  • Hi! can i use Calamansi juice ( native citrus fruit in the philippines ) as a substitute to lemon? Calamansi is much more cheaper here than lemon... Thank you =)

  • @mallleakoat I'm not familiar with Calamansi juice, so I can't tell you if it will work for sure. If it is acidic it might work as a substitute. Definitely give it a try if this is a cheaper alternative.

  • Hey I have dat white cutting board too..I will so try his

  • @lovelymom559 Cool : ) Let me know if you need have any questions.

  • I just made a batch and it works so nicely! But now I still have a lot left over. How do I store the remains for future use? I've thought about placing it in the fridge... but I'm afraid that would make it become really hard. And how long can I keep this sugaring batch before it expires? PLEASE REPLY ASAP!! Thank you!

  • @OanhyBananny Just put your leftover in an airtight container and it will last until you use it up. There's no need to put it in the fridge. You can store it at room temperature to keep it from becoming too hard to use. The lemon juice helps keep it preserved, so it will last for months.

  • Do you use an equivalent quantity of vinegar in place of lemon juice? I read somewhere before that in cooking you should use half as much vinegar as a substitute for lemon juice, but I'm unsure if that is for taste or chemistry. Also, do you happen to know what the purpose of the acid is in sugaring? I'm very curious about all of this.

  • @Valic1983 I rarely do the recipe with vinegar, but I've always used the same amount as with the lemon juice. So, I can't tell you for sure the purpose for the altered amount. I use an acid in the recipe to prevent it from crystallizing and turning into a hard candy so fast. If you try the recipe you found with the half measurement of vinegar let me know how it works for you.

  • @lilikoilooks I didn't know acids had that sort of effect on sugars... Maybe I should've been paying more attention in chemistry. :)

  • @Valic1983 Lol : ) Same here. I didn't realize that either until I started making sugar paste. Who knows what else we missed in chemistry : )

  • @lilikoilooks It seemed to work at first, then it became painfully clear that I should probably have added an equal portion of water for the vinegar I omitted. Sadly, I discovered after removing a third of my facial hair that the gel was becoming increasingly difficult to separate from the bowl I had poured it in. I'll probably just use the recommended amount of vinegar next time. Now to finish tweezing the better half of what once was my beard. :(

  • @Valic1983 Oh no! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I guess that answers the question though. Thanks for letting me know how it worked with the half measurement.

  • You look just like my sister! im not even lying, when I first saw you I thought you were her :0

  • @IsDaColeTrain Cool! I have a twin out there somewhere : )

  • for cup do you intend a big cup(normal used for milk for exemple) or a smaller one that we use for coffee? thanks

  • @AmicadelleRose I mean a cup as in a standard measuring cup.

  • I was just wondering how long the sugar wax generally lasts before going rancid. Also how can you tell when it has gone rancid.

  • @charmcandleco It will last for up to a year without going rancid if it doesn't become contaminated. Keep it in an airtight container and never double dip to prevent contamination. It would probably begin to have a weird smell and discolor if it goes bad. I've never had a batch go rancid yet though.

  • Hi, thank! But I have a problem, .. I can´t see Part 2 :-( what can I do now?

I´ve got a problem, my sugar has become DARKER than yours and I think it´s to hard. Don´t know how to use it :-( Please heeelp :)

  • @Nani160808 If it is darker than my finished product in the video you probably overcooked it. Unfortunately, there's no way to save an overcooked batch. You'll have to start over from scratch. Next tim cook it on a lower heat and be sure to use all of the tests I show to know exactly whn it is rady. I sent the link to part 2 to your inbox.

  • I think it went fine, but small parts of it hardened. Don't know if I overcooked or what, but it's cooling so let's see:p

  • @imonlyme9 Hmmm, I've never had just parts of it harden. Were you able to use it after it cooled?

  • Making it right now:D so exited. Was just this recipe at a salon, but had forgotten all about it. Thnx:)

  • @imonlyme9 Oh cool. Let me know if you need any help.

  • does this help reduce facial hair???

  • @yadanalin With continued use the hairs will grow back thinner and sparser after a period of time.

