  • Howl's Moving Castle is awesome!

  • i watched this movie about 10 times and i still love it! i watched it in polish and english and also in japanese but i got to say that polish actors sound much better than english ones however the japanese ones are even better. awesome movie hayo 4 ever

  • Like this if you want this movie to have a sequel

  • Why bullshit?Spirit away is great!!!

  • Thanks for posting this full review on YouTube. It makes it easier for me to watch.

  • Haku not leaving with Chihiro or not leaving at all is kind of the intentional small sad sting that makes the ending so gripping. The one scene near the end where they let go of eachother's hand symbolizes this; They're never going to meet again. Haku telling Chihiro that he'll talk to Yubaba about leaving is only a ruse to make Chihiro leave with her parents. He himself can't leave, because he has nowhere else to go.

  • @CasualShinji Ummm says who? When was that ever established? They never said he had no where to go, never said it was a ruse, never said he couldn't leave, nothing was implied, explained, clarified or stated otherwise. It can be interpreted that way but I don't recall one line, scene or instance that cemented that theory.

  • @BionicSlime The reason Haku went to Yubaba was because he had nowhere else to go and she ultimately gained control over him by owning his name. That spell is broken and he knows his own name again, but he still has no place to go. He's a rivergod without a river. In the scene where they let go of eachother's hand the camera lingers on Haku's hand after Chihiro has already gone; That say it all.

  • @CasualShinji Umm he could go to the human world, he could go to another city or place. I highly doubt Yubaba's land is the only piece of civilization in their entire magical world. He's capable of living without a river, if not, he'd been dead a long time ago. You can make this guess and interpret the scene all you want, there's still nothing concrete about anything you've said being established and certainly by nothing as loose as just a mere single camera shot.

  • Nice review

  • whao whao whao, great review and everything but fail? with HOWLS MOVING CASTLE? seriously bro? that movie was sick. i really enjoyed it and so did my gf. maybe different opinions eh? haha

  • this movie really scared me as a kid. like REALLY scared :/

  • @jaehami lol me too! when yubaba flew across the room i looked at my dad and said "i think its about time you turned this off" and when my dad drove me home (my parents are divorced) my mom had the movie in her hand as a present and i was like HOLY FUCK!

  • @jaehami Same here but I still remembered it till this day even though I never watched it all the way through

  • Wanna know the best anime ever made? Its CLANNAD

  • @thehacksrule Its really good the after story is sad i wanted to cry so many times but i love this movie clannad vampire knight and special a

  • im sorry to everyone that loves this movie, but I hate it. This movie ruined my life. It not only aired on disney, but on Cartoon Network

  • @64hypershadow could you explain how that ruined your life? o.o

  • @akissy it didnt make any sense to me, so it would go to the piont as where it was pretty scary and all of the characters was just weird

  • @64hypershadow "ruined my life" is a very dramatic statement, though. ^^U How old were you when you watched it? Cause it's not for little kids...

It's basically a rite of passage from childhood to adulthood, at the end you see how Chihiro has evolved from a whinny, scrawny little baby to a wiser, stronger young girl. Everything she did through the movie made her grow and mature. Of course it's scary, it's an analogy of real life. ^^ It also has some ecologist topics. ^^

  • @akissy I was a child actually, so yeah. Thats basically it. thanks for summing it up.

  • @64hypershadow Try watching it again now. ^^ I bet you'll understand it more. ^^

  • @akissy ok thanks

  • @64hypershadow How the hell does airing a movie on disney or cartoon network ruin someones life? Sorry, but that's probably one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard. Even if you were scared, it's really unfair to say that this movie's bad just because you think the characters are "weird".

  • @flyablekokoro123 you didnt read the rest of the comments, people that jump to conclusions dont think it through you should read akissys comments to me, you will understand why I am going to think the movie through again

  • @64hypershadow I actually did read the rest of the comments. But taking it to that extent just seemed kind of ridiculous to me, and you didn't even bother finishing the movie. But if you changed your opinion about it and plan to rewatch it, then that's fine.

  • @flyablekokoro123 actually I did finish the movie, cant remember the ending, I think it turned out to e a dream, and It would make more sense, because most of the time, if you whatch something for the first time and you dont know what its about, you go against it, like(this is an example) when a new sonic game is revealed, after 06 peple didnt think the games would get better, and then generations, which was ALOT bette3r than sonic 06

  • @64hypershadow welllll actually it wasn't a dream chihiro had it all happened.

