When this came out, I was surrounded by Prog Rock and pop chart music. I must have been the only kid in my year who even noticed this. Something about Roy Phillips' voice and that piano arrangement. Used to play it on an old Dansette Viva record player with the continuous play arm up. I'm 15 again, in my room, playing it over and over. That last chord on the top end of the piano could be put on a continuous loop as far as I'm concerned. Sweet sound.
There are some songs that really just need piano backing. And this is one of them. Heard it first when it came out, and it made me realise just what a good piano backing is. Love the chords. Would love to here this amplified, piano and vocals only in a huge hall.
I remember seeing them twice. Once when they Played at the Diamond Horseshoe on the end of Southend pier, then shortly afterwards at the Monico on Canvey Island.
Good group that weren't commercial enough to make it really big. Very good all the same.

Dont get much better than this - Still have not moved on in some 40 odd years have we ?? As a race of this planet - should ALL hang our heads in shame - Peace xx
Thanks for all the comments guys - I've put the lyrics up now too. I guess it's been getting some airplay recently. That line about 'soldiers . . . giving their lives for man's greed' doesn't seem out of date, does it?

@AbeGrimes Thanks for the comment, mate. I couldn't agree more, some songs are better performed with a simple arrangement.
