ofcourse acoustic wins, because the electronic is just trying to copy the acoustic ones... however, roland is verry expensive for someone who don't have that much money, or he have to save up some for a while... electronic are not that loud, because you're able to use a headset. and in my opinion I wouldn't buy a roland td9 or lower, I like the td12 kit alot more!
Your acoustic drums sound like dtxplorer when it is ran through Superior Drummer. I admit the dtxplorer module sounds like crap. Who cares. The drums are worth twice their price when ran through pc software. A steal of a deal. Who needs acoustic???
i'm working in the biggest music shop in switzerland ;) it calls musik produktiv.. when you'd like a yamaha e-drum, NEVER dtxplorer! this holy crap is too expensive.. maybe DTXpress IV special set, or more expensive but much better, DTX900K
or cheaper than the dtx900k, roland TD-9 or TD-12.. roland e-drum are 1000ways better then yamaha!! when you would like links pls write to me ;) i share you some links
hey, good question ;) this video is very old, and normaly it's very stupid to test an beginner-e-drum with a standart acoustic drumset with normal mic-equipment
we (i work in a music store (Musik Produktiv)) got once time a 2box.. in this time the pearl ePro was coming up too. Tested both.. 2box.. hmm ok, it got a good modul, because you can put it some sounds via computer. BUT, the manufacturing/workmanship is VERY bad! :( Pearl ePro is much better handled
i think it depends on the test that electro set is decent but the acoustic in my opinion sounds better. but in terms of recording electro plus good drum sample package sounds better than shitastic mics. lucky for him he has a wicket mic setup :) good playing
This is one of those debates where there's no clear winner. In this example, the acoustic sounds much better..but if used against a Roland TD-9 or above, I would go with the Roland.
Keep in mind, I say this as a personal preference..I get a great sound out of my electronic kit, and pc recording is what I do most. So, in this instance, it works better for me..oh, and the neighbors..lol
I agree with you if compared to to yamaha ekits, but Roland V Drums TD-9 or Td-20 with expansion card would be a tough one to beat. Dont get me wrong i love acoustics and i would play them if my circumstances where different.
Yeah, you're TD-20 sounds great, and would blow this acoustic away. Sorry, Stef. :)
I think the main reason traditionalists don't like electronic drums, is because they are so much smaller..and doesn't look as impressive as a nice acoustic kit on stage. But, in sound and ease of use, versatility, etc., the e-kit (especially the Roland series), blows most acoustic kits of the map.
Wish i had the TD-20. I have the TD-9 like you. Most drummers dont like ekits because of the way they look and feel. I use Roland v drums because i think there technolgy is second to none in the world of ekits. What kit # is your favorite? I like # 1 V Tour Studio with snare at 059 custom SR and some ambience tweaks. Im always tryiny to improve my drum sound.
For some reason I was thinking that you had the 20. It looks like a TD-20 with all of the mesh drumheads. Very nice!
I've tweaked all of my kits from the original settings (kind of wish I hadn't), but my fave kit is made up of the heavy snare #92, and the Custom K kick drum #02. Like you, I'm always wanting to make the great sound of Roland drums sound even better. We are lucky. :)
hehe yes the TD-20 and 9 are awesome ;) you know.. i work in a high school as music teacher, i'd buy the td-9.. but the director has say, this is to expensive.. i must take the poorest -.-.. and this is the DTXplorer.. ..hmm shit happens hahaha xD
recording wise, if well mixed an acoustic sounds better, but for demo recordings and stuff, the electric sounds better. Over all, though, definately the acoustic.
Acoustic of course sounds a lot more dynamic, where as an e-kit has to work with the limited samples it has and some modulators on those. If you're aiming for an extremely tight drum sound an e-kit could work better. Also they are cheaper and more versatile, and easier to record. I prefer acoustic kits for the feel and sound, but can really understand why one would pick an e-kit

take a cheap acoustic kit and convert it with Alesis Trigger i/o for a quarter the cost.
d3tach3d 1 year ago 2
@d3tach3d
alesis triggers? sorry, for this quality i can still use this crap e-drum xD
roland triggers are much better, or you use the e-drum with the computer per MIDI/USB
SwissMusikHero 5 months ago
@SwissMusikHero not "triggers" but a Trigger input/output box/brain. I'd make my own triggers using Piezos.

and today you can easily use every e-drum with the computer and a plug-in (addictive drums, superior drum.....)
but the best dynamic, the best sounds, the best modul has got the Roland TD-20KX! :D

well when it comes to sounds e drums are best make sure its roland heheh....good for practice, recording but in live band acoustic is best....

Acoustic. No matter what you do, the DTXplorer will ALWAYS sound way too digital.

i used to have that electric kit... hated it... just couldnt stand the sounds.. your acoustic kit is a lot nicer.
all the snare sounds on the e-drum kit are just aweful

Bei dem E-Drum hört man fast die Bassdrum nicht.

I'll take the acoustic please.
It sounds bigger, warmer, punchier.
Which is not to say the electric sounded bad.
I just think the acoustic sounded better.

acustic drum set is better then an electric drum set, because the sound's better...
dav666dav666 2 years ago
Real drum set... By far the better sound to me. THe e-drum does not have the same "depth" that the real set has.
