Never before has one man - i.e. Ernesto Bertarelli (Ernie the spoilt child with daddy's money) single-handedly done so much damage to a established sporting event.
However, despite what the media says, this is quite in keeping with the man's nature. Even with the business that was built up by his own father, and that he inherited, had to be sold off at a massive discount to what it was worth a year earlier, simply because it was beyond his capability to run. A classic case of spoilt rich kid!
PLEASE don't tell me they put an internal combustion engine on the boat!!!
What a horrible precedent the Swiss have created if this is the case. Truly disappointing. Why not push the envelope on something else? Like solar cells on the foils that power electric motors and those can move the water ballast and winches.... no internal combustion engines should be allowed to do anything on these boats.
Light air venue...... riveting... I say make them do the race on the extreme 40 in close!!
