  • oh fuck this camera awesome.

  • awesome camera!!

can it auto focus on its own?

  • is macro the type of camera or is that just a term for close up?

  • Does this camera have manual focusing dial?

  • That shot of the snail is really impressive.

I am planning a world tour and I need a great video camera for the trip: anyone have any experience with this one? How durable is it?

  • amazing!!

  • what is macro?????????????

  • @DesertSmeagle mac·ro

    [mak-roh]

    –adjective

    1. very large in scale, scope, or capabilities.

    Dictionary term

  • damn nature you scurry.

  • I have canon hg10. it can record macro upto . 0.5cm..i think all canon hd camcorders can record macro..

  • How do you put the camera into macro?

  • lucky lucky

  • Hello, Great shots. I was wondering if this cannon cam needed a SD card to store memory? how does it store memory?

  • I was deciding between buying this camera or a Sony one and I ended up getting the Sony HDR-XR500V for $860 (about the same price as this one).

The 120 GB hard drive instead of a 32 GB card is what made me pick that one. I tried it and the macro is great. It can focus on things less than 1 cm away from the lens and it also records at 120 fps if you want to make slow motion videos.

  • my friend, when you export for the web, what settings do you use. i use quicktime conversion h264 but i'm not sure i have the frame rate and bit rate correctly, could you please share your export settings. thanks, eternally grateful.

  • thats a cool macro video im going to get the camera in a week time cnt wait!!!

  • Beautiful macro video! Isn't nature awesome!

  • Now that's what I call amazing, you can really see the detail!

  • how do you get macro setting in this camera? i just got it!

  • have you used any special lenses or pro edting programs?

  • no...

  • is this just the normal camera macro test? i mean not any special lenses or pro video editing programs used?

  • What did the snail say when he rode on the turtle's back?

    "WHEEEEE!"

  • no, he said "OMG SLOW DOWN, YOU'RE GONNA GET US KILLED!"

    Google "snail riding turtle".

  • Lol!

  • haha, that's the first thing i thought of when i saw this video! "slow down, i wanna get there, but i wanna get there alive!"

great quality video, makes me want to get the camera.

  • Great camera but MAN IS THAT SNAIL ADORABLE

  • My compliments to you for this incredible video. I will purchase a HF S100 next week and will put stackable 58mm Century Optics Achromatic Diopter macro lenses on it for much closer detail. Very well done.

  • Beautiful example of the Macro capabilities of this camera. You really did a fantastic job!

I ordered our HF S100 two days ago and it should be here tomorrow. Macro in nature is probably my Modus Operandi when it comes to Photography, and I truly expect it to carry over into Videography at least two fold. I'll be recording a majority of my videos outdoors, in nature, so knowing that this Camcorder records Macro this well is amazing and really gets me excited.

    Thank you, really!

  • geez... if you pause the video it looks good enough to be HD desktop wallpaper. nice camcorder... i wish i could afford it.

  • does anyone know if this camera is compatable with windows vista???THANKS!

  • yes it is

  • its all about what program you are using not the operating system

  • yea it is i have vista

  • My computer could handle this camera right?

    AMD Phenom II X4 955 (3.2 ghz)

4 GB ram 1333Mhz (but can only use 3 GB cuz off windows xp)

    Windows XP pro SP3

    XFX HD 4870 X2

i edit videos in adobe after effects cs4

  • yes, easy

  • Oh yeah...without any problems. Just curious why do you use adobe AE to edit videos?

  • i do effects you know like explosion, shockwaves ,blasts, greenscreen effects

  • Ahhh...okay...that's cool.

  • for video rendering u need powerful cpu , well ur is ok, and the ram

  • Hi!

I bought a canon HV40 but when I saw what can do the canon hf s10 I'm falling in love of it...

I think to sell my hv40 to bu the s10... is the best thing to do!

ps: sorry for my english I'm italian...

  • how do you upload to pc since there is no firewire?

  • card reader

  • I'm looking at getting this camera, but I'm wondering if my computer will be able to handle it.

    My specs are:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6GHZ

    3gb RAM

    32-bit Vista

    Editing on Vegas Platinum 9.0b

    Thanks for the help!

  • I'm using an Intel Core 2 quad CPU Q6600 2.40 GHz

    4 GB Ram

    32 bit vista

    ATI Radeon HD 3450

Editing with Corel Video Studio 12

It jumps when editing but the processing goes fine and the converted video plays fine.

  • @brdr45 you will find it will take a while but you should be fine

  • @brdr45 it will work

  • What kind macro lens did you use?

  • You don't actually need one with this one. I had a wide angle lens on which caused the soft edges

  • @MyTulsaWorld Ironic how you use a wide angle converter for a macro test.

  • Yes it is. If you upload a higher resolution it will be shrinked to 720p.

  • Thanks for the vid. I'm sold! Time to buy one.

  • Can you let me know what format you used to upload this video? I can't seem to get HD out of you tube. I have looked everywhere and used their settings and it still doesn't work for me. I am shooting in MXP 60i scaling it down to 720p for you tube. Thanks.

  • It was so funny to watch in full-screen & HD... my cat wanted AT that ANT! :-)
