@Anquetil79: You do not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified Nancy boy, who is afraid of wars! You are indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant, the most exciting thing that has happened to you limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when you forgot to put sugar in your porridge!
I was at the 2000 show it was brilliant! The booze up in the evening was fun but being drunk and trudging through all that mud to get to my tent.......Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!
They got a nice chippy in Battle. It has been known for me to wander round Morrisons, Tescos or Sainsbury's in kit, also getting on a bus or train is fun hehehehe!
The mud ah yes I got burled round in the beer tent and landed on my back my kirtle was black after that. I seem to remember also slipping down a slope getting to the tent also climbing up a gate and shouting "stars!"
@londonpenda Normans have to eat too..guess the AS wouldent mind as long as it was buy one get one free on the steaks haha. I want to try and rustle a group who can fight for the 10-11 hours..like the actual battle with only a few mins break. anyone?...no?...
I'm a young filmaker and I have been working on a script based on a future film about the battle of hastings. it should be finished around may of 2008.
I don't think Hotspur will have a chance in hell of even being there since he was born about 290 years too late to be at the battle of hastings. Hastings was 11th century. Henry "Hotspur" Percy lived in the 14th century.

I am from Normandy, I am proud to be Norman and will never see myself as a French.

But when your drunk, the mud is more 'fun'...;)
What done my head in was seeing Normans walking up Battle High Street with shields over their shoulder, sword by their side and carrying a lance..O.O
And both AS and N queueing up in the Co-op.
Very surreal..

Saxons spoke Anglo-Saxon not English, so why are they talking in English. Saxon didn't evolve into English a long time after this

Because the AS language is a varsity language and not everybody can afford varsity!

Somebody needs to make a movie about the battle of hastings. It'd be like 300, but Hotspur will have almost won. right?