  • Thanks for posting your vids! I will try this tonight, and if it doesn't work, i'll just eat it! lol :)

  • @SuperKickinchicken Lol. You're welcome. You've got the right idea. The worst outcome with this recipe is a sweet treat. Thanks for watching : )

  • so i tried this for the first time today and it turned out as hard candy i don't want to waste anymore sugar is there anyway i can possibly revive this so i can use this?

  • @ccloveskeys Unfortunately, no. You have to start from scratch if it cooked into a hard candy. You can purchase ready-made sugar paste from some stores.

  • I made it but it ended up really hard :/

  • @leztiable You just overcooked it. Make sure you use the all of the techniques I demo in the video to know when it is ready.

  • Has anyone tried dis dos it really work comment back plz!

  • @leztiable It really works. Let me know if you need help with it.

  • @leztiable Tried it :) it does work - bit hard to use at first but it's awesome when you get the hang of it

  • I have a femstache and I look like am about to get a unibrow will this help?

  • @ATLSwagPrincess This is an easy way to remove facial hair without irritating the skin. The results are long lasting too.

  • can i use regular lemon juice?

  • @blofton55 Yes, regular lemon juice will work the same.

  • I have a question, I have really course hair and even thicker and more course in my bikini area, is this still okay to use? Also how long does the wax last? As long as the regular honey waxing? (my waxes last 6-8 weeks or so)

  • @MissStorm7 Sugaring works well on all hair textures. You can definitely use it for your bikini area. The results are similar to waxing. It typically takes the hairs about 4-6 weeks before they grow back.

  • Doesnt surprise me they used sugar. Their civilization was well known for having diabetes bc of the tremendous beer consumption and bread they consumed. Of course sugar had to be in their diet. Great video though...

  • 1. can you use something else other than a glass jar to store it in?

    2. can you roll the wax over your private areas or do you recommend strips and pulling?

    thanks in advance!

  • @kissesfromblake You can store it in any heat resistant container with an air-tight seal. I recommend a glass jar because plastic containers can release toxic fumes into the sugar paste when it is hot. You can use the rolling method on your private areas. It works well for bikinis.

  • THIS WAS SO HELPFUL :) can you do this on your bikini area?

  • @iLOVEJUICYALWAYSSS Yes, it works very well for the bikini area.

  • if ur gonna use vinegar should u also use 1/4 cup???

  • @288shanice Yes, use 1/4 cup. It's best to use apple cider vinegar and not just plain vinegar though.

  • So interesting... I can't wait to try in the morning!

  • @butimnotarapper2014 Let me know if you need any help. Thanks for watching : )

  • @lilikoilooks i have tried.... but again failed. Im bad at looking for color changes. Can you give me steps to make this according to exact timing... I have tried 4 times and all are failed. When i try to stretch before using it the color changes but it sticks all over my finger and i cant even apply it anywhere as most of it sticks onto my fingers. I dont have the thermometer so i dont know when to stop just by relying on the color changes. HELP... I really want this to worrrkk... thanks

  • @Sheeks11 There are many factors that can affest how the recipe turns out like humidity, altitude, or the type of stove. You may have to tweak the cooking time according to how you see your sugar paste cooking. If it is still to sticky after 20 minutes or so you just need to cook it a few minutes longer. If it is changing into hard candy after 20 minutes you need to cook it for less time. Just watch it closely as it cooks and determine the cooking time after you do the tests.

  • i noticed that you're using the same stove and pot as i am which is not the same as the previous videos that I watched so I guess that's what was wrong with my first two attempts. now, I did it exactly like how you did it except that I took it off when it hit 240 degrees and it is perfect! it worked wonderfully even when i reheated it in a pot with water on a stove. This is soooo awesome! Thank you. :)

  • @mikikay70 I'm glad it finally came out right for you. It just takes a little patience : )

  • Thank you very much! :) im gonna try this tomorrow! Sorry if i thumb down on your reply. Cause my computer is laggy and it selected thumb down rather than thumb up! Gonna change tat tomorrow with my other computer..:) i can see u are really kind! Hope this works 100% better then those wax which i bought..

  • @MinjunJiyoung Lol. No worries. I've made the same mistake before too when my computer was being temperamental. Let me know how the recipe works for you.

  • @lilikoilooks omg it works really well.. passed on the first try:)thx!!

  • @MinjunJiyoung You're welcome : )

  • Do you know whats the weight or gram for the 1/4 cup? I have no measuring cups at home..

