Everybody knows that some of the worst English is spoken in England. Only the "Queens English" is clear and easy to understand. Mainstream American Business English is next best.
Nice vid, I love using these to help my students. One problem though; I noticed, when the lady at the end spells her name, it sounds like," E-L-E-I-N-E." In the video you have, "ELAINE."
I find the differences in slang between US & the UK to be the most confusing...For instance, once while staying with a friend in the UK I was going out while my friend stayed home...But he asked me to bring him home some "Fags" & "Rubbers". "Really...are U serious?"I asked. & he added "of course I am!" Of course I didnt realize he wanted cigarettes and some erasers for his pencil.. SO when I came home, W/2 Trannies & handed him a box of condems, & then left, He was quite upset when I got back!
I wished Brazil had a place like that to record the videos to take to the classroom. In order to show the learners some authentic English, I use your videos in class. Thank you very much for the useful material!
Lea's from Northern Ireland. I'm American (living in France), and I can't understand the rest of the conversation we had with him and his girlfriend Alana. There are exercises in a lesson on the Real English site helping students to understand him - simply because I like to show a lot of different accents.
"Oh, you actually participate." This is not odd. "Actually" means "in fact", or "in reality".
Lea replies "Aye". THIS seems ODD to people outside of Northern Ireland, because it is "old English".
For example, if you have seen Johnny Depp as captain of a ship in "The Pirates of the Caribbean", he always says "Aye" instead of "Yes". "Aye" is from the 15th to 19th centuries, before "yes" became common in most English-speaking countries.
I am using your video to teach a student every morning, funny and pleasant makes learning easier for them, btw the "deaf " interviewers caption is cute!
I think that real English is same as standerd English which learned in high acadimic and contain grammer rules ,and it also found in dictioneries and goverments offices

Interviewer - "What do you do for fun?"
Guy - "Stock Car Racing"
.......
Interviewer - "Are you actually participate?" (odd)
Guy - "I (yes), I race them"
Interviewer - "How often do you race?"
Guy - "Every Wednesday Night"

Very good - just a couple of mistakes.
The interviewer says:

Hi MacDelight,
Are you accessing the Lessons on the Real English site? That's the best work I've done.
Just type Real English in Goggle and it's the first site at the top.
