  • I am so tired of people saying that Johnson County is all that especially Overland Park it is so over rated. It is the city of BEIGE and is nothing compared to other suburbs in bigger cities. Come to CA and tell someone your from KS you will get laughed at and asked if you have seen Dorothy and Toto.....lol

  • @Dat6PointNiggah

learn hwy 71, 470 and a few other streets like 23rd, and main, and you've pretty much got it. obviously there is a lot more than that. But as my Grandpa always said, "if you can find the main drag you can find your way home."

  • Johnson co has taken all the glitter from downtown for example Power and light district on the misery side cost the taxes payes 14 million a year, WOW you dont see that on the joco side. SAD times when the city govenment fronts the bars and restraunts. KC is domed to be the next detroit

  • everyone just to let u kno, theres a big abandoned factory there with lots of graffiti there,be careful artist cuz there are train workers there and if they catch u theres gonna be a fight, btw im a graffiti artist and i live in kc

  • Fantastic video. Downtown has and is changing since I moved away. Can't wait to return to my home. Thank you for sharing.

  • I am born and Raised Kansas City!!! I love the feel of downtown where the Haunted houses are like the Beast and the Edge of Hell. Westport where you can always catch a good local show either down at the Riot Room, Beaumont Club, The Uptown Theatre or America's Pub. Drinks, Live music. Sometimes on the weekends you have street venders selling food. also there is Joe's Pizza right behind the Riot Room. Not metioning everything else.

  • Nicely done, Srovets!! Born and raised here, and love this great town!! Five stars!!

  • Thanks

    Stevo

  • This looks grand.....cool place to live!

  • I wanna move back !

  • To all of those who say there is nothing to do in kansas city I suggest you try moving to Corsicana, Texas (aka the butt hole of the world). There is truly nothing to do here. I was born and raised in KC and miss it dearly. You have no idea what you have until you move some dump of a town in the south. I would give anything to be back home!!!!

  • Wow people speaking here on KC must all be suburbanites. Downtown is awesome... Crossraods District is awesome, P&L can be fun but its more for tourist and suburban people. The Rivermarket... Westport, the plaza.. I love KC... if anyone is bored here it's because they are boring... Downtown KC population has increased 8000 over 7 years and very dense.

  • @Geekafied crossroads you are right very cool but the p&l is fronted by taxes payers money and lets get real the majority of the people that go there are coming from Johnson county Wesprot has fallen to crime the plaza no one can afford to do anything except the uber rich now the river market that is the best place in KC by far how can you beat that you can get fresh fruit and vegs and have a sandwhich all in one for under 20 bucks

  • yeah people in the surrounding suburbs have no other reason to come to downtown other than work. nice downtowns are usually the busy core of any thriving metropolis...

power& light was a decent start to revitilizing downtown but it sure doesn't need to stop there....lets re-do the whole downtown not just a distric(it's only a block and 1/2) downtown has PLENTY OF SPACE and unused buildings....ok im done ranting...lol

  • born and raised here...kansas city is shameful...its downtown down right sucks....even with the addition of the power & light dist. i dnt think there is much to get happy about. i mean come on where are the major retailers...there is no place to buy clothes, general accesories or even fast food or anything like applebees, chili's or tgi friday. the place is a ghost town after 5p.m. (kc, is more businees than entertainment) and even between 9-5 you still wont see many people walking GHOST TOWN

  • There is a lot of talk here and on other forums about that issue. Kansas City is extreeeemely suburban, and the people are all in cars. Some would argue that Kansas City is now a suburb of Johnson County Kansas. There are many forces in this city working very hard to maintain that status quo and that is what sucks.

  • @iluvKCI Well I still live here and there is plenty of shopping and stuff to do!! we got the sprint center, power and light negro leagues/jazz mueseum. And u say theres no shopping but we have the Plaza. I mean come on if u lived in KC u would know abt that!

  • 3000ryu is right. Power and light is a drunk money pit, the Plaza is full of pretentious fucks. You really have to dig deep and make connections with people to do anything fun.

  • the downtown looks architecturally interesting, but where are all the people? Looks dead. Is the downtown safe?

  • @NYer79 I live here and the reason theres not a lot of people is becuz of the weather.

  • Bah That place is a wasteland. There is nobody down there and it's a lot smaller than it looks. Nobody lives in the inner core of city because of the crime. The recent power and light district is far from worth visiting and the only way to get there is to drive. Transportation sucks and pretty much everything sucks about that city except the cost of living other than that you will be staring at a wall in KC because there is NOTHING to do.

  • i have lived in kc for 8years. you can say that its a ghost town compared to other places. but after a while i guess u get used to it.

  • Very nice video welll done i loved ,but where all the people? Kansas a ghost town.I can,t believe it.People left this planet?I remember movies from the 70th.Street wars full of life.Very sorry that makes me worried.

  • I was born & raised in kc...I love it!!!!! The people are very down to earth and theres ARTIST everywhere.......

  • nOt BaD STE O FROM BaTEs Cy lol

  • King Pleasure - Parker's Mood

  • Beautiful city. But not a lot of people in downtown, except during work days.

Most people/recreational activities are at the Plaza or Crown Plaza.

I'd appreciate downtown for its historic significance but nothing more.

Overland Park (KS), about 10-20 miles south has more shopping and recreational attractions.

  • It's true. I love O-P land. :)

  • I like this a lot. I miss KC. It is a beautiful city.
