  • i am 18 in 2012 and i am love with this 50's music

  • I remember when I was five or six years old and my grandfather would play the Everly Bothers and Connie Francis in the afternoons. Brings back sweet memories.

  • we used to do this. "who wants the high harmony?" and if you didnt call it you had to sign melody

  • being only 15 i feel weird loving this, not what would be expected. this era of music cannot be lost:(

  • I love that song. all time favourite

  • Comment removed

  • that man's hair is unnaturally dark for his age haha

  • So glad they got back together again. Hope you enjoyed the concert as much as I did. Couldn't believe how well they still harmonised. I loved them singing Lucille. Wish they were still touring. Can't name a favourite as I loved them all.

  • Everly Brothers are brilliant. I've been lucky enough to enjoy their music since the 50's. Did anyone see the reunion concert they did in the Albert Hall London. It was out of this world. !!!!!!!!!

  • @janbrow60 Yes...I was there :-)

  • @janbrow60 Did I see them, I was in the second row. We (the audience) and the Everlys were scared of what was to come but as you say it was out of this world. If you listen to the LP you can hear my nervous laugh when Don says "wounder if it still works? The real magic of that evening was when they sat on the stools and just sang the songs their Daddy taught them; absolutely wonderful. Thank goodness for youtube so we can see and hear again the best there ever was, the Everly Brothers!

  • The Everly Brothers have just got to be the best Duo I have ever heard, There songs have special meanings to me especially Let it be me, Long live Rock and Roll

  • i think one day rock n roll will make a comeback. maybe tommorow, maybe a week,a month,30 years. but i think once it will happen.

  • W Albert Lee LEAD GUITAR

  • mengingatkan masa ngamen d jogja

  • omg i love this!!

  • im playing this song on the piano

  • PHIL EVERLY explained:

"Don and I are infamous for our split, but we're closer than most brothers.

Harmony singing requires that you enlarge yourself, not use any kind of suppression.

Harmony is the ultimate love."... Erik aka Ricky Teal

  • wish my hair was like his

  • @themrjoemax :No, You really dont It. Its known that they were really more famous with the 50s look than they were with the 60s look. they changed because they wanted to keep up with the times.

  • @07chrisanne i totally agree there. I was born in 87 but I prefer this music to any of the new stuff. Today if u cant f and blind then they aint bothered. Wud love to c the 'modern' artists try to sing this stuff. They wud FAIL!

  • I was there....!

  • Song written by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, a great married songwriting team.

  • is this song writin by paul mcgartney ?

  • love everly brothers

  • The oldies are goldies any day far better than the present crap. Rap is crap! its nothing but recitation.

  • @07chrisanne calm down and let people have their own tastes you music nazii ,,, and ps.. enjoy the song :)

  • This song makes me twist every time I listen to it

  • stableshadow U ARE A FUCKING BITCH!!!

  • did anybody notice mr stage left broke a guitar string towards the end of the song :D they really rock those guitars!

  • man i love these guys but man they got FAT

  • the best part ( my opinion ) is bye bye love by Linda snoey

please search it and tell what you thought of it.

  • I go on gitar and i am learning this song !

  • There have been many Brothers and Sisters groups over the years, but none had the impact of these two boys from Kentucky..

.......Let's STAY DEVOTED To The Everly Brothers.....

    Erik a.k.a. Ricky Teal, Florida.

  • 0:47

  • Saw Don and Phil at the New York State fair in 1984 or 85. They were so good!

  • just love the everly brothers can't understand anyone who does not like them, they just don't know what music was all about, now do they?

  • Look under the video window and you will see a button that says "SAVE TO" ...click on it and click on "FAVORITES" that will put trhis video into your favorites.

I hope they quit making youtube "better"

  • Did anyone else see him break a string? He took it off and quit playing his guitar and threw the string on the stage. He pretended to play the last part but still a great performance Huh?

  • @retroron5053 Actually pretty unprofessional... almost as bad as tuning up during a song. Just stop playing.. don't start yanking it off mid-song.

  • @mrface19 Really, so when Buddy Guy rips his broken strings off or changes a whole guitar mid-song, he's unprofessional? Better report these fellas to the rock and roll HR department. That must be what you do for a living. HR departments--wrecking innovation and destroying creativity at a corporation near you.

