Hi! Great video dude! I have a question... I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8 (it is 4 or 5 years old) and I want to edit some videos recorded with Canon Legria HF S10 (in AVCHD, 1280x720). Do you think that I will have any kind of problem? Like slow down clips, errors, freezing up moments, bad working... I can't buy a better computer, so I hope the one I have works perfectly.
@antichristSvperstar9 Thanks. Sorry man I don't know Mac, but I think 4-5 year old could be not powerful enough. It also depends on what software will you use. Best thing is to get short raw file and to try it! Go to the shop, do a test shoot, get the file on flash stick and try it.
really? ill have to try that, im having a ton of trouble getting my mts files to have HD quality on youtube unless i upload the raw mts file but I want to edit it first like you did. these shots look great btw
You will get veg. file if you try to save PROJECT! If you want to save ready to use video you need to select "render" instead, then try to select in "Save as type:" window "Windows media Video V11" in "template" window select something between 5 Mbps to 6.7 Mbps. Read "Help" in Vegas.
Sorry man, I don't really know - it just works for me that's it. I use Vegas Pro 9. In "Project properties" I select "HDV 720-25p (1280x720, 25.000 fps)" or "HD 1080-50i (1920x1080, 25.000 fps)" & when you going to render it - select WMV type.
How did you get the videos to work in Sony Vegas, I put mine on and the format of the videos are MTS. Files and it is really choppy and hard to edit PLEASE HELP
No, I didn't use tripod that time. About IS: I can't say it is good or bad but any way if you want to get realy good picture you need to use a tripod WITH FLUID HEAD particularly in 50i mode.
HF S10. I was in the same situation at one time. When you compare it comes down to the HF200 and the HFS10. The differences are that the 10 has 32GB of internal memory where the 200 doesn't and the lens on the 10 is the bigger. The 10 has manual focus the 200 doesn't. The 10 is about twice as much but the end product will look like a pro camera shot it. Hope this helps. Good luck. If and when you decide to buy one, get or make a steadycam or it. Since these cameras are so light, you'll need one.
Hi there I am thinking of buying a canon hf s100 for sure...! I am thinking of directing my friends music video. My actual question is what is the best software that you think i can use to edit ?. Pls reply i greatly appreciate it thanks.
I'm not a pro, I tell you what I know. O.k. it depends of: 1) your skills; 2) what really you want to do, basic or more advanced editing; 3) your PC - you need more power for Adobe Premiere CS4 and less power for rest of video editors. I currently use Sony Vegas 9, but I'm thinking to try Premiere when I get 64 bit machine. My current machine has Intel quad core + 4GB RAM + 640GB HD (+2 TB external)and it takes up to few hours to save 10-20 minutes clip...
Hi, I have the same camera and I am using Corel to edit my videos ( which is only cut and paste) and i save it in the mpeg-2 format to upload in youtube hence, the quality of my videos decreases like anything. can you please tell me if what format are you using to upload you videos. that ll be very helpful. you could also check one of my videos to see the quality. thanks again.
hey, the best option for importing videos to the web is mp4 format. Files are small but compressed in a very good way, there is very little loss in quality, sometimes non visible to human eye.
I was considering getting this camera, but this video doesn't make it look that great. It's ghosting in the movement. The lighting and DOF in many shots doesn't make the camera look attractive. I don't know if I want to get it now after seeing a few videos like this.
I chose this camera because of: colors + very high resolution, mostly. There are few things I don't like as well, but those I really like are compensating for them. But it depends on your priorities, of course. You have to see ORIGINAL (not youtube) video recorded with this camera on 42" TV.
I got some questions, I want to get the S100, but I'm debating it over an HV40, simply because HDV is simpler to edit.
I use Sony Vegas Platinum 9.0b, and was wondering if you would need to do any converting (not for YouTube playback) when you upload to the computer?
Also, do you need a beefed up computer to edit on? I have 3gb of RAM and AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6Ghz, and was wondering if that would be enough.
You can open mts files in Vegas Pro 9 without problems or any conversion. I have 4GB Intel quad core and it can handle those files well but I didn't try any complex effects or filters yet. Once I applied few filters same time and had an error "low memory". You need to see original quality video from S100 to make right decision.
I've used "P". I'm trying different modes right now, maybe will upload new video (not a test any more) from this camera soon. But you should watch original video to realise what this little thing can do.
I have almost same clip (shorter) uploaded as m2ts file. I had no problem to upload but youtube can't handle (convert) those files well (I've used 24mbps quality) You can see distortion.

Does converting the cli from its original mts file change the quality dramatically and ruin the HD?

@ClickKopf As you can see - is not.

do you think a 3gb dual core will be able to handle it?
i could always shut off lots of things to save memory as well, antivirus etc..

it definitely will, but at what speed... if you could get original mts file from somewhere you could simple try it

You didn't read the title. It's Canon HF S10. If you see original video - you'll stay with open mouth for long.

thats what I meant... is that the s10 or s100?...... or are they pretty much the same?
jomama124 2 years ago
Sorry. It's S10, but S100 is exactly the same except is has no internal memory.

Excellent clear pictures and interesting audio.
Not sure why you couldn't directly upload an mts/m2ts file to YouTube.
I did exactly that a couple of days ago with a 17Mbps FXP quality movie from my HF100.
