  • @tivla

I have vypyr 15, too...u should try to set XXX setting, with low-s on 4.5, mid on zero and high on maximum. Use the tube screamer setting, with parameter 1 on 2 and parameter 2 on 5-6. I found that setting much more good sounding.

    P.S. nice cover.

  • You need a metronome

  • hey man, nicely done! i see a lot of comments on you rhythym .... i think you should throw on a backing track with it. practise once or twice and you'll shut everyone up!

  • very fast...very wrong tone...not well played! sorry dude..try harder!

  • dude horrible, and dont play james' solo with wah

  • That sounds really nice!

  • Wtf.... You What so cool about James' solo? So Wah wah!!!!

  • Sorry dein lied ist viel zu hoch gestellt also die seiten die sollten auf e gestellt sein

  • wah fail, james does not use a wah, save it for the Kirk solo!

  • dude, hetfields section that you just played was a little rough, and a little bit too fast. otherwise, faairly good though =]

have a look at my videos? only rhythm for now but i think i do pretty well at that. i play exactly as hetfield does on every song. apart from when he plays insane solos like this lol

  • what setting did you put that on for your vypr 15?

  • Here, I think I used the k-stein model, but the EQ was, as people have commented, set too much on the highs. I almost exclusively use the Rectifier setting now and with more balanced EQ. The Rectifier feels thicker and smoother to me.

  • cool played.... but U must keep rythm.

  • u work in resident evil????....lol

  • U should take the guitar another way..... it doesnt see very well

  • not too bad. you had all the right notes it sounds like, just try to slow it down a little bit. you really sped through that. it's a little bit slower. other than that, great job.

  • james is playing the first part of the solo and the wah part is kirk

  • it's ok...

  • I'm no guitar expert myself, but that does in fact sound like James' style when it comes to solos. Not bad but not crazy (eg: Kirk) difficult.

  • Is Leon of the resident evil jajja

  • it's good.. but try to get a steady rithm... try again

  • umm it seems like you know the notes but you've never heard the song before

  • that was an awesome solo dude. that was really good

  • You have all the notes down, but buy a metronome. Your rhythm changes like no other multiple times and is all over the place. If this was played at a constant rhythm, it would sound a lot better. Still really good though.

  • So I've been told. I didn't expect to receive so many views, or I'd've spent more time on perfection. Thank ya, though!

  • Can you please give me a tab for the solo ? i searched everywhere on the net and i couldnt find any ._.

  • try ultimate-guitar . com, i got many tabs from there

  • 911 tabs

  • way to Kirk up a James Hetfield solo

    no wah.. please

    pretty good tho!

  • Yeah, I know. At first, I thought it DID have wah. Silly me. I used to use wah with everything, but now I'm straying from it more often. Thanks!

  • Cool. Youl ive in Texas :D

    I'm a drummer ;P

  • OMG YOUR A GUITAR GOD!!!

  • James plays the beginning of the solo, the part without any wah. Kirk's part starts when he divebombs into the really wah-y part. In guitar hero you can play either James' version, which is an extended version of the wah-less solo, or Kirk's, which is a wah-fest. The way the solo stands in the studio version of the song, it's basically half of James' solo for the beginning, and the second half of Kirk's solo for the rest. This is not completely Kirk's solo like most of the comments here say.

  • in guitar hero , more like gay hero

  • NICE! The fool comment was not aimed at you, they are talking back and forth about metallica facts. YOU ARE THE HEAVY METAL FUTURE! keep it up

  • ha shrug is funny

  • this is definitely kirk's solo. james and kirk have two different styles this is definitely kirk's

  • no man james plays the first solo with no wah pedal. the second solo is kirk hammet.

  • wow... james plays the first one. and kirk plays the second one! jeez...

    and you did alright

  • Good job. I'm pretty sure James' solo would sound better without the wah-wah, though.

  • Well said.

  • this was a hammett solo. james did the slow melody line, during the middle part, which was a more of a lead lick then a solo. btw ignore all the people who call you a fool. no, your take isn't perfect, but you have lots of potential, so give it more practice and more time, and you'll be solid. clearly, the people who call you a fool are fools themselves. good job btw!

  • Mind= blown. A little more practice and you would be able to fool people into thinking you are Kirk, or James, or whoever plays this solo :-(

  • you play awesome man !

    Really nice job :D

  • Try again, FOOL.

  • U played verry nice :) good job!

  • i think you could do the solo for this song accuratly and in time with the original tempo ...but you didnt...repost with the song backing you it would be show.

  • plz plz plz do a toural.

  • U look A LOT like Alexander Hleb, from FC Barcelona, LOL

  • What about that solo or whatever it is in the middle of the song? Like you can only hear one guitar, then the drums come in :o

  • nice. But on the second solo the first bend is a double not bend. Nice job though.

  • nice cover.. U got the same guitar as me! ^^ lol

  • Yeah James does solos. I wouldnt go by left or right channels of stereo sound to try and figure that out :). James' solos are more melodic while Kirk's are amazingly fiery.

  • neither of them are james. the style is clearly kirk and james never solos. he is the rhythm guitarist after all.

  • james does solo he made up the solo for nothing else matters and the soft middle solo of master of puppets

  • james solos in master of puppets

  • The first solo is James, the second solo that sounds like a wha wha effect is Kurt (Kurk?)

  • Yes, I had found out about the solo parts. Good song, eh? And it's Kirk!

  • Slow down man put some emotion into it, you got nice chops though

  • pretty bright tone dude... i dunno it might be ur recording method but u might need to turn down ur presence or crank up your bass a lil bit

  • ur using a peavey vypyr 15 i just got one od those i reckon they are awesome wat do u think

  • You've got decent technical skills, but learn to play in time. Don't be that band member.

  • AWESOME!

  • i think you skipped a part, but other than that it was great!

  • Not bad i guess... Next time do some video editing, like some 60's acid colors... also put your mom on the keyboards... oh and your dad should sing some progessive opera or whatever that is he does.

  • nice job but please raise your guitar down that lokks verry ... how can i say... shitty ;) but i like the playing

  • Haha.. Okay. I got a new guitar and the strap doesn't go as high, so I'll have accommodated your request in my next video. Thank you, though.

  • I have a vypyr 15 too what are your amp settings for a good metallica sound?

  • K-stein or Rectifier distortion (play with the EQ yourself) Full-gain. I use the 6505 model sometimes when playing with stuff from Lightning and KEA, sometimes MOP. Ah, the wah is definitely a Kirk thing, and he has his own Crybaby coming out soon, so look into that.

  • raise your guitar down...? thats a terribly contradictory sentence. plus, it doesnt look shitty. third, its easier to play like that

watch tom morello, he plays it high up.

  • nicely done!

  • your guitar looks a bit low, maybe you should raise it...

    Good playing btw

  • I don't know much about the guitar, but that was fucking awesome; excellent video, thanks for posting your mad guitar skills.

  • thaks!!

  • hey man, nice cover!

can you give me the presets you used?

  • Thank you, sir.

I usually use the k-stein model on bypass, with pre-gain fully employed. I have the low-end set to not quite full dial, mid-range is set to not quite half power, and high-end is set to a "dot" and a half below maximum. The k-stein sounds clearest to me. Happy playing!

  • thats rich! good job

  • nice job man

  • to fast, but good
