debt, and it sticks to your credit record. I used to work for a credit card industry. Plus, it is a SECURED credit card, so that means you have to put a few hundred dollars and use the money you paid as the credit limit. If you don't pay, then the company keeps your deposit.

Illegals don't pay taxes, idiot! If you have a TIN, that means you have some form of identification stating you are allowed to be in the U.S. You don't have to be Mexican to have a TIN. I've known kids in college from other countries come over here with work/student visas. With their visas, they are allowed to work in the U.S. and open up accts.
