Oh sweet jesus he was gorgeous back in the day (he still is). I had the hots for him BIG TIME! First saw him in the She S S film clip and fell in love lol. He was so beautiful, those beautiful dark eyes and full luscious lips and that long black gorgeous hair. My perfect man. Saw him in concert in the late 80's in Brisbane/Australia. Cost me $12.00. Oh memories. Love The Cult always!
The Love album - I think it's the only album I've ever bought multiple times (the vinyl in 1985, first issue CD in 1990, remaster CD in 2000 and Omnibus edition in 2009) and still treasure every copy I have!
Did you mention Lady gag gag in the same sentence as true artists?! The Cult has been a favorite of mine for quite awhile now, but not many people I know now(Later in life) have ever heard of them. I played a couple videos today for my HS students, and they were blown away!!!!!!
110,000 views?! Wow, Lady Garbage would garner that in a couple of days. Doesn't it make you feel a little smarter watching this video? Like you know something that the majority of mankind doesn't....The Cult is one of the greatest bands ever! I feel privileged that I came across these guys in the mid 80's
I read where Billy mentioned that all the stations in the UK back then were playing nothing but POP BS and all the Synth crap that started when Punk was dying, and thats all they would play, just mainstream nonsense, and they would purposely overlook anyone like him and ian and ignore it all. In order for them to get noticed, they needed to leave the UK, along with others like Depeche Mode, New Order, The Smiths, etc..
Yea, its sad these guys flew under the radar for song, but i think it sorta foreshadows their name. It's like they are a 'cult' to people who really appreciate what they are about.
Mezmerising, Ian and Billy look like they are from different decades yet compliment each other on stage so beautifully. No other band had this echoey, soaring sound with a relentless beat. And it sounds even better today when you can appreciate it compared to other stuff out there now.
Billy so serious. Ian so flamboyant. So much talent in one band.
Love is album that will never get old. Just bought the box set. I can't believe I have been listening to this for 25 years. There are few bands from high school that have stood up the test of time.
Underrated is an understatement! Completely overlooked and they should of had more success back in the day. And Billy Duffy was beyond criminally underrated! Everything in their music is simplistic back to the basics rock and roll with their own unique flair. Great stuff.

True, and I kind of stand corrected, which I don't really mind. But, Americans often refer to THE guitarist in a one-guitar band as the lead guitarist, even though there's no rthymn guitarist.
Amen. Saw them last night at Amos' Southend in Charlotte NC. Opened with Nirvana and it sounded just as awesome as it did in 85. Ian had his Jim Morrison thing going on. Awesome!
Cool! Speaking of the Jim Morison vibe, I got to see Riders/Doors2the21st/whatever here in LV @ the Palms as well; same casino, but I think that it was a different venue in The Palms.
Yeah, we drove down from Raleigh for the show. Amos' really is a great venue. I met Ian and John Tempesta outside and took some pics with them. One of the highlights of my life for sure!!!! I'm seeing them again in Raleigh next week...cant wait!

I have seen the CULT play this song live in Concert Three times . When in Atlanta Ga i use to do the Mid -Town Music Festival . the CULT did the last song , on that stage ,. and i HAVE never SEEN SO MANY pEOPLE Jumping to Gitar . Outside Like Music was meant to be heard , SEEN . Like your heart beats Baby Loud outside and THUMPING , yea the CULT , was / is the S#hit . I remember PONCE DE LEON at Peachtree , too . I gonna have a good time . Every day always this way ( day )
This may be the Cult's best live performance ever. The sound is so tight. Just perfect. And to me the best cult line up with Ian, Billy, Jamie and Lez Warner on Drums. Brilliant!!!!
This is my first time listening to this track in 20 years. But to this day I still remember the little indiosyncracies of this live performance. Awesome to hear to again.
the break of this song is fantastic , PurePoster, I agree, but they were obligued by the company to change their sound to hi the USA( confidential info grlfrd of road crew drummer ), this concert was an isle amid MichaelJackson/DuranDuran, remember 1986/7 they were aiming towards Motley Crew and the new LA glam scene, this music was so ´British´ very The Cure/Mission not so big at the time, anyway they loved the USA
LOVE-- hands down-- is the best Cult album. Hell, the best album ever! I wish they stuck with this formula, rather than listening to Rick Rubin and becoming more hard-edged. They had such a unique sound and look. True trailblazers for the time.
I never heard this song until I saw them recently in Toronto April 12, 2008 and they opened with this song. Having said that, I love this song and can't seem to find it on any album....Death Cult, Southern Death Cult or any The Cult album for that matter. Maybe I did not look good enough but can anyone tell me where I may find it? Thanks
I love this Ritz video that U2Earlyvids put on here!! I have a pretty good Cult collection and have never heard of the NYC Ritz concert! I have seen The Cult 7X and this version of Nirvana is amazing. The echo/ referb effect...so cool
I have always love the cult. The hat is great. I can't tell if it's made of leather or felt? Does anyone know what you call that style of hat. I was thinking about trying to buy one. Thanks
I think he has the most beutiful voice in the world. Sorry, but i am crazy for them. This music makes me cry...its too much emotion.Cultcrazy, you are not alone.
This is the best concert video they ever did! We need the whole thing posted! Billy Duffy rocks the sh$% out of those strings. Ah, and long lost Jamie Stewart plucking bass. Nothing better.
if someone would ever mention the 2 words 'rock' & 'nirvana' I would always associate this song - which I loved since it 1st came out. Kurt Cobain and his band took over that association and cheated me of that. That is what I meant and I still think is one of their best songs. every... day... nirvana... al... ways the same... yeah... yeah... yeah....
I don't care what they say about Ian's role in the doors. Some say he was trying to be Jim (noone can be Jim)!. He Just brought his music back foe another generation to enjoy.

I have always love the cult. The hat is great. I can't tell if it's made of leather or felt? Does anyone know what you call that style of hat. I was thinking about trying to buy one. Thanks

This is the best concert video they ever did! We need the whole thing posted! Billy Duffy rocks the sh$% out of those strings. Ah, and long lost Jamie Stewart plucking bass. Nothing better.

Nechepsos 4 years ago
I don't get what you mean by that. Please explain Nechepsos!!??
firewoman80 4 years ago
if someone would ever mention the 2 words 'rock' & 'nirvana' I would always associate this song - which I loved since it 1st came out. Kurt Cobain and his band took over that association and cheated me of that. That is what I meant and I still think is one of their best songs. every... day... nirvana... al... ways the same... yeah... yeah... yeah....
