Back in 1964 I was caught up in the Beatlemania (and still am, btw) My Grama told me she really likes them. Most of our 60s bands (her words) all their songs sounded the same, but she liked the Beatles 'cos every song is different. The name Anna goes all the way back to biblical days. Anna was the one who recognized Jesus as the son of God, while he was still an infant. We named my grandbaby Anna, simple but beautiful name and this song is wonderful.

This is one of my fave Beatle songs, & John's voice is simply incredible, made all the more so by the fact that he was suffering from a terrible cold at the time. It has been written that John's performance on this surpasses the original performed by Arthur Alexander & that this was one of John's favorite Beatle songs. One thing I could never understand, however, was why if John sings "Go with him", the song is always titled (in parenthesis) "Go TO him". Go figure..lol.

actually the Beatles did not write this song. It was a song written by Aurthur Alexander from the US in 1962. The Beatles covered it in 1963. Still it is one of their most beautiful pieces....
