1) That is not the way it is played Your use of a pick rather than fingers effectively compromises the melody. Sorry. Sounds way better with fingers

2) Your guitar sounds rusty and/or out of tune. Not a plesant sounds. Maybe you are not pressing the strings hard enough or maybe you have fret buzz.
