That's amazing. Built out of cardboard? Sounds like a great idea! Are there plans available for it online? Seems like it flies well at slower speeds too.
It looked like a nice flight....the landing looked fine....the left wingtip dipped and you lost the lift...I think if you could have kept the wings level you would have glided it right in....IMHO you gotto fly these birds to the ground...All in all...great video and flight!!! What make is the plane?
Thanks! Actually, the main problem was trying to fly a 8-9 pound airplane on a Power 32 motor. Fine for cruising, but REALLY dangerous to get behind the power curve! Stalls alot more easily. The plane is actually a scratchbuild from cardboard, made to be the same size as the Hangar 9 P-40. See my other cardboard P-40 vid.
Wow that didnt seem like that hard of a landing. Seems like the landing gear was weak though. I have seen much rougher landings and the gear survived.
Yeah, the LG attach points were kinda her achiles heel. The problem is that the wing is cardboard with camber (like a potato chip) and the LG plates are only glued at the front and back. A big empty space in between. I'm gonna fill that space in and epoxy the whole plates down before I fly her again. The real reason she crashed is because the motor is angled too far down. When I throttle off to land, the nose picks up. It's hard to fight with elevator.
