@RastaChaka You know, i've never been able to find out what Hulet means either! I'd say my favourite Aswad album is Showcase. It has a exteneded mix of Back To Africa, and then great tracks like Three Babylon, It's Not Our Wish and Warrior Charge. Not Guilty is probably my next favourite, then Hulet, then Aswad. I also like Rise And Shine from the nineties even though it's not in the same class as their early albums.
@AfricansArise ah nice to know :) for me best aswad album in other 1.hulet 2.showcase 3.aswad 4.new chapter/live and direct 5.rebel souls/not satisfied 6.the rest of theier albums :) and what about steel pulse ? :D one love
@RastaChaka Oh yeah, i forgot about Live and Direct. As for Steel Pulse, my favourite albums are Handsworth Revolution, Tribute To the Martyrs and True Democracy. But i haven't listened to many of their later albums. I remember hearing a song from a couple years ago called Weapons of Mass Destruction (or something like that) which I liked.
Definitely. I reckon that Hulet and New Chapter (which has African Children and Love Fire on it) are the two best albums that Aswad produced. Showcase is pretty good too (it's got Three Babylon and It's Not Our Wish on it).
"Back To Africa" album? Do you mean the first album Aswad? Yeah, that's a good one too. Actually, their first five or six albums were all good (though I wasn't all that impressed with No Satisfied).
It's only when you get to the mid eighties that they started to lose it - like almost all other reggae artists. The mid eighties to early nineties was a dark era for roots reggae.
Yeah my bad, I thought that was the name of the album.
'A dark era' hahaha...sounds like something from a horror film. No, I agree; it all got so cheesy around that period. I bought Steel Pulse's 'Victims' album and I was really dissapointed (although it has a few descent songs). I don't think Victims is on youtube,,,,might upload it just for the fun of it.
Yep. They got all that new techology and got all over-excited. I've found that there's a science to buying reggae. The best way to check if a reggae album might be any good is to look at when it was made. If it was made between 1984 and about 1993, then it is most likely going to be kack.
check my channel i've got the songs Three Babylon,Rainbow Culture,Babylon,It's Not Our Wish and Warrior Charge but not Back To Africa [12''Version]. For me is Aswad,Hulet,Showcase,New Chapter,Rebel Souls,Distant Thunder and Too Wicked aswad's best albums

Ah cool, I'll bear that in mind. I'm looking to get Back to Africa off Amazon. I've really enjoyed what I've heard of that album so far.