  • @MinjunJiyoung The conversion to grams is 2 cups (400 grams) sugar, 1/4 cup (50 grams) water, 1/4 cup (50 grams) lemon juice. Let me know if you need more help. Take care : )

  • good job on your video. i find it very detailed and you gave very clear, easy to follow instructions. i used a similar recipe twice before but it seems i very slightly overcooked it. mine would have the same exact color as yours but the consistency is only perfect when its still too hot to use. once it cools down to what is usable, it becomes like very soft candy and doesnt stick anymore. any ideas where i went wrong?

  • @mikikay70 If you're using the exact ingredients and measurements the inconsistency might be your stove. Try cooking it at a lower temperature next time. This will help prevent you from overcooking it. Be sure to use all the methods I show to test if it's ready. Hope this helps. That's the best advice I can give since I can't actually see what's happening when you're making it.

  • heee, I just wanted to share with all of you that tonight I got the sugaring mixture right and I tried it on my leg, it felt good removing the hair with this natural product. Yupiii! Oh, I am leaving it until tomorrow just to see how my skin is going to react, if everything's good that sugaring is on schedule tomorrow :) Oh and likiloilooks thanks a lot for the extra instructions.Could you maybe just give an advice how to apply the wax only with the hand? :) THank you thank you thank you :)

  • @Pavarsija Yay! I'm glad the sugar recipe worked for you. It really does make your skin super soft. To use the rolling technique just form sugar paste into a falt patty. Appy it to the skin and remove it in a quick flicking motion. Just like I show in part 2 of the tutorial.

  • @lilikoilooks i like you video. Good job. I have tried making my own but seems i never got it right. Is there any other steps that i can follow according to time. I think im bad at looking at color change. :( i followed every step u showed except that i dont have a thermometer to check the temp. I tried the test with the spoon but could not get the exact texture. The one i get is always sticky and little bit brittle. I need ur help where i have done wrong. I dont want to waste the sugar.

  • @Sheeks11 It sounds like your sugar is slightly overcooked. The difference might be with your stove. Next time cook your sugar over a lower heat setting. It might take a little longer for it to cook but it will help prevent you from overcooking it. Let me know how this works for you.

  • is it hard to wash the pot after cooking it?

  • @Samburger13 Not at all. The sugar mixture dissolves and rinses away very easily.

  • if you half all of the ingredients will this change the cooking time? or do you just recommend making the bigger batch? thanks for your help i love your video

  • @sugaberri Cutting the ingredients in half will change the cooking time. I've never done it before so I couldn't tell you what the cooking time would be. The recipe in the video yields about 16oz of product. It won't go bad unless it gets contaminated. So if you make the whole recipe you'd have sugar paste that you could store and have for future uses.

  • what is the brand name of the peanut butter that u used on the video? sorry for asking too much questions :)..it's hard for me to find a glass of peanut butter because where i live they just have plastic container with the peanut butter in it....

  • @TheLadystar89 I don't remember the brand I had back when I made this video. But right now I have a jar of Smuckers Natural peanut butter which is in a glass container. It was in the peanut butter section of my grocery store. If your grocery store doesn't carry it, you can find peanut butter in glass containers at your local health food store.

  • @BigMessInPinkHeels Lol. Yes, it's safe to use "down there". It is more gentle on the skin than waxing.

  • @BigMessInPinkHeels It typically lasts for about 3-5 weeks. This, of course, varies depending on how fast your hair grows.

  • Hi lilikoi =)

I fell in love with your video...you are so detail about the sugaring removal..but i have question I was wondering where did u get the airtight container the one your using on the video..i'm having a problem in finding one...please can you let me know where did u get it or where can u refer me in finding the airtight container?..if so please the name of the brand or product? Thanxs...i hope to hear from you soon..

