Yeah, they were basically smooth, weren't they--the moments have always been the smoothest! Yes, the voices were more falsetto back then, but they were high and 'good'...!
Sylvia Robinson who owned the Stang Records label that The Moments recorded for also cut this song on her Pillow Talk Lp. Personally, I prefer hearing this number sung from a female point of view. I feel what you're implying by certain "high male voices" back then, but their effectiveness deeply depended on how smooth & sweet the voice could be as opposed to shrill and piercing - a fine line between being a "cool crook" like Eddie Kendricks or waxing overly feminine like Mr. Brown in this case.
I was given a box of cd's about 7 years ago , one of the songs was called "Pillow talk". The lady who is singing sounds very dirty towards the end!High voiced men are ok but Barry White sounded sexier?

I want that suit for my next class reunion. The thug look would have got you no where in the classy 70s

They've changed group name from The Moments to
Ray, Goodman And Brown.
But beautiful falsetto vocals still remain same as 70's. How I loved sweet soul at this
time of era. Thanks for posting! Makes me wanna listen to some BLUEMAGIC tunes ,too.
