  • Thank you so much for posting this video. <3 I sobbed when I watched this.

  • Its also important we remember that people like that person are people purely messed up in the head and defy the concept of natural law. God made them a male, they have no right to try to alter that determination. They are beyond the case of help

  • @MrEnlighteneddespot For someone with enlightened in their name you sure are misinformed. You say god doesn't make mistakes, then please explain to me the incredible variety of chromosomal and biological disorders that exist in this world. I have a good friend who is XXY and another who was born with both a penis and ovaries. The fact of the matter is that biology and genetics are more complicated than your simple black and white explanation of only male and female.

  • STOP THE VIOLENCE

    AGAINST ALL WOMEN;

    AND AGAINST ALL

    TRANSGENDERED

    AS WELL.

    DO A WEB SEARCH ON:

    charles h. miranda OR:

    charlesthepoet2003

    THANKS.

  • all the unknown people... and people who were known.... the fact that they were killed for such a trivial reason as the fact that they were transgender.... these people had family... this makes me sad. People need to be more accepting of others.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with the world. You're absolutely amazing and courageous!

  • Maybe they shouldn't have been killed.. locked the fuck up in a mental ward, but not killed.

  • This is shocking, but not surprising. Murderers suck. I hope this isn't considered a rude comment, but I wonder if the murderers felt deceived by a transsexual who was discovered or told at some point later in a friendship or relationship to be transsexual. Some people snap and result to heinous acts of violence when they feel scammed. There is still no excuse for murder.

  • There was a beautiful ceremony and vigil at the Center in nyc with some wonderful speakers. it's so awful and sad that things like this happen in our world, but like you said, it takes so much courage to be who you are, which is why it is important to remember and to celebrate all of those who were true to themselves and paid the ultimate price for it. we remember them and celebrate the beauty of their lives and they will never be forgotten.

keep fighting. we're here with you.

    <3

  • very sad that people would kill somebody just because of what they are...the violence must end

  • So many people I love are TS, and this just scares the shit out of me. I am literally sitting at my computer crying... Nobody should suffer because of who they are. I am so lucky that I was fortunate enough to be born into my body - one that is me, one that I accept and identify with.

  • thanks

  • i love you so much because you are you thank you.

  • Thank you for posting this. This moved me to tears. You are truly a beautiful and insightful person, inside and out.

I know TGs sometimes--justifiably--get angry with the gay community for leaving them behind in order to secure more rights for themselves, but this is one gay man who thinks that TGs are some of the most amazing people on earth and we're blessed to have them here among us! I'm in awe of your courage and honesty!! Thank you for speaking up!!!

  • =) that's very sweet. thank you!

  • @filmstocker thank you.

  • its a big world... 101 is not that huge of a number... how many plain gays were killed couple thousand i imagine...

  • I'm not entirely sure what the point of your comment is besides to try and devalue these deaths.

The fact is that 1 murder for this reason is too many. Sure, there are a lot of other things that are bad out there, but this was our day to remember OUR dead.

  • ok have YOUR day -.^

  • @matoxewu That's such an unfair statement.

  • @matoxewu That's such an unfair statement, not to mention silly. "101 is not that huge..." how short-sighted and insensitive. ONE is a huge number if it's you that's been murdered. Or your Mom.

  • november 20th is my birthday....... why couldnt it have been another day?!!?!?

  • amazing vid,

humans need to start acting like we are all humans

life is so beautiful, no one should ever be killed or kill, and we act like that a crazy idea,

    stop killing, start progressing

  • trannies are frauds!

Be upfront with your gender of birth to people that you meet, or face the consequences

  • My condolences, grishno.

Here's to hoping that there will come a time when there will be no need to observe this day.

  • Did you know from mid 2008 to mid 2009 176,000 Christians were killed because they would not deny Christ?

That is 482 per day world wide.

And you are worried about 1 killed world wide every 3 days...

    Just something to think about.

  • being killed for a belief can only happen if one is inquired of ones belief... but being killed for just 'being'... and never to be inquired... to be struck down in one's place as one stands as 'being' transgendered/transsexual is all the more barbaric... and to ignore those deaths although seemingly fewer in number is horrifying even if ONE were to suffer such a fate...

  • Besides that, he doesn't even offer any proof to back up his claims, we don't even know if the number of christians supposedly killed is accurate, or if they were actually killed for being christian.

  • @johnandraquell..I am worried about all the killing being done. All personal freedom being taken away, all humane behavior going down the tubes..and as a Christian I assume you would also be worried for ALL man and woman kind being subjected to horrific violence.