  • @TheLadystar89 In the video, I used an old peanut butter jar that I cleaned out and saved to store it in. You can find similar containers at The Container Store but if you don't mind spending the extra money. Just make sure you use a glass container. Plastic containers will transfer chemical by-products into the sugar paste. Thanks for watching my video : )

  • if i want to sugar my underarms, how exactly do i remove it ?? Also can someone please tell me how to get rid of dark underarms without bleach ?? Natural remedy please :) thanks :)

  • @lollipopstarable To sugar your underarms you will need someone to help you. Use the same method that I show on my arm in part 2 of the video. You will have to pull the skin on your underarm taut while someone else removes the wax strip for you. Sugaring will help with dark underarms because it will exfoliate the top layer of the skin. You can also use lemon juice to lighten the skin. These remedies take time to work so you have to stick with it for a while to see results. Hope this helps : )

  • @lilikoilooks thanks for your help :) So just to ask when do i apply the lemon juice ? Do i apply it after showering and leave it on for a few mins and wash off ? Or let it absorb ? Or how does it work ? So sorry for asking so many questions :P its just cuz you are very helpful and reliable :)

  • @lollipopstarable You're welcome : ) You can put lemon juice on a cotton ball and rub it on your underarm area after you shower each day. You may start seeing results after about a month of doing it daily.

  • @lollipopstarable You can use the juice of either a cucumber or tomato instead of lemon. They all have natural skin lightening properties. It also helps to switch to a natural deodorant that doesn't contain antiperspirant. Antiperspirant are harsh on the skin and can cause dark underarms.

  • and do you roll of on the vagina or use wax strips? Which gives a smooth finish and better results? Thankyou for all your replies and great site xx :)

  • @DanicaOfficialx The wax strips work best. The rolling method is effective if you're just trying to clean up stray hairs. Ask me as many questions as you need to. I'm happy to help. Take care : )

  • @lilikoilooks thank you!! =)

  • quick question: is it best to use a glass jar? or are we able to use different types?

  • @SMILESxSMILES It is best to use a glass jar because it is more sterile. Fumes and chemical residues from plastic containers can contaminate your sugar paste.

  • oo and i forgot to ask is it safe for vaginal hair? :) thankyou

  • @DanicaOfficialx It is safe for the vaginal area. The sugar paste is much gentler on the skin than regular wax.

  • can we use 2 cups of honey instead of sugar? Will it still be as effective?

  • @DanicaOfficialx This recipe works with sugar. I've never tried it with honey so I'm not sure if you'd get the same results.

  • @DanicaOfficialx I think u have to use sugar as the small sugar pieces stick to your hairs. It might not work with honey i think.

  • am i able to use organic raw sugar?

  • @samoasian219 Yes, organic raw sugar will work for the recipe.

  • You're welcome. Aww, thanks for the compliment. I'm actually from Hawai'i.

  • great video, sooooo much more detailed than others posted on youtube! that helps alt! im going to try this recipe instead, the other wasnt working.

  • @MiaDupard91 Let me know if you ever have any questions about the recipe. Thanks for watching : )

  • This video helped a whole ton nd i used it nd the hair still didnt grow back but even tho i didnt grow back yet and u cant visibly see anything on my legs i can feel little hair stubs growing is that normals or did the wax maybe miss some hairs?? How can i make the sugar wax work better??? Ps. I dont use lemons ur any type of fruit i use vinegar which works fine but does it affect the way it works cuz i use it for leg waxing

  • @flyingtacos101 I'm so glad to hear that it worked for you. The sugar may not have removed hairs that were in an early growth stage. So, you would see these hairs popping up shortly after sugaring. The sugar paste will grab hair that are in a later growth stage. Sugaring is gentle enough on the skin if you want to do another session just to get the hairs that are now growing out.

  • I love this video. the other ones i've watched said to put it in the microwave or didn't really fully explain everything! thank you so much! if i did what the other videos said i would of burnt the sugar wax..haha

  • @samoasian219 You're welcome. I'm so glad you found it helpful. Let me know if you ever have any questions about sugaring. Take care : )

  • @lilikoilooks

    Thanks!

It was one awesome day with my mom and my sister we were ripping hair from our eyes, noses, arm pits,

fingers, and above our lips. It was a blast! Thanks!

  • @Ladyoftheladys That's so cool that you all sugared together. Sounds like fun. Take care : )

  • I made it and it was gummy and it looked really brown(maybe too brown) but not brittle but it wouldnt work. It felt like hard gum and just wouldnt grab the hairs! what did i do wrong? :(

  • @xdatgrlx I think your problem may have been your skin. Be sure to prep your skin before sugaring. It should be completely clean of lotions and oils. Lightly dust your skin with cornstarch or powder beforehand to absorb excess moisture on the skin. The sugar paste will stick to the hair if you do this. Let me know if you need more help.

