Although you give some good points there is a complexity of addiction with regard to the "drunk" person that you miss. I do not believe that he "chose" to be an addict. Drug addiction is complex and it has its footing in society and social settings and lack of options and sometimes genetic components. Some drug treatments do give the patient small amounts of a drug because if not it would cause the patient pain or death to quit abruptly. If I see drunk "detox" I wld giv alcohl out of mercy.

Though I am on a pulblic computer and can not re watch what I said to have more clarification... it was probably due to my difference in belief about reincarnation and the purging of karma that led me to say what I did.
I agree any break of such a strong karma needs a process, can not be immediate... but I would still say I choose to put myself in the position to activate addict tendency
The strong negative karmas that stemmed from my family and social position gave me quite a challenge in my teenage years.
My disruption of what was the family/social designed path for me has re-created the structure of the DNA.
This is how we advance human society. By uplifting ourselves out of these restraints and sharing the methods of how we can actively evolve ourselves. Purging karma would be equal to purging both genetic and social components. curing addiction became a specilty
yes it's basic but to some people it is not. So we must respect the different positions that people are living in. Everybody needs to start their spiritual path somewhere... and the act of giving and having tolerance is the first thing one should learn after opening their root chakra to make sure that all the energy the circulate in their body is pure... maybe you see this channel with some higher level practices and messages...
