From making of Moonwalker. also, the answer other debates. I went Chicago 1945, Al Capone then Smooth Criminal. But Chicago 1945, at least the title, possibly the music to with new lyrics, was recoded during the Invincible sessions. Not much is known about either version though =(

An early version of the song was written by Jackson and John Barnes in 1985 and the original demo was recorded in 1986. The original title was "Al Capone". This version didn't make the album and was re-worked and re-written as "Smooth Criminal".

Might be "something" from that, you have found:) but i cannot tell for sure though.