  • Do you wax your bikini are using this technique? if so would u recommend to do it your self ? can u wax all your pubic hair?

  • @faithfuldame This tchnique works very well for a bikini because it is gentle. You can do a bikini yourself very easily. You can do a full brazilian too with it. But I would recommend having a professional do the brazilian.

  • Can u use vinegaer instead of lemon juice

  • @flyingtacos101 It works best with lemon or lime juice, but you can use vinegar. The color may be a little lighter than with the lemon juice.

  • LOVE IT ! i'm gonna do it tomorrow , thank you so so much ! this and the second are the best videos of suraring wax ever here in youtube . love from chile

  • @xomiyp Thanks. Let me know if you ever have any questions about sugaring : )

  • Thanks for posting this great tutorial, its really cool :)

Although at 1:15 - if I put 2c in there's nowhere near as much sugar as shown in the video (round 5-6c for me) so would you happen to be making a bigger batch or is it a cup size problem? It seems the 1c cup you use is a lot bigger than my 1c so was wondering if there's like a difference in measuring cups?

  • @AlphaofDdark That is the exact recipe that I filmed for the tutorial. I used 2 cups of sugar, 1/4 cup water, and 1/4 cup lemon juice. I used some standard measuring cups from walmart. You'll see how much you end up with when you try the recipe. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • How long does the wax last :o ?

can you keep on using it or no ?

  • @Indiragee The sugar paste will last indefinitely. If you store it in an airtight container and avoid contaminating it, it will last until you use it up.

  • How long does the wax last :o ?

is it just for one day or can you keep on using it ?

  • Great tutorial! I wonder if you use less water or omit it, would it take less time to cook to the right consistency?

  • @HopeUnquenchable Thanks. You definitely want to use the water. It helps keep the paste pliable. Although I've never tried to do it without water. Let me know how it works for you if you try it that way. Appreciate you watching my tutorial : )

  • I watched your video many times, the first time it was great. Yesterday I doubled the recepe and today it still was soft and to light. I cooked it again but I guess its still not good, it's very dark and it sticks Amazing....

  • @AssiieJj That has happened to me before too. So far, I've never been able to salvage a batch that didn't turn out right. I just start over from scratch. Thanks for watching the tutorial : )

  • you are so pretty! Are you Egyptian?

  • @cakeonaplate Aww, thanks. That's so kind of you. I'm not Egyptian. I'm actually from Hawaii.

  • excuse me can you do a video of sugar wax using vinegar instead of lemon

  • @capala1234 There's really no need to refilm the video because the tutorial would be exactly the same. You don't have to do anything different other than using vinegar instead of lemon juice. Let me know if you have some specific questions about the recipe. Thanks : )

  • @capala1234 Just from personal experience, use a citrus fruit. I tried using vinegar (since I always have it around) and every batch I made burned really quickly and didn't work as well. Some batches didn't work at all. Also, it smelled funny and you couldn't eat the leftovers in the pan. I just buy lemon juice in a bottle and it works great. It's not as handy to have around, but it does work much better. At least for me.

  • @sjs012055 Thanks for the info. I've only tried it with the vinegar once and I prefer the lemon juice too. Appreciate you watching my video.

  • thank u , will try :)

  • Now wax is easy for me to make at home

  • @Livelonglife1 I'm so glad it worked for you. Let me know if you ever have any questions about sugaring. Take care : )

  • Ms toi I love you you solved my problem

  • Thanks:)

  • How many grams is 2 cups?

  • @temsaman33 approximately 402 grams

  • hi , mine looked honey colour ,but the result beome to hard , what did i do wrong ? thank u

  • @Aleflower100 Sounds like you may have overcooked it slightly. Use all of the methods shown in the video (temperature test and cold-water test) to know exactly when it is ready.

  • Greeting from Norway, how many grams is 2 cup?? And 1/4 cups??

  • @temsaman33 Hi there. 2 cups = 402 grams approximately and 1/4 cup = 55 grams approximately.

  • Greetings from Norway, how many grams is cups???

