sorry for trying to correct you, but the world rally car is not based on the wrx sti, but simply, on the regular impreza. what they do is, they use an impreza body shell and build from the ground up, henceforth, the world rally car is called the Impreza WRC
lol its not a blow off valve.. rally cars dont have them as blow off/dump valves release some boost pressure thus slowing you down..blow off valve is to protect the turbo but a multi million pound orgaisation doesnt need to protect a turbo that gets changed for every race.. what your hearing is a dirty expensive rally spec turbo charger in action doing what it was made for.. to suck air! lots of it!!!
yo go on my profile and look on my favorites and you'll see a video called "The Lost Rally" with a Blue 06 Sti on it. Then you'll see what i'm talking about. It's pretty hot!
oh well i said something like that yea. theres a video i saw with regualr wrxs and sti's doing this stuff. jus in dirt and snow. look on my page and in my favs ull see a video called the lost rally
Nope,It's the Turbo/Wastegate blow,In the car you have a button to press so you ALWAYS have Pressure from the Turbo , He turn the button off and the pressure ''PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTT!''
Don't listen to hpnohp. It is the blowoff valve. It releases excess pressure after you release the throttle so that it doesn't mess up the turbine from reversing air. Pressing a button would be too labor intensive, considering that you have to brake, shift, steer, etc...
I agree but it doesn't just release pressure when gas pedal is lifted it also does it when to much pressure is built up, as rally cars now don't take the foot of the gas to change up the gears. I know its not the same but the priciples are the same, my common-rail diesel does it if i keep my foot down it realeses the pressure with crap boy racer style psssst, without lifting the throttle.
look man they inject petrol directly into the turbine housing to keep the turbo going even when the engine rev is low, they dont care about the cost of replacing a turbo on these cars, as long as the car is competetive as others thats the main aim for these teams.
if i had an extra million dollars laying around i would give half of it to prodrive to build me one of those and spend the other half on property with lots of dirt roads.
prodrive just dosnt sell brand new rally cars, they also sell used ones. they even have a pdf on the prodrive website of used cars they are selling. =D
these rally drivers have the biggest set of steel balls known to man kind have a look at the speed and then notice the large drop off the side mainly at the start through the tight ss
hey...this is simply awesome! also kinda cool with your filters at the start, the purple one looks nice :-) my god, don't that car shift!!! 0-60 2/3 secs?
Ok you are right they must start of a production car but in the end it is almost different car. why should it cost 350 000usd and more? there is a shitload of modifications.
Prodrive is not part of subaru. The WRX and STi do not have the same engine. The STi is not "tuned" by prodrive, it's just a different car with a different drivetrain, suspension, brakes etc just like the base model impreza and the WRX are different.
Prodrive will build you whatever you want...If you drove there in your standard STi and told them to install a WRC level engine, they would do it provided that you could pay for it. Road cars are converted into rally cars every single day...
that is true! the production version of the Impreza is tuned by STi or by SPT in the U.S. Prodrive is in charge of tuning and building the Impreza WRC..The exterior of the Impreza STi and the Impreza WRC may look the same but the WRC version has a wider wheelbase for improved cornering..and the WRC version packs a lot of horsepower too!!!
Street cars are at times converted to rally cars. This is called P-WRC. The P stands for produciton meaning that it is from a factory and then converted. This series is governed by the FIA and will cost over a million dollars to be competitive and support a team. It cost 60000 euros alone to compete in one race. Again this series is not WRC but is a lower class under the FIA rules.
