hi ..thanks for the viedo culd u email me step by step on how to do this ? im trying to figure out how to make my daughter a zebra print cake with purple an blk do i put food coloring in it or ??? my email is gemni400@gmail.com thanks if u can help ..
Hi. I have looked at all your cakes and I love them. I am going to nursing school but this is my passion. I haven't had enough bravery to try a fondant cake but was wondering if I can color this fondant and how would i do that. Also when rolling it out how thick do you recommend the fondant be. Oh one more thing can you list or do a video how you make your butter cream frosting. I looked for it but could not find it. Thanks sooooo much.
Hi hee, yes sometimes I use shortening to keep it from sticking but not too often. Yes any WalMart should carry past/ gel type food colors. You can find them in the wedding / cake supply area. Near party supplies. I simply pull of as much as I will need then little at a time add and knead the color into the fondant till desired intensity. Black can be tricky.. Likes to get dried out...
hey sorry to bother you but I want to make a cake for my sister in law for her quinceñera but I want to know if I can use the fondant as I make it or do I have to let it rest? please please reply to me.....
I have one question tho, about how long will the fondant last since you don't put it in the refridgerator? And once it's on the cake you can't refridgerate it either right?
Your kitchen is not ugly! It's a functioning kitchen & reminds me of the Wilton kitchen! LOL. Your video is awesome! You said you did your huge batch of fondant in a ice cream machine? How creative! Thanks for sharing, I learned allot!
I've done 2 fondant (marshmallow) cakes and and I read to keep it in the fridge overnight and warm for 30 seconds in the microwave when ready to use it. Should I not do that and leave it out in a container like yours? Also, can it be used right away it does it it need to sit a bit? Thanks!
@DaddysGirl3181 It is about 1 bag of marshmallows to 1&1/2 bags of powder sugar. Make sure you wet your marshmallows before melting them as the microwave seeks water. About 2 Tablespoons will do.
hi, thanks for you video. i have one question: how many time i can to keep this fondant? can you write the recipe? or send me to my email janiangh@yahoo.com, thanks and happy holidays
@yanni5473 It is about 1 bag of marshmallows to 1 to 1&1/2 bag powder sugar with about 2 Tablespoons water to moisten the marshmallows while melting in microwave 30 seconds at a time and stir...
many recipes on youtube say that you should put the fondant in the fridge for at least a couple of hours or overnight! I am sure you have more experience.
@AhmedTheBed Well even on the cake challenges they put the cakes in the fridge so they can get a quicker setup. But it is not recommended as it will absorb moisture.
@Jeani3d yeah but its more healthy than powder sugar so use splenda in a little piece if u thing is tasted good then continue if u say it taste REALLY REALLY BAD then continue with powder sugar ok thats my opinion
Awesome video! It was very informative! I'm just starting out, and have a three tiered birthday cake to cover for the weekend. I'm a little nervous lol. I was searching different videos because I've watched some that say you need to refrigerate marshmallow fondant overnight before using it. I was relieved to see that you didn't refrigerate yours!
@ocfrank1 I wrote you an email answering this. I really never have trouble with lint. I keep my kitchen cleaned even though this kitchen was ugly at the time. It's been remodeled since. As for the color being beige, I only use use white marshmallows and white powdered sugar. Maybe the crisco you are using to control stick is not completely white. I find that crisco isn't always the whitest. I use an off brand because I use it to create a true black frosting for detailed art. Baking4Charitiescom
I am making this for a wedding cake (first timer) and I wondered why some recipes say it should be in the fridge overnight? I also wondered how I would keep fondant cut outs fresh if I make them ahead of time (as in small flower cut outs that will be placed on finished cake) . Oh and will it look ok on a chocolate cake or does it have to be on a white cake? Thanks for your time!!
Hi...I used your recipie...And I thought it was working out fine, but it's still soft even after it sitting over night. Is it because I live in a colder area???
LOL, I probably spent $75.00 remodeling my ugly kitchen. REALLY, it had great bones just needed painting. LOL I have spent about 7 days on it too. Hard to do when your juggling life. But sooo worth it. LOL
The finished product looked like the fondant I pay soooo much for. How many batches of fondant were you working with in this video. Do you think Marshmellow fondant tastes better than other fondant? Thanks.
Oh, wooow!!!! I love the marshmellow fondant hands down!!!! This is about 6 batches. Which means about 6 bags of marshmellow to 6 bags of Powdered sugar give or take with just a bit of water and enough shortening on hands to keep from sticking. LOTS CHEAPER!!!! I will never buy it at a store. I can make and send it to you if you like. Oh my kitchen is looking great now. Almost finished.
@Jeani3d Jeani i started Laughing when i saw how much fondant yo had i was like WOAH that dosent look at all like all the others then you said late that your wonderful hubby helped!! lol my email is goldie1102@yahoo can you please send me pics?

@Jeani3d I used like 10 marshmallows and just kept adding powdered sugar till it felt right
DaddysGirl3181 1 year ago
@DaddysGirl3181 That is correct. Just let it tell you how much it wants. How did it turn out?
If it's a little dry or sticking to you, just rub a little shortening on your clean hands then continue.

@Jeani3d It turned out really well! I am going to LOVE putting it on cakes

Hi Jeani,
Were the wedding cakes white? My MMF always seems to have a beige tint... and how did you keep lint from ruining all that beautiful fondant? Thanks.
