  • 1 person is a Justin Bieber fan

  • just finished listening to Metallica to move on to this. Some may disagree with me but music is more timeless than any particular musician, it could be bach, mozart, brahms, wagner, beatles, queen, elvis, gaga, bieber. Everyone should be proud of their musical tastes no matter what they are.

  • It may just be my current mood but...This is truly magical.

  • 2:23 Cello melody.. Oh God

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • 5:02 is quite lovely

  • ah, I especially love 2:50 - 3:11

  • Just what the world needs, another pseudo-intellectual purist with an ax to grind about repeat signs and form. Honestly, I agree with you...I would much rather take the time to listen to what Brahms has to say twice anytime over your sarcastic attempt to prove to the world that you know the score. Of course Sonata-Allegro form has a repeat sign there! Thanks npa589 for posting a great recording of Brahms 2! Maybe Brahms 2 is a little abbreviated for Pixel543. ;)

  • @rmarsden58 Only recording I know of that takes the repeat is the Marin Alsop recording by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. But the repeat is worth taking.

  • Removed my post that stated my opinion on your statement? Seems you like to pick and choose composer markings as well comments......

.....and boom goes the dynamite.... <3

  • just letting people know they don't repeat the exposition.

  • @Pixel543 most orchestras don't. At this point in composition, the repeat is just there as a stylistic formality to show that the first movement is indeed a Sonata form A:|B(a):|| generally with a coda attached. This piece, and others like it, such as Schubert's "great" symphony, would be totally unwieldly and, arguably almost unlistenable if you put the repeat it. This movement already takes two Youtube posts to complete, it'd be at least one more if not two if all the repeats were observed.

  • who cares =D good music

  • Which karajan recording is this -- '60s or '70s? '70s, no?
