Eternal life is spiritual, we are spirits and when we die our spirits will leave our bodies. If we are not born of the Holy Spirit of Christ we will be lost and won't know what to do.

Good points about how things have changed. @Neurolanis race and society would be like, but there's no reason to think that we'd be less human. Nature and evolution have been tampering with their own creations in a less than perfect manner. They create cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer's, deadly viruses, and a lot of unpleasant stuff. Since we're part of nature, why would tampering with it and ourselves be unnatural? We've been doing it for milennia.
