  • This looks like a deceptive, exploitative film about how missionaries ("God") supposedly "saved" the yanomamo people. Sounds like more proud cultural destruction from big religion.

  • I read the book One River by Wade Davis and am now familiar with the atrocities of outsiders perpetrated on indigenous people. I no longer trust the 'big' religions. They are like corporations, corrupt and exploitative.

  • I just heard about this on the Christian radio station and am truly fascinated. It is a wonderful story of enlightenment. From what I heard of Shoefoot's comments, God is really working a miricle in his heart. I am looking forward to seeing this film very soon. I am sorry for those that seem so hard hearted in their comments here. Just as Shoefoot's people have been misrepresented in the past, my people, Americans, have been deceived. It is passed time for us to open our eyes to the truth.

  • The enemy God...is really the negative program that is provided by the Alien[fake]

god,to subvert the God consciousness meant for all mankind... The truth will be known...

    Thanks Christopher...

  • While I appreciate the help of some missionaries in providing services to the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, this film seems both exploitative and condescending towards indigenous culture. While the trailer doesn't come right out and say it, this is a film about the success of missionization, the acceptance of god in the life of a Yanomamo, with the subtext being the slow, steady destruction of indigenous culture. Believe me, this film is only portraying one side of the story.

  • I am pretty sure you have not seen the entire film. In any case, I think you have misunderstood it all. The whole point of the film is to portray the indigenous side of the story. The missionaries play a role because they are a part of the story the Yanomamö want to tell, but they are far from the focus. Many indigenous people have seen the film and hailed it as the first time someone actually portrayed their side of things in an way that honors them. I hope you can see it sometime.

  • I'm sorry that you seem to have had some bad experiences that have caused you to have a low view of indigenous people. After a lot of interaction, I find men like Bautista and Timoteo to have very generous and wise hearts and a real desire to help their people.

  • Look, I've been down there since 1958. You are being deceived. Two of the men I saw clearly want/are getting trade goods, sun glasses, etc. Don' you get it? They want more. You don't count to them except as sugar people. Are you so prejudiced you think Indians can't fool you? geeez people, get a clue.

  • Get your facts straight! These are not Indian people! As a matter of fact, we dont have indians in central america! You should go to the library or simply browse the internet and do a basic research before you say something like this>

  • This looks like an amazing story.