  • This is actually one of Miyazaki's more heart-warming films. Some character designs are a bit creepy, but very intricate and detailed. Hisaishi's music is amazing(One Summer's Day can move me to tears). Definitely one of the most imaginative films I've ever seen(Miyazaki's always are). It isn't told in a typical hollywood fashion though. It's a simple tale of a young girl thrust into a different world, finding love, and maturing. But it has some complex elements and themes to it.

  • the movies was originally going to be 3 hours long i wish that they had the extra hour

  • Can you please review My Neighbor Totoro? I love that movie!

  • love your reviews.... please do nausicaa of the valley of the wind it is a hayao miyazaki film so you pretty know what to expect...

  • I agree with you, the movie is amazing, but I also wish Chihiro and Haku had ended up leaving the world together :)

  • sounds like a good movie

  • its a abandon theme park.its a unique movie different style to what im use to,i like it enough though.although at times it got weird

  • Can you do Inuyasha??

  • Man, I've really wished that eventually that Boh really needed to Stop Crying and Whining and Get a Grip! >:(

  • EPIC MOVIE!!!!!!

  • Not to mention that In My Opinion, The Giant Baby Boy named, Boh, He personally drives me insane So Much that He throws a fit when Chiho was trying to get away from him, so, To me that was like WAY TOO WHINY and Dramatic!!! >:(

  • Bionic Slime and here I thought the BS meant bull shit.

  • I'm a massive fan of 'The Shield' I haven't seen Spirited Away for years now but hearing Michael Chiklis was in it just blew my mind.

  • Review Porco Rosso Next please!!!!

  • BEST ANIME MOVIE EVARR!

  • I agree with you on the relationship between Chihiro and Haku. They don't really have a resolve, so I decided to write my own sequel to resolve it. Miyazaki might have done this on purpose to make the audience wonder if the promise they make will actually be kept. Either way, these two have the most charming childhood romance in any film (in my opinion). Wonderful review of my favorite animated film.

  • Oh yeah, Chihiro and Haku should have at least kissed or something! It really bothered me too, since I really think Haku should have had a happy ending too!

  • @jazzykid1

would have been a good ending but then again chihiro is only 10 and haku is a however old river spirit

  • I LOVE this film :) its my all time favorite

  • I was wondering if anybody could answer question. I have watched spirited away in english, but i was thinking whether it sounds better in japanese

  • @TheGamerAdz I will agree with on that. Haku + Japanese voice = Sexy! X3

  • Oh, and have you heard that in Japan they are suppose to be making another Spirited Away 2, they're writing the script play and its suppose to be out to American in 2012/2013, or so my source told me

  • @HakusSpiritMaiden I've been looking all over the Internet to try and confirm this, but have had no success. Not to impose, but what is your source for this information? I can't find anything to confirm the sequel...and I want to see something SOOOOO bad to confirm it! BTW, love your DeviantART page. You're a great artist. ^_^

  • @VanitasxAura My godfather has friends who live in Japan, and he said they told him they were writing the script, like I said before. My godfather knows many people, so even though there's no physical proof, I believe him. I know!!! I want to too!!! All of Miyazaki's other films, even Kiki and Mononoke, ended well. Spirited Away left us a cliff hanger and I was happy about it at all!!!

Oh well, thank you very much! It is a pleasure to find people who like my characters!

    Who are you on there?

  • @HakusSpiritMaiden Damn, that's awesome! To have a source direct from Japan is a do-not-argue-with-it in my book. As for DeviantART, I actually don't have an account, but am thinking about getting one. Thanks for the reply. Until the official sequel comes out, I'll have to settle with finishing my own.

  • @VanitasxAura I will agree with you on that :) Oh really, then how have you seen my work?

It was my pleasure! When you finish, send me the link! I wanna watch it!

  • @HakusSpiritMaiden I go on DeviantART every day and look at artwork. I found your page and looked at the artwork a little and loved it. I'm still writing my sequel, but I made a trailer for it. You can find it on my channel. I think that it's going to be a good story and worthy sequel to Miyazaki's film.

