Try the whole album "Dare". Such as "Seconds" [a song by The Human League about when they shot Kennedy]. I still cry when I hear it. I peel and chop onions at the same time I hear it so they don't think I'm some wimpy male.
@lanceparker12 Well, good for you. Seek out great music in whatever era you may find it. Just because you're 21 doesn't mean you are condemned to listen to The Man's crappy overhyped latest nonsense, like that "Umberella ella ella" song omigod it drives me up the WALL!
Ya know it's funny, I was 13 when I heard this for the first time back in '83, so it's AWESOME that ppl turning 13 yrs old NOW actually like the same music I did almost 20 yrs ago... The kidz have awsome taste now a days... :)
@Duranie747 And you notice the music nowadays, they put a deep bass guitar drone on it to keep the youth hypnotized? System of a Nickel Creed and all that crap? Our music had loud and soft sounds, textured synths, not this da dunn da dunn da dunn all the time.
amazing sound...love the arrangements and how the track finishes...it sounds dif from 'Dare' version...punchier with more attitude...is The Human League 'Red' a 12inch single?
Probably the perfect example of post modern pop music back in the days when most people couldn't handle "electronic" sounds and were still listening to Billy Joel and The Sweet.
@abagail4me Amen to that! Middle of the Road is sucky. I know as a teen I was fed up with 1970's longhairs and their guitars, I wanted something DIFFERENT, something that appealed to what I had no name for, but which I now recognize is my cold, cold silicon heart. Thank you, Human League and others...
class, been dancing round the bedroom, aaah the heady days of the late 70's and early 80's.......will it ever be matched in the future....I doubt it !!
too right i was a teenager during the 80s gotta say wihtout a doubt best period of my life music life opportunities hopes england were all better then than they are now i am soooo nostalgic for this period of my life
Ahh too many great memories to this whole album ,fantastic to hear this track again. Makes me feel 18 again.

this version seems a bit more toppier and more compressed than the album version...the 12" mix of this was great!

The sound of the crowd is the best at The PANTHERS Lair , The Human League are from the quiet side ...

You have just summed up my music taste in a nutshell :)
I love 80s music. The Human League, Duran Duran etc...
I don't even like half the pop nowadays.
No wonder they think I'm a crazy 13-yr-old with a messed up music palate XD

Cool song sounds so amazing and fresh all these years later.

this version sounds harder to my ears than the version on dare. The drums have been remixed to be punchier..more compression maybe
armalyte 1 year ago
@armalyte hmmm...it does sound different in a better kind of way...harder with more attitude.

Human League Red.
They were so cool at this point, after the split and before Dare was released.

I like the single version better than the LP version. Single version is rare these days, even on CD.
