Now that looks like fun! -- I did a 16ft Mitchell skiff a few years back with a Berkely jet drive and a dinky 30hp Yanmar diesel... danggg that brings back good memories
@therealmr905 How did you learn how to work on a project like that? Did someone teach you? I've got a 12-foot jonnie I would love to do something like that with, but I'm way too much of a beginner at this point; I'd probably ruin a perfectly good boat.
@HooseBinPharteen Honestly, no one taught me how to do it......I just got a cheap deal on a great running seadoo w/o papers. So I figured it would make a great project after I saw a video on youtube.....Took my time planning and measuring befor I started vutting and it worked out great! Check out my other video of the build!
@therealmr905 Thanks for the quick reply. I'll probably wait till a more opportune time to try it. Right now not a lot of money in my pocket and I use my jonnie for fishing all the time, but down the road I could totally see me trying it (maybe I'll buy an old fix-it-up jonnie to experiment with). For now, I did the other fun experiment and converted a 7 hp Briggs mower engine into a 4-stroke outboard and will test it out in the lake soon.
@HooseBinPharteen I'd really like to figure out how to set up some steering linkage so I don't have to sit sideways the whole time I'm driving, but I'm just not clever enough to figure it out on my own. I'm going to have to keep researching until I find someone who's done it and doesn't mind sharing the info. Anyway, great vids, thanks!
@HooseBinPharteen I hear ya on that, As of right now the boats just sitting on a trailer next to my bass boat.....Haven't ridden it in quite some time now......Will definatly ride it come summertime though. Let me know how that project turns out for ya, we have a couple of people around here that has that same setup on their houseboats.
Hey man I'm from Thibodaux, and I'm really considering building one of these. As a matter of fact, we may know one another or something. I've got a lot of friends in the Chackbay/Choctaw area. PM me on here, I'd like to ask some advice if I could.
