  • You can find the pulse vu on acidmods

  • serious overkill

  • I need a GOOD tutorial on this :/

  • i bought the pulse vu 2x off you guys put it in today i love it man

  • it makes me want to have a siesure :P

(yet im not epileptic or prone to siesures lol)

  • can i send u my xbox to do this

  • thts like wow!!!

whats the name of the song???

  • Thanks! I don't remember the name of the song. It came with the MS HDD as a sample song.

  • The song is "Furious" by Z-Trip

  • Ok i wanna know wer did u get pulse vu please write back to me as soon as possible

  • The link in the description lists many shops that sell the PulseVU.

  • Okay i have a question

i bought the chip and installed the wires to the board succesfully, as i understand the vu pad needs a wire to the neg end of your lights and the positive end to the capacitor on the motherboard, where does the resistor go and what resistor(s) will i need, i want to use cold cathode tubes or led's

  • These are not support forums. Please post your question on our website and we will be happy to help!

  • how many extender is that .__.

  • None of our Power Extenders were used. Only a PulseVU 2X.

  • Okay, I want to install led lights behind my tv, that blink to the sound, what all do i need to buy?

  • PulseVU 2X, LEDs, and wire!

  • what song is this?

  • its not inn the 360, its powered by.

  • "There are 11 x 14 LEDs here, powered by an external power supply. "

  • thats not in the 360..

  • how many resistors did you have on that? and how many leds can the chip hold if you buy them in strips?

  • 14 resistors (one for each LED Board). The PulseVU 2X by itself can support up to 3Amps of LEDs, which in this case works out to 150 LEDs. You can add even more though by adding a Power Extender, which lets you use another 150 LEDs. It depends too on what power supply you're using though, because a PC power supply can support many LEDs, but a console like the Xbox can't support as much.

  • ok say if i just wanted to do 150 leds thats really to much for a 360 haha but i mean if i did that would i still need resistors? cause to be honest im new to this stuff and i dont know what a resistor really does or even how to solder it.

  • Yes, you will need resistors. In summary, LEDs may need 3.3V and if you supply them with 5V, they will be damaged because there is too much current. A resistor will limit how much current goes to the LEDs so they are not overpowered. Youtube isn't the place to be researching resistors, so check out the SICKmods DIY site and forums for more help.

  • Can you make a video on how to install it somebody else did it but his camera sucks

  • also when you buy the pulsevu2 does it come with the led's or do you have to solder them on?

  • You solder your own LEDs to it. Shown in the video are SICKmods' LED Boards, which make adding LEDs easy because it connects up to 11 LEDs per board.

  • does that only work with music or will it work with games and movies 2?

  • It works with any audio coming from the console, so yes, it will work with games and movies. Gunfire in a game for example has a very neat effect. Also, when it lights up bright for car crashes in racing games, it looks great and involves you in the game even more.

  • Would cold cathodes work? Or would it not be able to power them? And would LEDs be the easiest way to go. My only concern is how much soldering would have to be done to install everything?

  • I am looking forward to connect about 30-40 10mm LEDs across my room for decoration. I was wondering if i can hook this thing up with my laptop so that the leds flash to music?

  • Absolutely. The PulseVU can be hooked up to practically anything with a 5V power source. We can help you in more detail in the SICKmods Forums.

    sickmods(dot)net

  • Dont you think that would distract you?

  • For this video we just connected a lot of LEDs to the PulseVU chip to show how much power it is capable of controlling (3A here). So yes, a big square of LEDs would be distracting, but that was not the intention of this video. For more tasteful and non-distracting uses of the PulseVU, take a look at the related videos.

  • I'm really considering buying one of these, could you point me to a detailed tutorial on how to wire it to work with the 360 RoL and LEDs inside the 360? Also, just thought of something wicked, I'm modding my 360 HDD to have 6 blue LEDs wired in parellel, I realize that this probably cannot happen, since they are different components, but is there a way to wire the HDD to the PULSEVU and make it flash with the LEDs and the RoL? Just a thought that seems cool, thanks.

  • Of course you can wire the ROL and your other LEDs. That's the purpose of the chip! We have designed it so the ROL can be connected separately from your other LEDs so they do not interfere with each other.

You can find a detailed install guide for the Xbox360 here:

    pulsevu(.)com/install/360/

Read the usage page to see how it works:

  • Ok, I know all that, I'm not new to modding...lol. I've been thinking, as it has never been attempted, I want to try it, in order for the pulse to sync with the LEDs, it would have to have either the HDD internilized, defeating the purpose, as the LEDs would be surrounding it, or I could wire a jumper and make a custom hole in the metal chassis and a hole in the bottom of the HDD, it would be more work, but it would also disable the HDD from being detached, I shall try this.

  • Eh, I should re-phrase that, please delete...

In order for the HDD to beat with the LEDs, it would have to be either internalized, which would defeat the purpose of the LEDs in the HDD, or I would make a custom wiring setup for it, disabling the detachment function, none-the-less, I will try it on my next customer if he is so willing.

  • Ah, I see your dilemma now. Well, there's just one wire that needs to go from the HDD enclosure to the PulseVU, so you can probably fix up a small plug that will connect a wire from the HDD to the main case.

  • Alright, I see what you're getting at now, a plug might not be too bad, I went through all the options of wiring it today at my break, and it seemed there was no possible way to have them wired and still have the HDD detachable, but I like the plug idea, it could work.

  • Ya, just a 1 or 2-pin male/female pinheader will do the trick.

  • The 360 stock power supply offers 5volts of Standby power at@ 1.0 Ampere. So this many LEDs would be impractical, and 360-suicide without an ATX PSU, haha!

    -PM44

  • Haha, yep. But if you power the LEDs externally, then you can still pack them inside a clear Xbox360 case and really make a wicked mod.

The concept here though was just to show that the PulseVU can handle more LEDs than necessary, so there's no need to worry about reaching a limit. This way, you can use the PulseVU in a PC, a vehicle, etc.

  • looks nice :D

  • will it overheat with that much leds?,or maybe overheat very quickly?

  • Not likely. LEDs give off practically no heat. The bigger issue for this many LEDs is how to power them. I used an ATX PSU, because I'm not sure that the Xbox360 can handle 3Amps of LEDs.

  • does pulsevu2 have celebrate mode i want celebrate

  • you guys have great work and products. Keep it up!

  • Thanks! Will do.

  • SWEET