  • @stableshadow Oh dear, such a pillock you are. If i break a string (it happens a lot), i play on as best i can until the end of the song then switch guitars, it's pretty simple. And please do tell... i'm curious... how does somebody on YouTube opining that something looks unprofessional mean that i am wrecking and destroying creativity? What's creative about breaking a fucking string? Get real.

  • @mrface19 But at the end of the day, they're the Everly Brothers and you're just some frustrated loser musician trying to make rules about something for which there are and should be no rules. Again, I ask you, is Buddy Guy unprofessional? He's one of the best blues guitarists in the world, and he always makes a big show about his broken strings. That's my point about creativity. When Buddy Guy breaks a string, he turns it into an exciting piece of showmanship.

  • @stableshadow Hahaha.. what a complete prick you are, sir. I love people that make assertions about people's lives without knowing a single thing about them. Frustrated? No. A loser? Far from it. Musician? Yes, and a fairly popular one locally. If anyone here is frustrated, it seems to be you, fucknut.

There's a clear difference between Buddy Guy breaking a string and using it for showmanship and an Everly Brother breaking one and looking like an amateur.

  • @mrface19 And what morons like you don't understand--which is why you play in your basement--is that you need to be a showman as much as a technically sound musician. Dickface. Don't go pontificating on what is professional when you are obviously such a fucking amateur.

  • @stableshadow 1. I don't have a basement.

    2. I know you need to be a showman.. i am one. And a decent musician to boot.

    3. There's a difference between being a showman and looking amateurish.

    4. If you can't recognise the difference in Point 3, you need to shut the fuck up right now.

Technically i am an amateur, yes. Simply because i have a full time job at present, but i gig regularly. So you were right on one point, i hope you can take solace in that.

  • Not human. GODS.

  • Great Everly Brothers. I´ve heard tihs song at first time in 1960

  • there soo fat now

  • wow red flowers---:-P

  • not the everly brothers at all

  • Everly Brothers, will live forever, there songs sound so Great 50 years later

  • Legendary is so right.....they are the greatest

  • The Legendary Everly Boys......

  • After Phil removed the broken string from his guitar, I wish he had thrown it across the stage to a waiting tech. to restring it. This is something he always did during their concerts... it was great to see and you always hoped the tech would catch it, and he did, except for one night when the guitar hit the floor!

  • nise songs

  • wow what a distinct sound great song

  • can't this one be put on favourits?the new page confuses me.

  • @pecansweet

Yes you can still favorite this video, just put your pointer over "save" and you get an option to "save as favorite"

I agree with you, it is a bit confusing, I guess we'll get used to it,

  • @megasuggs thanx megasuggs :)

  • @megasuggs thanx megasuggs :)

  • I'm just an Old Duck that remembers these two from the day. Didn't both of them join the Marine Corp together?

Back in those days, we did what our country wanted, and needed.

    CHI-Town Monk

  • I listened to their songs when I was a very little girl as these group was one of my dads favorite. As yrs. went by, I somehow have forgotten but now, my dad has passed away 3 yrs. ago and the songs from the Everly brothers has made the memories of my dad alive in my heart... Thanks Everly brothers...

  • Just wish to be back at this time of my live agani if only for one more day. I know that will never happen, but I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing for it . Time goes by too fast.

  • Hello Loneliness indeed in my case.

  • Good old Albert Lee on guitar. My guitar teacher told me that Don and Phil are affectionately known as Drink Everly and Smoke Everly.

  • Das hab ich gesungen in der schule alleine nd mein leherer hat gesagt das ist gut

  • Naturlich das is gut! Diese sind die Everly Brothers!!

  • are they still alive?

  • Yes. Don is 73 years old and Phil 71

  • @megasuggs Wow! where did the years go? I think i have almost all their 45,s

  • @megasuggs Do they still do concerts?

  • @UglySean I'm afraid not, they played their last concert together on November 29th 2005 at Ipswich in England, (I was lucky enough to have been there) and since then have only done a few odd individual appearances, basically, they have retired.

  • @megasuggs Thanks for the information. At least they went out the way they came in so many years ago, sounding fantastic. I made the unfortunate observation of cuts from a Neil Diamond CD a few years back.

He isn't so lucky. Die hard fans will no doubt disagree, but from my POV his voice just isn't what it used to be.

  • @westcoasthoshi, I always thought they were twins. Thanks for the update

I love the Everly Brothers and thanks for bringing them back.

