I mean when Christ said "I am the gate for the sheep" he didn't actually mean that He was made out of metal. In order to believe the words in the new testament you must believe that a man walked on water, fed thousands with barely enough food to feed 20 people, turned water into wine, returned from the dead, and floated into the clouds. Events which all are NOT backed up by archeology, history, or any other scientific basis. To believe the old testament takes an even larger leap of faith. The key word being FAITH. You dismiss one religion based on the same fundamental ideal which is paramount to yours.

Some totaling in the hundreds (or possibly thousands?) depending on the crowd or following. Many of those eyewitnesses were still alive to confirm the events, later, when the bible was written. And when you consider the political climate during the crucifixion and the explosion of new converts (after Jesus' death), you have to wonder if they had a little more than faith to go on.

The bible is a guide book filled with metaphors, allegories, Parables/moral stories. If you take the deep exoteric meaning in it you will find that its based on following the golden rule much like other books written by man that were inspiried by the devine being. I mean when Christ said "I am the gate for the sheep" he didn't actually mean that He was made out of metal. Secondly, you have to find all verses speaking of certain events to find out more clearly what biblically happened, what the last verse tells you is hebrew tongue speaking pointing more likely to them hearing but not understanding.

In order to believe the words in the new testament you must believe that a man walked on water, fed thousands with barely enough food to feed 20 people, turned water into wine, returned from the dead, and floated into the clouds. Events which all are NOT backed up by archeology, history, or any other scientific basis. To believe the old testament takes an even larger leap of faith. The key word being FAITH. You dismiss one religion based on the same fundamental ideal which is paramount to yours.

@sedatedlife18 I'm no biblical expert, but perhaps you are neglecting all the eyewitness accounts of those miracles. Some totaling in the hundreds (or possibly thousands?) depending on the crowd or following. Many of those eyewitnesses were still alive to confirm the events, later, when the bible was written. And when you consider the political climate during the crucifixion and the explosion of new converts (after Jesus' death), you have to wonder if they had a little more than faith to go on.

The bible is a guide book filled with metaphors, allegories, Parables/moral stories. If you take the deep exoteric meaning in it you will find that its based on following the golden rule much like other books written by man that were inspiried by the devine being. Both Christianity and Islam portray a God with human-like attributes who demands never-ending praise and offers hell to those who do not subscribe no matter the reason. To me, even as a conscious creation could make up a better standard for what God should be like. The two religions, three including Judaism, degrade the being of God.
