I remember Solid Goid as a kid. Fantastic show which I looked forward to every week. Compare this to today's crap like American Idol - there is no comparison at all!! Its pathetic how music has sunk so low!!!
I LOVE the 80's. I was a kid and teenager in the 80's! As for the show.....watched it every week. I grew up watching Solid Gold, Hee Haw, and the Lawrence Welk Show.
Rex does an interesting take on "Eye of the Tiger" here. I will never be able to hear that song without thinking of Jensen Ackles from Supernatural ever again though!
Ah, let us suffer the youngsters who weren't there and cannot appreciate what came before. :) I look back on this time with great fondness, and reverence.
you people are a bunch of idiots. obviously you were not around in 1982 or too young to know it was a great year, much better than the crap today that they call music. and rex smith has a excellent singing voice, very talented man, very unique voice and very strong voice. obviously no one on these comments knows talent.
i was born in 85, but im with u, wish i could be my age now in the 80s, thats my fave music, and rex smith is still a cool dude haha (everlasting love, best version ever)

I miss Marilyn. She was the best host for Solid Gold. She made the show classy even when the dancers looked like tramps.

No kidding. They should have dumped pretty boy and instead had Marilyn's husband Billy Davis co-host with her.