    I love their singing.

    chuchu7s

  • Maybe their voices changed, but they sure kept their heads of hair! The voices still sound great too:):)

  • @janetathensbay LOL! Yes that's true, I didn't notice the hair on those two heads:) Good genes eh?

  • Different strokes for different folks; As for me, I'll take the times in the 50's and 60's......We had real singing......sorry.......

  • Just ......Cool......song well done.

  • i love it. this coming from a 90's kid. :)

  • brins you back

  • Comment removed

  • Yea; We really did have it back then, didn't we???

  • It is very neat to see them, here. I am not a regular on You Tube, when I saw the link to the Everly Brothers, I had to watch. Thank You for sharing.

  • They were only 18-20, so they weren't quite done with puberty, so of course their voice changed

  • Actually, they are better than ever.

  • Albert Lee on Lead Guitar stage right

  • @zevon1964 How do you know that he is playing Lead Guitar?

  • of course their change, itz a live performance duhhh!!!

  • their voice changed..

  • they're not 20 and 18 anymore, dumb , dumb , dumb!!!

  • Wish they would perform even just for fun in front of their family and friends. I just want to see them again.

  • omg...........this song is actually so nice even though its old. my school is usin it 4folk song!!

  • I love the Everly Brothers and I have been in the entertainment business for over 30 years. Someone needs to tell them that people want to hear the hits the way they were done, not their latest version because they are bored with the old one!

  • WONDERFULL!!!!!

  • Holy crap! Look at the stage! Can you say stripped down?

  • Who's looking at the sceanary??

I'm looking at my favourite boys.. Don & Phil!!

  • 'A yoy to see & hear>>thanks for posting...

  • Excellent!

Thank you for sharing this title.

    Regards

  • wonderfull

  • This song is too American for any other country except America...........did you notice that the English audience from England didn't applause at the outset of this song???

  • This song was a #1 song in the UK. Quit imagining things that don't exist.

  • Like millions, I am a big fan of the Brothers. Question: In this 1985 performance, does Phil have a broken string or other problem? Granted, he's not playing guitar amplified, but in 3rd chorus he seems to be pulling a broken string. After that, he plays very little. Just curious.

  • Yes, well spotted, it has been commented that in "Let it be me" from the same performance, that Phil's guitar is just "furniture" as he doesn't play it at all, the reason of course is the broken string.

  • ...is this from their appearance on 'Live From Her Majestys'...?...I only ask because I remember watching them on it, then on GMTV the next morning Phil said he'd broken a string....amazing what rubbish you remember after 25 years...

  • Yes, this was from `Live From Her Majesty's` I cant belive it was 25 years ago, I'm just glad I kept the recording.

  • Yes, Judplay... Phil broke a string & is pulling it off the guitar. Usually during full concerts they have two extra guitars behind them, just for moments like this when a string breaks. And, Phil, who breaks strings often, would throw his guitar across the stage to waiting hands of a tech. who would restring it. It was always a highlight to see him toss that guitar high in the air & hope those waiting hands caught it. Phil would make a joke about it, but one night he missed & it hit the floor!

  • Phil is a true professional.. he removed the string without looking down or missing a beat! A comment about not being plugged in.. fsigmon is 100% right! Phil plays guitar every bit as well as Don, but Don always had to be first, #1 in everything. Phil's roll was always to play backup, hence no lead singing & very few of his songs made their albums. They always disagreed, even in the early years & it just got worse! The breakup, inevitable, but it finally gave us Phil's beautiful solo voice!

  • I saw these guys in Los Angeles a few years ago, and they brought the house down. There were some "old jokes" going around, but no young people could perform like them!

  • my reply was for brandnathan. please reply if thats not what you meant. please forgive me if i misunderstood.

  • I think your reply was fine Sue,

until we get old ourseves we don't realise it's gonna happen, and we can do nothing to prevent it. :-)

  • omg they have changed alot:O

  • scuse me doubled but yes indeed that dem der is de everly brothers-de one and only.

  • This is the brothers!

  • We sang this son gin music

  • hey thats that song by those two boys!!!

see..even old people like playing those two boys songs..i dont think them boys would mind these two old dudes playing their song.

  • what year was this it looks like it was close to when i saw them?