  • compared to commercial chemical stuff, how good is this sugar wax? Could anyone rate it like a 1 to 5 or like... 70%, 80% etc?

  • which kind of cup?

  • @8ZIY Use any glass container with an airtight lid. I used an empty peanut butter jar in this video.

  • i tried it its ammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmazing wax very natural n makes my body taste sweat lol :):):):)

  • @gloomyqueenhero19 You're silly : ) Glad the recipe worked well for you. Thanks for watching.

  • @lilikoilooks am not but i swear it makes my body taste sweat.......

  • @gloomyqueenhero19 I guess you can consider it an added bonus : )

  • hi they use this recipe in jordan too! it works good for legs and anywhere else where u may want to remove your unwanted hair, and it's much more natural than chemically made waxes...

  • @Moondance121 Thanks for the info : )

  • today i´ve made wax with your recipe the first time... it was the same like in your video.... i wanted to ask, can i put the wax into my refrigerator? to let it cool dawn faster? and can i use one portion for a couple of times... i ve made to much and there will be a rest when i finish sugering today! So i wanted to know if i could use the rest the next time?

  • @NewClassicPYT You can put it in the fridge for a few minutes just after cooking it to help it cool faster. But don't keep it stored in the fridge. You want to keep it stored at room temperature. If you have to keep reheating it before each use, you risk overcooking it and ruining your batch. The recipe will last you for several sessions. It will last until you use it up and you don’t have to use it all at once. It will stay fresh for months as long as you don’t contaminate it. Take care : )

  • Please can I know what candy thermometer brand do you use?

  • @mariam191991 I bought my candy thermometer from Williams Sonama. They sell a good quality thermometer. Other good brands are Taylor Elite candy thermometer and CDN Digital Candy thermometer.

  • Your tutorials are absolutely great! My first experiment with this was awful. I boiled the mixture until it was dark brown and when I placed it in the jar it turned to a brick. The second time, I viewed your video again and I realized that after I brought it to a boil I needed to turn the fire down from 5 to 3 for about 10-12 mins. After that it came out great. Also, I used apple cider vinegar and it came out to be a shade darker than vegetable or cooking oil. Thank you lilikoilooks!

  • @TimeNeverReallyEnds I'm so glad it worked for you. The coloring is different with the apple cider vinegar. You'll love the results on your skin though. Thanks for trying the recipe. Take care : )

  • thx u

  • @bloomery100 You're welcome : )

  • this is practical and easy to make.

you also taught us how to well preserve it so we don't have to make a batch each time we would like to remove hair.

    awesome video :D

  • @itsMacyD Glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for the feedback. Take care : )

  • Can we just take orange juice from the fridge? Or do we have to squeeze the juice out of the orange?

  • @laladidi00 Its best to squeeze fresh juice from the orange. Store bought orange juice may contain preservatives and other ingredients that may alter the recipe.

  • you sound very smart imma try it !!!

    lol

  • @coach7xx Aww, thanks. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching : )

  • Is there anything else I could use apart from lemon juice, I mean anyTHING?

  • @VeRoNiCaAnThOnY97 you can use a lime, orange, or vinegar

  • Need Helpp , i Read Another Article & It Saidd Not To Use Lime . So Is It Okay To Use Or Not ?

  • @OhSnapItsMeAndHer I've never heard of a reason not to use lime in the recipe. I've made it with lime and it came out fine. Use one of the other alternatives from the video if you prefer.

  • Nice Video!

My wax is very soft. What can i do? Should I add less lemon juice?

I'm pretty sure i boiled it long enough, i've tried it three times now.

Do you necessarily need to cool it down in a closed jar?

  • @0162Schatje If it's too soft you may need to let it cook a bit longer. Use the different tests from the video to know when it is ready. You don’t need to add less lemon juice, this will change the cooking time for the recipe. Let me know how it comes out for you next time. Thanks for watching : )

  • @0162Schatje You don’t have to let it cool in a closed jar. It just keeps it sanitary if you want to store it.

  • my mixture was over cooked an turned hard, can i still use it by reheating it. also when i made it i was way too hot to put on the skin :/

  • @love4music143 If you overcooked it you'll have to start over with a new batch. Let it cool for about an hour after you make before you use it. It shouldn't be like hot wax. Be careful : )
