  • My name is Danny...

  • John McDermott's version of Danny Boy was always my favourite one, but having finally seen Miller's Crossing and hearing this version, I'm really impressed by this one as well.

  • What's the rumpus?

  • what genre of music in this?

  • ALWAYS PUT ONE IN THE BRAIN!!!!

  • I been looking at many Danny Boy versions, this has to be the best I found, no lie!

  • @fireman12888 have you heard of Harry Connick Jr.'s version of the song? it's very good also. by the way, as the song is an Irish folk song, i'm trying to find a version that's most closest to the Irish sound (like with pipes, fiddles, etc.). Got any recommendation? Thanks in advance!!

  • Jesus Tom!

  • This is a truly beautiful version of Danny Boy, and I dedicate it to my lovely brother Dave who died prematurely last year. His birthday would have been tomorrow (8th September). Dave, I hope you're sleeping in peace. Love you so much, miss you so much.

  • Because if you told me, and you were lying then I wouldnt get to come back and kill you..NOW WHERE'S LEO?

  • 'Does he want a pillow for his head?'

  • And I'M SICK A' THE HIGH HAT!

  • @sidDkid87 Somethin' I try to teach all my boy, always put 1 in the brain!

  • I only wish I had seen this guy in concert. He's got a voice of gold.

  • The great voice singing a classic.

Just curious. Why "ye"? Ye is the archaic plural of archaic thou.

  • @AnotherCuppaCoffee You're right. I think "Ye" can be used in the singular to add formality or respect though. Not sure if that's the story though...

  • @jamesbuckie1 Actually, the opposite is true. 'Ye' and 'thou' are the intimate forms of the word.

  • @AnotherCuppaCoffee

To explain "ye" in a way that is more readily comparable to today's English: "ye" is the nominative form of objective "you" - but in modern times we "you" as both the objective form and the nominative form. Of course, the old singular nominative "thou" and its objective "thee" have both been replaced by "you", and the plural forms "thy" and "thine" by "your" and "yours", respectively.

  • @WiggaMachiavelli Huh? What? No - this is great!

  • Beautiful version, more clear than when scored in the movie.

  • sublime

  • happy saint paddys!

  • I wouldn't want to get shot by a gangster in the woods but it would be okay if this song was playing in the background

  • He's still an artist with a Thompson!

  • YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE FEK YOURE TALKN ABOUT ... DO YA?

  • This has to be the best version ive ever heard great singer

  • this song was actually written by an English man in 1910. the Irish just assumed title and its not actually about a boy going off to war but just leaving home.

  • the 2 people who wished to dislike this were killed by an irish gangster, and never got a chance to actually click the button.

  • Where's my Thompson submachine gun???
