@jedimasterpickle3 each level has a certain # of rings in it and a total Number; however by getting rings from going through the checkpoints you can actually collect more than the level total and that will permanently change the number of rings that are supposed to be collectable. between 300 and 400 rings are common but if you go ring searching you can really pull off a high number. as for lives I've had 99 for so long I never have to collect them, lolz

@UltimateJman64 If I do a casual playthrough of the game, I stop by City Escape to get my lives back up. Currently, I'm dying and restarting a lot in an attempt to complete the rest of the missions, so I have around 80. I also lost a couple of lives fighting the Biolizard. I also restart in Pumpkin Hill often to keep collecting Skeleton Dogs for my Shadow Chao. Every time I play the game, I start with getting lives from City Escape. I have so many for a reason. They're meant to be used

@jedimasterpickle3 Thats a good call, I beat the game, but I do not have all A's :o I should finish that... as for the lives, I love raising the Chao's so I've played a lot of Sonic / Shadow levels to do "Chao Drive Run's." because of all the rings I've collected and the # of plays I've finished, I no longer die in Sonic / Shadow levels and maintain 99 lives. pretty nerdy i guess, but I could never have real pets so raising the Chao's was an awesome thing for me, and in fact, still is great.

@UltimateJman64 For a Chao Drive run, I just play a Walker stage until I have all the color that I want, then quit. I usually do either Iron Gate or Eternal Engine. I usually don't die when doing normal playthroughs. And I do have a real pet, but the Chao are just so addicting. And I will go for all A ranks as soon as I can actually beat all the missions....

If you order the GC controller and Memory Card from amazon.com and SA2B from gamestop, it totals to about $40. The reason I said Gamestop for the game itself is because amazon was charging over $100 for it.

i remember wen i first got this game. i only got thru half of it and then i let meh friend borrow it with meh memory card to see if he could beat it. and about a week later he got to this part. it felt so EPIC i wuz like "oh god this is the final showdown"! and meh friend and i thought it wuz a race so i wasted like 10 minutes trying to run faster then shadow ten i realized it wuz a fight jeje so that wuz an epic fail but either way this is one of the most epic sonic fights in the series :)

Sonic sounding evil when you play as Shadow was somewhat explained through an SA1 handbook from Japan: What you see in each storyline is actually just how the player character at the time remembers it. Shadow remembers Sonic being against him, so to subconsciously justify it, he unintentionally makes Sonic sound evil in his memories.

Well, the explanation was in an SA1 handbook, but SA2 also has multiple storylines, with contradicting boss battles just like in SA1. Given that Sonic Heroes, which was chronologically after SA2, also showed evidence of the "multiple-perspectives" deal, and SA2's storyline was different depending on whether you played Hero or Dark, I figured the differing-memories view applies here as well.

Quite. Here, it's very important for one hedgehog to trump the other for the fate of this and that. In Generations, it's all an act, a game 'cause for the most part Shadow knows he'll get trumped again via the "bigger you are, harder you fall" thing when pitted against Sonic's speed. Freeze time all you want, the fastest thing possible will find a gap to escape a counter.

Sonic runs, Shadow skates.