  • FAB SHOW , WHAT YEAR WAS THIS

  • 1985

  • when the break finally came, as it was bound to because i read the book and all phil had to say about don were words of praise. don called phil about getting back to gether not the other way around and you could feel the strain. the fact is phil was a better brother. the happiest that i have ever seen don was when they got back together.phils music is hard to find and they are collectors items. thats irony for you. fsigmon

  • These guitars are the 'Ike Everly' model co-designed by Phil Everly and crafted by Robert A Steinegger from Portland Oregon.Don has one which contains over one pound of gold fittings,a 50th birthday present from Phil.

  • I've noticed this before (in the "Reunion" DVD). How come Don's Gibson is plugged in and Phil's isn't?

  • Don is the major guitarist of the Everlys, it is his guitar you hear on all the early stuff, Phil plays, but not to Don's standard, so they let the sound of his guitar be picked up by the microphone. Their father Ike was a brilliant guitarist, I saw him perform once.

  • you know all don ever want to be was a star by himself, he never meant for phil to ever be in the spotlight so he made a big mistake when they took the johnny cash show so me cash could be off for the summer. i think don thought everything would be the same but the producers divided them up and had them both doing solos by themselves as well as letting phil make introductions. i

things went down hill after that. another comment

  • Is it from the ARENA documentry. It is a shame not more footage of the practice for the reunion concert was included. Met Pete and Albert a few times, great guys always have time after the show. I got them to sign my IKES BOYS book.

  • I met Pete and Albert backstage at a Buddy Holly tribute in Belfast organised by Dave Edmunds, they even let all the fans into the dressing room backstage. I seen the Kentucky, it is from the Arena documentry. It is a shame longer clips of the practice for the Reunion concert where not included in the programme.

  • albert lee is so talented, but i wish he would look up a little more so we can see his face. maybe it just when you do see him smile he looks like a sweet angel.fsigmon

  • Am i right in saying that this is one of the few tours that Pete Wingfield did not play on. I think the keyboard player is Ian Mclaghlan, as i seen them on this tour in Belfast. Pat Alger is also on guitar with Albert.

  • Yes I think you are right there, Pete is a great keyboard player and a really nice friendly guy, he put a plate of sandwitchs on the ground in the car park to free his hands to sign autographs, btw have you seen my latest "Kentucky"

  • since you have seen these guys how tall are they. it is hard to tell

  • I have stood next to both of them, I am 177cm they are both a bit shorter than me, I guess about 170cm or 5'6", I could be wrong but thats how I remember it, it was 10 years ago.

  • since you know about cm's may you could tell me in inches how big is 4mm or 4 mmm? for some reason i just can't figure what a lbs is in american dollars or the whole metric system. iwas bidding on ebay one time and i failed to see a lb sigh all i saw was 9.44. we were unfornately screaming across the atlantic via e-mail. he threaten to send my check back wrapped on a brick.

  • 4mm is equal to 5/32 of an inch, 4 cm is just over one and a half inches 1.574" to be exact.

A UK pound (£ not lb that is a pound in weight) is equal to $2.00 , 2 US dollars.

In weight 1 KG is equal to 2.2 lbs.

  • thank you so much, there are some gemstones that i want in jasper but everything is in mm.s

  • I'v just looked it up, Don is 5'9" Phil is 5'10" although they seemed shorter, :-)

  • i thought thy were so much taller, it just hard to tell people sizes. johnny cash must be about 6 ft. because he seem taller than either of them. thanks for answering. you have great videos.

  • Phil Donnerly on guitar, Pat was the suppoet on the 85 tour also support on 84

  • It was actually Albert Lee on Guitar, he toured with them almost every gig during the reunion gigs.

  • I am fully awaer who played what and who played when, thanks!. this was a reply to eb 84 who wrote....Am i right in saying that this is one of the few tours that Pete Wingfield did not play on. I think the keyboard player is Ian Mclaghlan, as i seen them on this tour in Belfast. Pat Alger is also on guitar with Albert.

  • the guy on guitar playing 2nd lead is Phil Donnerly. Pat was the support on this tour he was also the support on the 84 tour

  • Great stuff. What year were these videos from?

  • They are from November 1985. BWT Greg I haven't forgotten your CDs they will be on the way shortly. I do keep my promises, (ask EB84)

  • wonderful :)

  • Superb!! Strange how they made no tv appearances to promote the 2005 tour. Just another thought, wouldnt it be great to have one of those An Audience with...tv shows were famous people get to question and sing with them!!