  • Erin you really touch souls across the world, it's amazing just like a mix of words, sounds and images coulds touch your soul, maybe it's cause you really put the yours en everything.

The fear is something that in South America is really tangible in so many ways, but sometimes I think that is just not a thing of simply intolerance of this predators is a thing of their own fear to themselves and who is different.

Thanks 4 be a voice full of light to every person that doesn't fit the norm

  • Thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • I could not have said it better.

  • latin america your breaking my heart

  • I seriously have no idea why there are so many deaths in S. America. Brazil especially.

  • the trans culture down there is different than in the states and elswjere.

what bugs me is i went to school with Hunt and knew Taysia from broadripple.

I also had the unfortunate experience of being in jail with the closet case that killed Taysia. I wonder about all the ones who have slipped through our notice to die unremembered in anonymity

  • I've heard that places like Mexico, South America are very intolerant, and in Europe I've heard Spain and Italy are intolerant, where as England, France and Germany are more open.

Why is it always the SOUTHERN countries that are so backward?

  • Look at which countries you've listed. Mexico, Italy, Spain, and South America are all very religious, primarily Catholic. England, France, and Germany, by comparison, are much less religious.

  • It just seems like it's always the SOuth, like in the US it's usually always the Southern states.

  • You mean the area known as "The Bible Belt?"

  • it's "you're," but what's ironic is that all the tranny porn that's on the web stars Brazilians, among other south American nationalities, and most are filmed in Brazil, as I see it. HBO even did a documentary on transgendereds in Rio, so obviously there is a sizable population.. breaks the heart.

  • any1 else notice that most of the murders occurred in hispanic countries?

  • thank you Erin for the important message. i think youre great!

  • Hi Erin,

I would like to rate this video yet to rate it would be to cheapen its message. Your words and the names the have scrolled on the screen say it all. As Lincoln said in his address:

It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.

  • The thing we have to remember is that 100 yrs ago, a black person couldn't even talk to a white, unless to serve. A black boy was killed for whistling in the presence of a white woman, because he stuttered & that's how he remedied it.

50 yrs ago a mixed couple couldn't marry & gays were jailed. Justice, peace, redemption, love, all come with time & the hatemongers will be made cheap, when all mourn those fallen.

  • karlhl i understand what you are going for here. but all hate crimes are worth remembering. humanity can be cruel and if your going to mention the african americans killed then lets also remember those people wiped out by the inquisition simply cause the church hated non christians. or how bout the american indians who suffered as much as the black slaves in the 1800s. or how bout the multitudes of peoples killed throughout history cause they were diffrent or in the wrong place.

  • my point is all of these things have been cause for rememberance and still in some places these hate crimes do still go on. i know we are no diffrent than any of these peoples suffering the same fate they did and do suffer. but the thing that i feel is what everyone should remember is each of these instancs caused changes to be made and so it will be with our group if we fight for it like they did. but it is a long hard road we face just like they did for our right to be who we are.

  • I was trying to stay within the past 100 years, and within American society. I think you missed the point, and then reiterated it.

  • I Wondering theat no German is on this List! yo makes Public in you Video. Here an Germany it is Heavy Enough to became making an Psycho Therapy. My First Psycho Therapy Place i Will have on the 21 November 2010. It is an Hard way to go to became this what you want to be. And it Hurts Very much if you found out theat you are Born in the Wrong Boddy! And its Harder to Hear theat Still People will Killed by People they Hold it for an Illness. Its F..king A..holes RIP Guys I feel with you!

  • @tranny1985ger I think I understand the thrust of what you're saying. It's unique, in my estimate, to see a people like the Germans, who went from being a very intolerant society, to being very tolerant, all in the modern/postmodern age. Viel Gluck.

  • My heart aches as well! The hatred, the violence. It does feel hopeless, but it's not. There is so much being done, so many positive changes.

But, still... the murders occur. :-(

  • @tgvoice Matthew 5:6

  • never give up never surrender. there is a line from a movie i like to remember during times like this. We will not go quietly into that long dark night, we will not go down without a fight, we will stand and fight for our very existance. its a personal twist on a line from independance day that i felt fit this view. I will live my life as i see fit on my terms and i will remember those who have fallen for this very same reason. NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER!!! one day we shall be free to be us.

  • @silverblade2006 Monty Python's the Life of Brian

You have to decide things for yourselves! Don't let anybody tell you what to do! You're all individuals!

Yes, we are all individuals!.. (I'm not!)