WRC does not stand for World Rally Car. Its officially the World Rally Championship. I suppose you could substitute car. The car is almost a million dollar expense during a season.
dude here in america we had a 2.5L in the STI ever since its introduction now the wrx had a 2.0. Now since 2006 they both have the 2.5L 4cyl. First do someresearch befor you go talking smak you english ppl are all the same thinking u know everything
The wrx and the STI do not have the same engines. The internals are different. All JDM production subarus are 2 liter and in America we have the 2.5 liter. However this does not follow the homoligation rules. The STI is not tuned by prodrive it is tuned by Subaru Technica International hence the STI. There is a slightly bigger intercooler on the sti compared to the wrx. The sti is not a tuned wrx it is a different car meaning different engine and internals.
dude wtf are u talking about, the wrx and the sti are two different cars, they might have the 2.5L engine here in the us now but they didnt from 2002 to 2006 a wrx had a 2.0L 227hp engine while the STI had a 2.5L 300hp engine. And rally cars are converted from street cars of the asain 2L version engine so if you have the money you can send your car to prodrive and have yourself a nice wrc subaru.
You can't simply send your bone stock Impreza to Prodrive and convert it into a World Rally Car even if you have a lot of money!! World Rally Cars are purposely
built to fit the FIA regulations, it has wider bodyshell and wheelbase..the gearbox is also custom built to accomodate the hydraulic gear system..and check out the exhaust of the WRC, it is located on the right side while the Impreza STi is located on the left..If you send it to Prodrive, you will just end up with a
While you are correct that a P-WRC car can be purchased you cannot purchase a WRC car. The WRC car is not a street car or conversion in any manner. FIA mandates in the homoligation rules that there must be at least 25 produciton models representing the WRC car hence we have the STI produciton model. The 2 liter sti is a far cry from the 2 liter WRC car. If you have the money you cannot buy a WRC car but P-WRC is an option.
Hey do u know if its posible to get that body kit? cuz its the only reson why i want to buy the 06 sti so i could put on the body kit like this i dont care about the specs
its a very nice car. I wonder what the price is on that. I always wanted a Subaru Impreza exactly like that! As far as the engine and cat back system, anyone know what its running?
heh..ehh...this isn't for sale, and you won't be getting very close to this if you tried. This car is worth over $50,000+ and is tuned, modified, and worked on by Prodrive for the pro WRC. It's not a matter of a few simple bolt ons and such, not that easy. There ARE many WRC duplicate/look alikes though, with the full body kit and decals, thats do-able.
I wonder what the specs are on this car, as far as mods/addons go. Whatever they were, they were good choices! sounds like cobb cat not sure about inter cooler...

lol wtf are YOU talking about, Tecksomething ? The WRX and STi are 2 different cars ... do you know anything about these cars ? I guess not.
The WRX and the STi are basically the same car with the same engine. Until 2006 that engine was a 2l one, now its a 2.5l.
The STi is a tuned version of the WRX, tuned by prodrive which is subarus tuning center. To get more horsepower they put a bigger
turbocharger and added more cooling.
BFM09 4 years ago
Theres also a button with which you can spray some water over the air intake to have a little
more power for a few seconds. Along with that, the STi has a different gearbox with 6 gears, the WRX got 5 gears. Plus, the steering
is more precise and the cahssis suspension was fine-tuned for better performance. They also modified the exhaust system. And to give
it a nice edge, its got a different bodykit.
BFM09 4 years ago
WRC stands for World Rally Car - Thats the car subaru uses for rallys and which is/was driven by Petter Solberg. Its a rally car
for christ sake, thats worth more then 200.000 bucks, you cant *buy* that. The Rally car got 300 hp too, because of regulations.
But the whole power output and torque is completely different.
BFM09 4 years ago
And Teck, rally cars are not converted from street cars, street cars are converted from rally cars. prodrive will not modify your
STi to a WRC, because prodrive is the rally section of subaru, they dont build or modify street cars. STi does that
[Subaru Tecnica international]. They might modify it if you have A LOT of fucking money which you dont have.
In the video you see the WRC.
So please Teck, think about what you wanna say before you say it ... it might be wrong ...
BFM09 4 years ago
In britain you can get prodrive modified street cars on both WRX and WRX STI. Prodrive performance packs.
