Just an honest mistake. Anyone who's ever attempted to call a no-ball while watching closely to adjudicate on lbws etc will know it's not as easy as it looks. You see it out of the corner of your eye. If you want to cut this out, use technology.

To understand how hard it is to umpire a bowler with the pace of Umar Gul you have to be there and umpire. With some of my previous comments I've tried to explain why its so hard to umpire someone who bowls as fast as Gul does.

I meant this umpire (Richard Kettleborough) has made one error, is wasn't directed at Billy Doctrove (who you are refering to with the wicket keeping issue). By the way, being a qualified umpire I know that you are told if there is any doubt whether to call a no ball you call a no ball, besides with the pace Umar Gul bowls at you only get a split second to make the call. I'm sure this decision alone didn't shape the series.

Being an umpire all we get is a glance and we are told if you are unsure you call a no ball. Umpires can never be 120% sure, so shud all no ball calls be referred? It is harder than you think, by the way if that's one wrong decision in over eight hours of cricket the umpire hasn't had a bad game. Wrong no ball calls happens all the time at international cricket.