  • Erin, you're the best! You are a true trailblazer and thanks for all you do for the TG/TS community.

  • Moving video Erin, my heart goes out to all my sisters and brothers who continue living how they wish, and those who have passed on so tragically.

  • We shall never forget those who died for being themselves.

    All love from me Jasmine

  • The amount of hate for many things blows my mind. Pointless and tragic really sums it up. ♥

  • It´s COLOMBIA not COLUMBIA Anyway that was sad. :( This proves trans people have more "balls" than any of these cowards.

  • Thanks for the correction... I was sure that I'd mess up somewhere in there... there were a lot of names to write.

  • which part? the 101? or the transgender?

  • congraulations Erin iam really proud of you! you are a winner !

    Ashleigh

  • People die horrific deaths, and you want to have a little laugh to 'forget the hurt inide'? I'm not sure who you are but do you think the family members of these victims would agree? Do you think they want to hear a good joke too? Please go and rediscover your sense of humanity. People are dying. Until people STOP LAUGHING and accept us as people, society will continue to spill our blood.

  • snakeoilsam1: sure it's good to laugh; but why the f*uck would making fun of people be of any use? and why the distasteful"blonde" joke comment on such a video as this?

  • This joke was about as funny as arriving at an airport to discover all your bags have been lost.

  • I though I'd made it clear that this wasn't the forum for this... pushing the limits doesn't get you anywhere and it doesn't make you friends. Blocked.

  • THANK YOU.

  • A beautiful testimony to our strength and our resilience..... and a touching tribute to those that have lost there lives. Every year I remember - and I am so glad you have given that remembrance form and voice. Much love to you and to Morgan, my dearest friends - be safe and strong.

  • In tears how can ppl be so mean . Lighting a candel for my brothers and sisters.

  • Its very sad. So many lifes, so many people..Cant imagine what it must be like to be transgender in a country like Brazil..

However I hope this wont stop people from coming out and speak, thats the only way to stop the ignorance and the killing.

  • Powerful video....a peaceful Transgender Day of Rememberence to you, & all transgender individuals.

    Best wishes...Jon.

  • We will all stay strong, the LGBTQP community and supporters, and maybe one day, we will not have to live in fear.

Congratulations on being so far out of the closet and on being such a wonderful person.

  • Thank you sister.

  • Beautiful video.

  • A transwoman (Brenda) has been killed today in Italy.

This murder is an attempt to hide other crimes, Brenda probably knew something about a political/criminal scandal. A left-wing politician, Marrazzo, was filmed by corrupt policemen with a trans prostitute, they robbed him and tried to sell a video of him to newspapers owned by right-wing politician Berlusconi.

Some of the policemen's actions seem to indicate that they were acting under the orders of someone, possibly Berlusconi himself.

  • My dear sister, how you are so right. My heart goes out to those who have lost a loved one just for being themselves. I myself took a big risk in doing what I'm doing. I may have lost a great deal but gained more than I could ever have hoped for. To think that someone would take a life just because they didn't agree with it leaves me truly a loss for words but one.........why?

  • I have been getting increasingly emotional as we built towards today. I can't stop crying but I will hold my head high. That's all we can do.

  • hi it lora i am doing a campaign at college and i was woundering if i could have permision to use your video to raise awarness about this subject if yes e mail me please thank you xx

  • Sure. Feel free to use this video.

  • Thank you.

  • very nice video, very compassionate.

the numbers are shocking, It's hard to believe, makes me sad that this could happen to me just for being me.

  • This hits extremely close to home for me. I, myself, was assaulted 2 months ago. I'm still recovering from 2 broken ribs, but I realize it could have been much worse. At least I am still here, many others were not so lucky. All I can do is hope that there is an afterlife and that they are now transcendent, free from the violence of this world. I cry for them and say good-bye. I smile for them and think maybe they will be reincarnated in the correct gender next time. Never lose hope.

  • This is the why that thousand subscribe to GRISHNO . The honesty and compassion that you show. You are some thing special ERIN. Keep it up girl!!!

  • I saw a few names from my home state. My hope is that someday there are no victims and maybe one day there won't be a need for a day of remembrance. It sounds idealistic but it's something to strive for.

  • Very nice video.. one of yours best ... well done..

  • I am gonna light candles tonight in my bedroom with nice and quiet music on... It's very important for us to remember all (ts) people which are not alive ... very important and also very sad day for me as for pre-op (ts) girl.

  • One day I hope we never have to remember recent human beings on this day.

One day in the year which I hope is soon we will only remember those victims of the past.

    One day....

