still i used 2009 much since school only got it... never used 2008 and im one of the simple persosns

I think that 3ds max 2008 is the best version so far. Very fast, compatible with max 9 plugins and not yet outdated.

I also tried 2010 and it is bloated as shit. Takes a million years to load, even if your close the app and start it again right away (2008 loads instantly in this case).

you want to duplicate the model and run it with a different texture?

FP'ers call this "hexing" the model. try making a request at their forums, someone should be more then happy to help you

Can't say this works for all version, but before all you had to do was delete the registry keys, and remove the lic file from your documents folder.

Oh by the way, I'm having a hard time finding 3ds Max 8, I can only find the 2010 version? Is there a place to get the older versions?

you can get a 30day trial for free from their site.

and since your not working for a company, there no reason for purchasing a 3000 license.

also personal use, or student licenses cost 500 bucks btw.

just use the trial, and if it expires, just reset the 30days. it's not like autodesk will kick down your door for using a trial.

it is really expensive though but really worth it!

lol I know you posted this a while ago but yea it really helps, before finding this I could bearly get props in the game. Now I can get custom Npc's, weapon models the lot, so thumbs up to mariokart64n!
