The idea is to wear you down until you do whatever they tell you to do. Like pay by ck now, down pay now balance later, the whole idea is the collectors commission.
PART ONE - I use to work in a debt collection company and after two months quit because I got tired of lying to people and causing them more stress in life. Just an FYI, if debt collectors are calling you, DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY!!! It's all scare tactics they use to get people to pay. We where told to use words like Police,arrest, and so on to scare people. 99% of time they might garnish your paycheck, because thats what they can afford to do and that's it.
PART TWO - Just because they send you an email or something in the mail with a lawyers name on it or the sheriffs name, doesn't mean it's real. Sometimes they say they've already spoken with the police department, NOT TRUE. They just looked up your county and use that info. Collectors have thousands of accounts and can't afford to pursue you. Just like anyone else, it cost them money to get a lawyer. If the caller can't get you to pay then they lose there job and thats why there so aggressive.