  • You are truly an inspiration to me. You speak with such conviction and humility and I want to thank you for all that you have done and are doing to educate yourself, us, and others.

You know, if it wasn't for you, and your videos, and other youtube videos of posters like you, I'd never have had the courage to come out.

    Thank you, for being you.

  • I think that you are so pretty. I don't know why anyone would want to kill someone simply for being who they are. Killing little kittens now that I can understand, but killing someone for just being a woman I don't get it. Maybe they are trying to kill something that they themself feel inside.

  • What on earth do you mean you understand killing little kittens?! Are you being sarcastic?

  • I can get behind a dead kitten joke every now and again, but this really isn't the forum for that.

  • I honestly didn't realize you were joking. The thing is that my sister actually met a guy once who had skinned a cat alive. I tend to take sick and twisted things people say seriously.

  • @SnakeOilSam1, wow somebody needs to shut you up. Erin is Talking about something that is very serious and needs to be told and you come off with dead kitten jokes? Somebody needs to put you someplace so you can learn some discretion, have some respect.

  • I see more and more people out as trans. Violence cannot stop everyone who wants to live freely. I may never live in a world where these crimes don't happen, but I believe we are progressing toward a more compassionate world, in many areas. Love conquers hate.

  • that sounds like a low number, normally statical numbers are just the numbers that were reported. Its also sad to think about those who committed suicide for being really confused.

  • It's actually over double the reported number for 2008... but I think that has to do with better tracking as apposed to more violence. Though there are many countries like china, iran, iraq, burma, etc that don't have any reported deaths of transfolk.. which I find hard to believe.

  • Hi Erin,Thank you for your transgender people in memory of those who have died, a life is a life what ever you are and no one has the right to take a life its all so very sad R.I.P ALL THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN 2009,WE MUST REMEMBER THIS DAY TAMSIN

  • Rest in peace to those who have been taken so violently from us :(

  • "justified fear and anxiety among transgender people."

don't think that's the point. it's just a special day. have you lost a close friend? On july 5th every year i look at the stars and just think about him, I don't use this as an excuse to act foolishly, but I'm obviously not happy.

he wasn't trans, but just trying to explain the feeling. often this day is for a mom or dad or sister who has lost a daughter/son. It's not just for trans-people. it's a day to not view their child as a freak.

  • I can't really think of anything adequate to say here.

RIP all those people, you will not be forgotten.

  • One every three days that we know of. I doubt this includes all the suicides.

  • It does not include all of the suicides, nor does it include all of the unreported murders. Notice on that list that there were none reported from countries like China, Burma, Iran, etc... let alone any murders where it was miss reported as "just a guy" victim instead of a trans woman. I don't think we'll ever know exact numbers, but they're definitely up there.

  • It would be interesting to know how many transgender people there are in the world to get a better feel for the risk of being killed. If theres like 500 000, the risk is still relatively small. Some of the victims also have a high risk lifestyle living as prostitutes etc.

My feelings about this day are mixed. I think theres a danger that it can cause more than justified fear and anxiety among transgender people.

  • On Lynn Conway's site you can find a prevalence report.

  • great video, it really makes me stop and think, but we can't deny who we are

  • I went to the transgender club tonight and we had a minute silence to those who were killed through being trans or those who fall in love with transpeople, some read out poems and we watched tribute videos regarding those who lost their lives

  • Wow! That's powerful. You do so much for our community.

  • if you take into account underreporting there are probably a lot more of these.

  • Thank You for making me want to fight not only for my rights to be a gay man a gay dad but to understand when fighting for my rights I am also fighting for those that are different then myself. We are one big family and when we stand together we make those that would hurt us that much weaker. My heart goes out to all those transgendered people who lost their lifes in 2009. Thank you for not being scared to be your self....

  • Remember darling., transgender did not own the corner on fighting for what they need. I commend trans, don't get me wrong, BUT...

Afrcan Americans went through so much

First and foremost ABUSED CHILDREN that have died.

    Interracial Marriages

    Interracial Children

    Gay Mirrages.

We as a society are slow thinkers, and hate change and are scared of different but we're getting there. your proof..

We won't forget all the people that have died for their truth....

    Much Love

  • transgender people don't own it, you're right. but nobody else owns the "corner on fighting for what they need" either. Every fight for freedom (not just legal, I mean de facto) is just as important as any other. People have been fighting for their freedom since the beginning of history, and will continue to do so. Though the trans movement may be just a drop in the bucket, without it the bucket wouldn't fill up completely.

  • powerful video and great video