  • @VanitasxAura Well thank you very much :) I like it when others like my work. Ill go check your page to see if its up. If not, when its done, leave a link on my page, either DA or here :D Nice to chat with a fellow fan, and I hope you have a wonderful evening(or morning, whatever)

  • @HakusSpiritMaiden Thanks! I got a DeviantART account yesterday after I got home from college. Look for NekalIbea (lowercase l, uppercase i). I have only one deviation on there so far. Since next week's my spring break, I'll probably add promotional art for my sequel. I plan on putting my sequel on DeviantART, all 15 chapters that I pre-planned months ago. Hopefully I can do that during my break.

  • @HakusSpiritMaiden really? that is awesome i saw this when it first came out and didnt understand it at all then watched it today most beutiful thing ever

  • I'm so glad you did this! This is my favorite film of Hayao Miyazaki's :D I may have seen Kiki's Delivery service first of all, but Spirited Away will always be my favorite. For two reasons. One, because of Miyazaki's work. And two, because of Haku :) I fell for him and i'm glad about how to you talked about him in this.(though i think you could have talked about him a little bit more like you did for the other characters)

    Jason Marsden is amazing

  • Bull shit reviews?

  • @TheGoldenNostril BS stands for Bionic Slime, its my user name's initials and yes I realize that they have the same initials.

  • @BionicSlime Reminds me of trotters independent traders, or tit for short XD

  • @TheGoldenNostril

    LOLOLROFLBBQ!

  • can you do ponyo ? please

  • @sk8erboixxx I already reviewed Ponyo a long while ago. I reviewed it not too long after it came out in theaters.

  • I agree,the film was a masterpeace.

But to personally to me, Kiki's delivery service, will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • Seriously, I can't decide if Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke is the best Miyazaki film, this guy is the fucking Walt Disney of today (ironic that the company is distributing his movies). I honestly saw this as a loose version of The Wizard of Oz more than Alice in Wonderland, sure the world is not as "happy" as Oz, but Chihiro's journey pretty much mirrors Dorothy's, where she becomes a stronger character through her journey (Yubaba/Zeniba=wicked witch of the west/good witch of the north).

  • Comment removed

  • @gamefan991 BHAAAWH! Never call him the Walt Disney of today! He doesn't want that!

  • @gamefan991 Yea definitely. Hayao Miyazaki is the Walt Disney of the east and well..pretty much today. I dunno about you but I kinda felt the movie was more like Alice in wonderland.

  • Lol, when I was little this movie used to scare the crap out of me xD

  • "Supermarket world" LOL

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen. Some scary scenes here and there, but it's a masterpiece nonetheless.

  • yubaba's my fav character.

  • lol, i thought BS meant bull shit. i thought you were gonna hate on it. just wanted to see your reasonings.

  • did you do Howls Moving Castle??

if not, can you. i subbed

  • dude can you do a review on akria?

  • @KDOGTHEGAMER14 Yes, someone's already requested I review that so it won't be a problem.

  • @BionicSlime can you do a review for durarara. its an awesome show and wanna hear what you think

  • i was watching tis with my lil sis, everything seemed to be perfectly normal, she was liking it,but as soon as chihiro's parents transformed into pigs she freaked out jus like chihiro, it was funny.

  • I love your reviews. You've very down to earth with all of the things you say, and I like that you have an intellectual review-level.

On another note, Spirited Away could be my favorite MOVIE, not just Anime, of all time. Hard to explain, but almost -- very easily so. Evangelion 1.0, and 2.2 have come close, but it's still shaky.

  • this movie will freak you out if your not used to it.

  • Miyazaki is a fracking genius :D

  • Nice!

  • :) one of my favorite movie eve. :) bought the box set with this and 3 other movies by hayao miyazaki

  • Just finished watching it and it's a damn good movie...hope to watch princess mononoke soon

  • I never watch anime, but I listen to your reviews anyway.

  • Well thanks, nice to know people enjoy my reviews even if they don't always watch what I am reviewing. Much appreciated!

  • What a movie. Princess Mononoke is my favorite of Miyazaki's, but this is an insanely close second.

  • This movie is a classic :). Miyazaki's movie are something... really, a work of art! Keep up the good reviews :)

  • Like the Movie and love the review although i never quite "loved" this movie like i did with Princess Mononoke maybe its the more hard edge feel or he epic grand scale adventure idk

  • This is an enchanting anime. I would like to review it again but Studio Ghibli suspended my old youtube account so, no.

  • This is such a great movie, definitely my favorite of Miyazaki's work. Great review, man!
